Applying FMA rules, that isn't possible because the energy to animate an inanimate object can't come from nowhere and not even homunculi have that much spare energy. Animating anything only really happened once for about ten seconds in episode 2 of the original anime (which constantly ignores its own rules). It never happened at all in the original story, unless you count soul-binding.

Re: FFRP Central: All players start here!
ok, wrong word, I mean gold manipulation.
-
Re: FFRP Central: All players start here!
Chrysokinesis is one thing, but my concern is mostly about the Midas Touch bit, specifically its scale:
Spoiler
Show
~ What things can and cannot be turned into gold? I would think that living flesh should be off the list.
~ Is the goldification permanent? How quickly is it able to spread over an object?
~ If it is not permanent, how long does it last? Is there a limit to the amount of matter that can be kept gold at one time?
~ Is the process able to be undone, either by the user or others?
~ How much control is had over the gold?
-
Re: FFRP Central: All players start here!
hm.
your right. I'll have to think about that. but definitely no flesh then.
I don't think he can harden the gold beyond its properties though-like if he makes a golden sword....its no different from how golden sword would be in real life: heavy, made of a soft metal, and not really much of a good sword.
so yeah. I'll think on that sort of thing....but of course the Midas Touch part only happens when he activates it. perhaps only one object at a time, or if ground, a certain amount of ground.....

Anyone else think another FMAiTP would be fun?

Well, it couldn't hurt to try again. I've still got my old character sheet for Sloth around here somewhere...

Er, wasn't actually intending to do something using the canon characters, since it's more fun and less limiting to be able to make up one's own characters and story.
Though one question that will have to be figured out is "how much series canon is RP canon?".

I know. My Sloth is completely different from his canon counterparts.

Ah, I see. Is he also a Homunculus?
Speaking of which, it's probably best that we limit the number of Homunculus PCs.

Yes. Both previous games took the standard AnimeiTP approach in that regard: Same seats, different sitters.

Re: FFRP Central: All players start here!
For the record I think there needs to be a better balance of rules in these games. KHitP died pretty darn fast, and I can't help but feel like the rules restricting the keybladers made a lot more people choose Nobodies, and there was so few people that when two deadtimed the whole game disintegrated.
-
Re: FFRP Central: All players start here!
Definitely---I think to start with, no more than three Homunculus PCs would be good.
As for the plot, I'm not quite sure how much I want to follow the "same seats, different butts" model. It could be a bit more interesting to follow something you could call the "But Not As You Know It" model, in that it'd take place in the same time period as show canon but things could be quite different.
Perhaps Burt Reynolds Bradley isn't a human-base Homunculus, and is just a benevolent (albeit militarily zealous) ruler?
Perhaps there was no Ishvalan genocide, or there was a different reason for a mass death of the Ishvalan people?
Father would very likely no longer be of concern, I think, in the interest of giving new villains space to breathe.

The second game tried something like that. It was an alternate history, where the Homunculi had sided with Ishbal and crushed Amestris. In any case, these RPs usually don't use any canon characters. I.E, they act as if there never was a King Bradley/Father/etc in the first place.

Me? Never did get a proper chance to use my character...
Actually, sorry, but that's not going to work out. Withdrawing interest.

Will each later, then decide.
Also C'nor: mind clearing your inbox?

Apologies for the delay to those who are working with me. I'm not going to be quite as active as before, as my access during the day on weekdays is now restricted. Since my availability will be adjusting accordingly, I'm providing a quick reference to my usual available times to log on, just in case anyone needs to know when I'm here or not. Please note, though, that I won't always be available at these times, although I will try to inform my fellow RPers if I'm anticipating any prolonged absences.

Those numbers don't mean anything to people in other timezones, ImpSyndrome.

Re: FFRP Central: All players start here!
Hey! I'm currently looking for a free form to join. I have been in a free form on these forums before, matter of fact I believe it was a nexus game, but do to extreme family matters(wont go into it here but am more then willing to via private communications) left(though to my own fault, without saying anything).
Anyone I'm fine with ANY setting.
If you have any questions for me, feel free to ask.

