Re: The Frozen North: All Aboard!
Rime smiles back at Oddy. "I do not know what that means." But, it can't be a bad thing if Oddy is smiling? She turns around with Oddy to face Starswirl.
She hears Oddy cry and hugs her. The dyeing tears on her coat are ignored. "No, Oddy. It is not your fault." The poor deer. She puts her staff around Oddy and hugs her. Her free hoof reaches for her back and calmly rubs her back. She looks to Doc like she isn't sure what to do.

Re: The Frozen North: All Aboard!
"I... wasted k'his time, just to reafirm an old myth! I... completly messed it up!" she took deep breathes.
"I'm sorry. I k'have lost myself... I... usually not into dramas... I'm really sorry.' she seems to want to keep the hug, but slowly releasing Rime, feeling maybe she will abuse her welcome.

Re: The Frozen North: All Aboard!
Rime looks back to Oddy. Oddy can let go of Rime, but Rime holds on to her and even tightens her squeeze. "Oddy, your question was not a waste of time. Starswirl even answered your question true. The question was important to you so getting an answer could not have been a waste of time."
"You do not need to apologize." She rubs Oddy's back. "Would you like a candy?"

Oddy reclinged to Rime. She pantdd a bit.
"Yes...' she said weakly, allowing herself to be a little doe.

Re: The Frozen North: All Aboard!
Doc glanced over his shoulder. He smiled a little. Nice to see Rime has calmed Oddy down. He wanted to join in, but he was busy trying To get this two hundred year old tech to cooperate.
-
Re: The Frozen North: All Aboard!
Rime's horn glows underneath her hood and unpacks the candy bag from her saddle bag. She pulls out a piece of her special candies and floats it to Oddy. The bag of candies is a variety pack so it is a different candy than the kind Oddy got last time. She hovers the candy in front of Oddy's mouth. The wrapper, enveloped in a blue aura, peels away. Rime will even put the candy in Oddy's mouth if she wants that, but she will hold it there if Oddy wants to grab the candy.

Re: The Frozen North: All Aboard!
Golden steps into the room, eyes wide but moving with the care of someone who doesn't want to barge in where they might not be welcome. She steps over to Doc. "So I didn't catch everything that happened. Did we lose our new friend?"
As for Doc's work on the computer, he quickly determines that no amount of software fixes or general knowledge of how computers work will fix this issue. That...whatever it was just bricked the system.

Doc exhaled. He ran a hoof through his mane and turned to answer Golden directly. He seemed a little disappointed in the machine he stood in front of.
"If you mean Hawk, I saw Glint take her off to the side for a private talk. Probably to calm them both down. Hawk and Oddy had a fight over Hawk using this place as a hideout. Oddy seems alright now, so... they might be alright too. I'm hoping so. If you meant the holographic old pony Starswirl here..."
Doc lightly kicked the console with a forehoof.
"...nah, the machine is fried. Ain't no rebooting it for more answers. Before Starswirl bricked, he said we had to locate his eldest son... or his son's descendents... somewhere. Yeah, he talked a lot for a program that didn't give much info. Reckon we can research the name 'Late Night' when we get back to town. But right now, probably want to finish exploring and get out with some loot before something else Sparks to life down here."

Re: The Frozen North: All Aboard!
Stop Oddy... Riiiight. The sand dog had seen the reindeer pull all sorts of tricks that would make it hard to do that without magic. Thankfully it seemed Rime had her back. "Well I don't know anything about computers so can't help you there... He did mention a Som-something though. Might be a clue for whatever is leading the robots." She taps her chin. "If Starswirl's son is like him or the filly maybe he jumped into a bot?"
-
Re: The Frozen North: All Aboard!
Oddy take the candy and with a deep breath releasing Rime, and wiping her face.
"I am sorry. Crybaby isn't my favorite persona.." she chewed on the candy and clapped her hooves.
"I'l give a present and an apology to Hawk, but time to work!" she look at Rime.
"Thank you.' and with that, wear again her regular persona.
She walk by Doc's side.
"I am good at k'hacking... is this what is needed?'

Doc shakes his head. "No, this computer is too far broken to even fix. I think we should just continue exploring the rooms for any more dangers and then see what we can loot to make the trip profitable. I'm sure Hawk will be happy if we confirm nothing else is going to attack her should she stay here a while longer."

"Well, let's see if we can crack them open," Doc says. "Golden, Rime, and Roxy can get first shot at whatever 200-year old mutant is behind them. Might even look like teamwork if we do it right."

Re: The Frozen North: All Aboard!
"Can we count it, as double and k'half date?" Oddy winked, and levitated her tools.
"Where does a sweet guy like you learn such skills?' she wondered.
-
Re: The Frozen North: All Aboard!
"Double and a half date? Heh, you are consistent with your flirting if nothing else," Doc says. He will pull out the tool pouch of his own.
To the second question, Doc has to mull over an answer before speaking. "Well, I grew up surrounded by old abandoned buildings. Lots of doors left locked you see, and as Hawk showed us earlier, if you don't have the skills to open them then you aren't getting inside. It was a necessity growing up, so I could rummage for old food cans and parts to keep the water purifier going."
-
Re: The Frozen North: All Aboard!
"Well some of us are thirsty for affection. I can't k'help it." Oddy smiled.
"Oh. I see. I k'have learned those skills, when I wanted to get presents to rightful owners. Sometimes, just being pretty isn't enough. So.'
-
Re: The Frozen North: All Aboard!
Golden examines the computer console and sighs. "Well, the good news is that this is not large enough to house a fully interactive AI. Unless they've got a larger system hidden somewhere, that was a phone call, not a house call." She muses for a moment. "If the system were still working, it would have been possible to trace the location he was calling from..."
She rouses herself and gives them an apologetic smile. "You're right. Let's leave well enough alone and try to get what we came here for."
-

"Yep, on it with Oddy," Doc stated. He was about to add Boss to the end of that, but omitted it because that might make things awkward later if he were to, say, ask her out or something.
Then there's Oddy...

