He he, I'm sad. So Minmax becomes the mouth of the snarky part of the community. Which can be funny, but answering directly to critics has made at least one webcomic artist's life pretty difficult, like Tom Preston's, whom I only know because of the hate he gets.
Those are some ugly looking monsters. :smalleek:
the gray one on the right looks famillier somehow. think Thunt used that general head-shape somewhere before. not sure.
Note there is also a yellow one in the lower left corner,
and there iswatersome liquid1 on the floor.
Maybe the water is deeper than it looks, these guys are no monsters,
but some kind of fountain-statues that are placed there as bait and
distraction for a trap/ambush for something lurking in the depth ?
After the ropes, I can totally see such a thing coming :smallamused:
(1) long time, no acid
You're right minmax, they do spend a heck of a lot of time being sad.
I think they grey one's shape is similar to that elf statue from one of the comic extras in his books. That may be what you're thinking?
Am I the only one that thinks this is some variant of the "evil version of the party" trope?
Gray: Looks like a monk, has bracers and a high-waisted look. Reminds me of Thac0.
Red: Demonic features, sword, covering on right forearm. Names.
Green: Burly, axe, big ears. Big Ears.
Blue: Medium-sized in an otherwise small-sized group, has a sword. MinMax.
If yellow is Fumbles, they're all accounted for. I'm the first to admit that there are other features that don't really match. But the arm covering on the red one makes me think the things that do match aren't a coincidence - that's kind of a unique detail.
I also agree they look like Thuntonian demons.
So would another "demon" appear if Kore makes his way there?
Maybe, if he caught up while the party was still there. But it's more likely that he takes a different door and doesn't see that part of the dungeon. Or maybe the demons are already set and Kore wouldn't change anything. Either way, the demons are very rough reflections of the party, so I'm not sure how much to read into it. But I don't think the number and appearances of the demons are coincidental.
nnkay yeah that could be it then. not exact obviously, but same general shape and no-mouth ness.
Yes, that's the one I meant. Thanks for the link! Although it was less similar than I remembered.
All he has to do is ask the door golem to show him the door that was most recently used.
and then he's probably going to kill the door golem for interacting with evil goblins.
I want to see Kore dealing with the yumyuck. "You're a good moss! Blaaah! You're vile! Now you're good again! But potential evil must be eradicated!" (Starts uprooting moss).
I liked this comic. I like Goblins when it's silly. I think if Thunt just made a completely lighthearted comic with no combat or awfulness I would love it.
i knew that would kick him in the face eventually:smallbiggrin:
So, apparently, in three comics, Goblins is going to change forever. Wonder what it could be.
Why does "Goblins Count-Down" sound like "Goblins Cut Down" to me?
Uh-oh, now I have an idea, but I am not going to share it, just in case it's right.
Say whatever you want about Thunt's writing skills, the guy sure can handle some continuity thing quite well.
Minmax will be cursed to become a goblin. There's my silly guess.