NEXUS! RETURN!
I mean, really, there's no way we can regret letting you in... you come with GIR, after all!:smalltongue:

Re: FFRP Central: All players start here!
The Nexus is always open to new and returning players. There's no penalty for real life getting in the way. Just jump in and out at your own comfort level.

How do I go about finding a list of open active Nexus games? O.o
-
Re: FFRP Central: All players start here!
All threads are technically active. What you need to do is post in one of the three taverns or the OOC. I suggest Trog's Tavern, but there's always the non-combat zone of The Dancing Fox Inn, or the seedy Black Dragon's Den.

Re: FFRP Central: All players start here!
Edit: Nvm found them(thanks to happy <3 )

Re: FFRP Central: All players start here!
Hello!
Hi people, completely new here. I'm always interested in random RPing and this just seemed like the place to go. I'm not particularly fussed about what kind of RP it is, from combat to random discussion. I just hope you can find it in your hearts (assuming you are human(oid)) to welcome me here.
-
Re: FFRP Central: All players start here!
Welcome chunkymonkey! I welcome you to this little segment of the internet. The Nexus is pretty much everything you've mentioned, though I can't tell you anything about any of the other universes. But go over to our OoC and say hi!
-
Re: FFRP Central: All players start here!
Thank you for your warm welcome, I think I might do just that.

Re: FFRP Central: All players start here!
heyyyyyyyyyyyyyy,.............

Re: FFRP Central: All players start here!
Hey, what are you looking for in a RP?

Re: FFRP Central: All players start here!
My name is Lheticus. As my player doesn't really know for certain if he's meant to introduce himself or me, we decided to do both, starting with me.
First off, Lheticus is in fact an alias. Don't ask me what's my real name--I will not tell you. I'm an interdimensional traveler, constantly searching for interesting worlds to go to and interesting sights and events to witness. I originally hail from good old Earth (or a version of it anyway) and was always obsessed with amusing myself, almost always at the expense of others--sometimes mortally at their expense, or if someone annoys me enough, they also find living to be a rather difficult thing to continue doing.
It was never enough, until I learned of a device under top secret development that was capable of locating, stabilizing, and opening portals to other worlds. I managed to steal it in a plot fully worthy of that Ocean person, despite a few complications along the way, and haven't looked back since. Survival was difficult at first, but I eventually managed to pick up the skills needed to subsist in both wild reaches beyond imagination and civilized areas more alien than actual extra-terrestrials.
What's that you ask, my abilities? Among those few across the multiverse who know of my existence, I am known as "the one who sees", because of a bit of a parlor trick that makes it seem as though I can see the future, a la Jedi a few seconds before it happens. I was born with superhuman hearing--I can locate and identify the source of even quiet sounds almost as though I have echolocation. On top of this, I've trained my eyes to TRULY see everything around me, so when pressed to defend, I can read the smallest shifts in an assailant's body weight and the tiniest changes in the environment to anticipate any attacker's next move and how to overcome it without fail. I've also gained moderate proficiency with virtually any weapon you could name as a result of spying on and sometimes legitimately enrolling in training courses for them across the multiverse, including elemental based magic.
For a long time, I was content to survive, explore, and observe every world I found myself in, but lately I've had the most dastardly itch to involve myself in the affairs of someplace, heedless of the trouble I'm well aware I'd bring upon myself. For an even longer time, I've been searching, using the jump device with a few modifications added, for a path to one certain world that by what I've been able to learn is the most interesting of all...and I've sadly yet to even come close. In the meantime, I've convinced my player in his own version of reality to use this forum thread to help find a world to keep me reasonably entertained--I've had almost no luck searching on my own, lately.
Unless somehow this isn't enough information for those helping posters in this thread to go on, I don't particularly think my player even needs an introduction now, so forget that part. ;) I look forward to what whoever helps us comes up with!
