Re: Darths And Droids 2: Should've Gone to Naboo
Are. . . are we really getting into near personal attacks over the scientific name for lead? I didnt think that was possible outside of a raging kegger at the Tri-Lambs frat house.

And how British Parliament is Congress with a two drink minimum, although certain Prime Minister's Questions makes it sound more like a four... :smalltongue:

I promised myself not to get into useless arguments on the internet anymore... and it's not even a real argument. It's about me not looking like an idiot due to a misunderstanding.
Okay, two posts just before I started with the cause and effect were

Which both to me mean, it makes sense to call it plumbum because later it would be related to plumber. And as I, and apparently you guys as well, know plumbum came first. But I was referring to these two posts which sound backward to me.
Can you see where I'm coming from now...? Pretty please?
Looking back at my last post I also made at least one grievous mistake saying 'older' when I meant 'younger' probably screwing up the whole context of the sentence
I'm not sure if I'm making things clear or just digging myself deeper here.

Perhaps it makes you giggle to hear "bum" in a serious scientific term? Is it the repetition "um...um" that gives it a comical aspect? It could be the "p"; I've heard that letter is undignified. I guess "plumb" looks sort of like "dumb".
Yes, it does sound funny. Possibly for the "um...um" part, not sure. But certainly not for "bum" because it is not pronounced like "bum" as far as I know. (sure for plumbum, buur I think bum is pronounced not Latin-ish)

The real reason you think it's stupid is that you think the alternative is that you are stupid for not getting it. As you can see, the reason is just that it's an obscure term with two millenia of history, so it's not a matter of being smart on either side.
Well, saying it sounds stupid to me of course is my bias but calling me stupid because I think it sounds stupid feels a bit harsh. About the "not getting it"... look above (hoping I made myself clearer this time)

Everyone but you knows that they meant "it's easy to understand why lead is Pb, due to this interesting etymological quirk".
You're just digging yourself deeper.

Re: Darths And Droids 2: Should've Gone to Naboo
If this topic gets shut down due to an argument about lead, im going to blow up alderan. Dont make me blow up alderan.

Re: Darths And Droids 2: Should've Gone to Naboo
But I like leading people to blow up planets... but I don't want the topic closed...hmmm...
So my personal therory is that Ben stays as Obi Wan now, but becomes Lando later on.

*grumblegrumblemisunderstandinggrumble*I'll shut up then
Hm... don't know... I'd not be surprised if Ben completely leaves the group... after Obi Wan's Death I guess it would be possible for him to... who to take? Lando seems improbable, to small a role to take for him... Chewbacca?
-
Re: Darths And Droids 2: Should've Gone to Naboo
Lando's roles throughout Return of the Jedi only make sense for a PC to me. Late addition mind you, a sporactic sheaduling. But I won't think a DM would leave the destruction of the death star II and the milenium falcon in an NPCs hands. So maybe a late addition to the game...

Re: Darths And Droids 2: Should've Gone to Naboo
Huh. Ben tells Luke what really happened to his father. That's quite a departure from the movies.
Also, we might finally be getting closer to "Luke".

Why does this sound like the tail end of a Direct TV commercial?
When your cable goes out, you go on the internet instead
When you go on the internet, you get into dumb forum arguments about lead
When you get into dumb forum arguments about lead, the topic gets shut down
When the topic gets shut down, Traab blows up Alderan.
Don't make Traab blow up Alderan. Switch to Direct TV Today!

Re: Darths And Droids 2: Should've Gone to Naboo
An unexpected deviation from the movies.
(Not more to say, I just started reading the comic).

Indeed. Makes me wonder- what will Vader be telling Luke that puts the "Nooo!" expression on his face, in their version of The Empire Strikes Back?
And what will Ben be telling Luke in their Return of the Jedi?

Something 4th wall breaking?
As for the second point, maybe a double fake?
"You told me my father was Darth Vader!"
"Well that's true... from a certain point of perspective."

Hu, that's interesting... but I don't really see it happening. Not that I wouldn't pleased if it was done right.
But I guess there could me many unrelated jokes made for the famous Big No.

"I roll for a balance check"
/rolls a one
"NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!"
/falls into the bottomless pit.
"Wait, cant I use some sort of force manipulation to save myself?"
"hmmm, ok, but you have to roll a 15 or higher for it to work, this is pretty damn lethal."
/rolls a 20
"YES!"
"Ok, you.... fall into some sort of conduit that slowly curves into a level surface so you stop without going splat."

Re: Darths And Droids 2: Should've Gone to Naboo
Hmm.. that was well done. I know it was kind of a Matrix rip-of, but it was nonetheless well executed and still powerful.
I'd love to see that kind of behavior in real life players.

Re: Darths And Droids 2: Should've Gone to Naboo
"Luke Amidala"?
They're just messing with us now.
-
Re: Darths And Droids 2: Should've Gone to Naboo
I have to admit though, on a person who's just started roleplaying and seems more than willing to give it a decent try, this sort of plot stuff would absolutely hook them in.
Well, it'd absolutely hook me in at Corey's age.

Assuming they use human Jabba. They might use the poorly rendered Jabba from one of the rereleases.

Human Jabba? What's that?

The original scene where we first see Jabba the Hut was not in the Theatrical release. It was filmed with a human-type Jabba, not the giant slug. After they re-designed Jabba, they CGI-replaced the Jabba-human in the deleted scene with a CGI Jabba-slug, which included awkward things like him getting his tail stepped on, because the scene wasn't blocked with Jabba having a giant tail. Then they added it to the movie.

Re: Darths And Droids 2: Should've Gone to Naboo
There's a short story in one of the compilations (Tales from Jabba's Palace, Tales from the Mos Eisley Cantina, etc) which pays a nod to this-
with one of the characters being Jabba's representative, who was sometimes the front man, who people thought was the actual Jabba.

Re: Darths And Droids 2: Should've Gone to Naboo
We're pretty confident that Jim will play GreeboGreedo in that scene though, right?
Edited for hilarious mistake.

Re: Darths And Droids 2: Should've Gone to Naboo
I'm also sure he'll shoot first and miss badly. It fits Jim.

I'm guessing this, and he will give up on trying to make his own characters, take over Han, and be epic from there on out.