...yup. That there's Oddy. Heh, thirsty for affection. Kinda reminded him of someone he knew months ago. Use their charms to have whatever they wanted. She was only into mares tho. Oddy plays the entire field.
"Well, reckon you ain't wrong about getting by on looks alone. Helps to be smart."
How many doors were there, two? Doc will go to one and start an attempt to pick it. He'll take a little extra time to get it right.

-
Re: The Frozen North: All Aboard!
Fortunately, Rime already checked and found an active source of radiation behind one of the doors, so Oddy and Doc work on the other. Together, they managed to pop the lock and get it to hope for them. Inside, however, is exactly what they came here for. This appears to have been the storage closet, chock full of expensive electronics, robotic parts, and supplies for the ponies staffed here to maintain them.
And batteries. Lots and lots of batteries.

Re: The Frozen North: All Aboard!
While Pepper doesn't announce herself or Black hawk returning, she does make a bit of noise getting in, preening her feathers slightly a few hoofsteps away.
"I take it everypony else calmed down?" she gives Oddy a far more diplomatic look, any killer instinct she possessed seemingly gone, but the tired expression sends a clear warning: "Nopony going to start any sh*t again? We're all on the same page? Good. Black Hawk's gonna stick around, but.. but..." she looks at the open room, her eyebrow slowly raising. "Is that what I think it is? Hot damn. Good work, I guess. At least two things went right then..." Her eyes dart about, internally cataloging some things she recognizes as potential grabs. "Hey, Black Hawk? These the batteries your rifle needs?" She picks one up, without so much as a by your leave from the others, offering it to the other pegasus.
"Hey. ...Uh, Doc? Did you get anything else out of that computer?" she eventually thinks to ask.

"Not much, I'm afraid," Doc answers as he's checking behind items and under shelves for traps. "Starswirl wants us to find descendants of somepony name Late Night, but heck if you can find anyone with no real description of what they look like. No name, no gender, nothing so much as even conformation we'd even be looking for a unicorn or earthpony... nothing to really go by."

Re: The Frozen North: All Aboard!
Rime says to Oddy before they leave the room, "There is nothing wrong with crying." She smiles a little. "You are welcome."
Rime follows them to the two doors and warns them about the other door, "I detected radiation behind that door. We should avoid it until we are ready to accept the challenge."
Rime asks when they see the inside of the room, "Is this stuff valuable? If Black Hawk can use any of the things in here it should be valuable." She walks in and looks around. Are there any doors? She might as well start searching for secret rooms or hidden holes.

Re: The Frozen North: All Aboard!
"Well, he had to have said something about his son, right? Can't we go ask him for more info? Pepper seems to be eyeballing just the right pieces for her second gun mount, "No indication of where the robots were going, or what they plan to do? Anything?" She doesn't sound as cross as she once was, but she is if anything methodical about questioning ponies.
"...I'm assuming," she says to Rime, "That no radiation is leaking out or anything? Otherwise you'd be in a much bigger panic, I imagine."
-
Re: The Frozen North: All Aboard!
"Our distance away when we first entered the main room did provide some protection." She magics out a metal wand and points it at the other room through the wall. "The spell does not tell me everything about the radiation. Mainly, I can detect direction, distance, and strength." She uses her wand until it pings again. The wand pings in proportion to the strength of the source found.

"The computer hardware fried itself mid-rant, so no, we're not going to get any more info on the robots. That old Starswirl program is pretty much... dead...?" Doc's commentary stopped for a moment, much the same way a computer that is taking a while to load a program stops. It isn't stopped exactly per se, it's just... putting two and two together.
"Say..." Doc finally speaks out again. "The um... Dr Banks, from the recordings earlier. Didn't he say that there was a... a project Starswirl when he was talking about brain scanning? Same Starswirl you reckon? Maybe we were talking to a copy of a real pony? Maybe that's why it was so befuddled and glitchy?"
-
Re: The Frozen North: All Aboard!
The pegasus taps her chin. "That may or may not explain why a hologram was trying to rummage through a computer room looking for crap. If it's faulty, it might not have been able to realize it can't pick up anything. Which may be why Banks was reticent to turn on the robot he put his daughter into. Guy got desperate, then remembered midway through how bucked up the Starswirl data was...But...Ugh... Late Night's Descendants... Starswirl's Son, Bank and his dead family... this is starting to get complicated..."
Pepper rubs at the bridge of her snout.
"Okay, wait wait wait... Forget about Late Night's descendants for a second; we need to sort this hay out. Starswirl's been dead for what? Decades? Centuries? How could Banks, or anypony be able to put a copy of his brain into a robot or computer? Or how could his son still be around? ...unless the Son's in a robot body or a holographic program too? Maybe his son's like some big leader robot that ordered the others to leave. Black Hawk, were there any robots that stood out as different than the rest when they escaped?"
