Re: Simple RAW Thread for 3.5 #33: Doesn't everything popular die when 33?
Q 594
The cost of a Medium Adamantine Gauntlet is 3,302gp. Is the cost of a Gargantuan Adamantine Gauntlet 3,000 (adamantine) + 2 * 2(large) *2 (huge) * 2(gargantuan) = 3,008gp?
or 3,002*8=24,016?
I am thinking 3,008 because size doesn't seem to affect adamantine costs. It's 3,000gp for all light, one handed, and two handed weapons, and light weapons are two size categories smaller than two handed weapons.
edit:Fixed cost calculations.

or 3,000+ (300+2)*8 = 5416gp? or 3302*8=26,416gp?
I am thinking 3,308 because masterwork is independent of weapon size, so adamantine should be too. It's a flat +3,000 to light, medium, and large weapons so... Am I wrong?
A 594
The masterwork cost already built into the adamantine material price. It is not necessary to to pay an extra 300gp on top of that.

Adamantine is so costly that weapons and armor made from it are always of masterwork quality; the masterwork cost is included in the prices given below.

If you attack with a magical weapon from inside an anti magic field - lets say you stay right at the edge, does the weapon become magical again?
Q 596
What works in an anti magic field? EX does I think, anything else?

A 595
By RAW, attackers do not enter the target's square, so the weapon's magical property are still suppressed since the creature wielding it is in the AMF.
Similarly, a creature attacking you from outside the AMF while you are inside would still benefit from any magical bonus on their weapons, since they do not enter the AMF.
By RAW.
A 596
Anything that isn't magical, supernatural, or spell like does. Psionics don't work under the assumed Magic-Psionics Transparency. Alchemical items work as usual, as do constructs and other magical creatures (unless they've been summoned and don't have Spell Resistance)

Q 597
A Wyrm Wizard's class feature Spell Research allows them to "select one spell from any class's spell list (including divine spells)" and it to their arcane casting class spell list.
Would spells that only exist in a Domain count as being on "any class's spell list"?

No. I rule lawyered this pretty hard but it is very clear that domains are independent of clerics or any other class.
However

Depending on how you interpret the word "Effectively", all domain exclusive spells are on some Divine Crusader's class spell list, though one might interpret it such that it is on the class spell list of that Character and not its class (just like how wyrm wizard adds spells to the character's class and not for all wizards)

Q 598
If your speed is 30ft, can you move 15ft, do a standard action, and move another 15ft?
-
Re: Simple RAW Thread for 3.5 #33: Doesn't everything popular die when 33?
A 598
No, you cannot split your movement that way. There are howver feats that let you do an attack during your movement.
-
Re: Simple RAW Thread for 3.5 #33: Doesn't everything popular die when 33?
A 598 - Addendum
One such a feat is "Spring Attack", especially the revised version in the Premium Player's Handbook, which is the most recent printing of the feat. Though it only works for attacks.

Moving in this way does not provoke an attack of opportunity from the defender you attack, though it might provoke attacks of opportunity from other creatures, if appropriate. You can't use this feat if you are wearing heavy armor.
You must move at least 5 feet both before and after you make your attack in order to utilize the benefits of Spring Attack.
The "Flyby Attack" feat allows you to use any Standard Action, but requires a flying speed.

A Musteval (BoED p.174) has a racial ability called Focused Movement that allows it to do exactly this, but it is an exception to the norm.

Q 599
Does spells like Bane (clr 1) or abilities like bard song inspire courage affect attacks from Cloud of Knives (wiz 2)?
-
Re: Simple RAW Thread for 3.5 #33: Doesn't everything popular die when 33?
A 599
The Bane spell does not interact with the Cloud of Knives spell at all. You are probably thinking about the Bane weapon special ability. I have no idea how to get that on the knives conjured by the spell.
Inspire courage affect the attack roll made with the knives but not the damage as the damage is not classified as weapon damage.

Q 601
Can the Fiendform Spell turn you into a Spined Devil if you're not LE?
It says it can turn you into any demon, devil, or fiendish creature that can be summoned by SMI-IV.
Spined Devils can be summoned by LE spellcasters by permanently replacing fiendish giant wasp, but is not on the default list.

As per the general rules for monsters as player characters, creatures without an Intelligence score should not be playable. The dustform template has a level adjustment, but that doesn't necessarily override the general rule. Ultimately, its playability will be at the discretion of the DM.

The spell doesn't care whether you personally can summon it with that spell, it just cares whether it can be summoned with that spell. So your alignment shouldn't be an issue.

Re: Simple RAW Thread for 3.5 #33: Doesn't everything popular die when 33?
Q 603
1. Does Girallon's Blessing give you 4 claw attacks in addition to your normal natural attacks that don't use hands? So a pit fiend that uses 2 claws, 2 wings, a bite, and a tail slap, will now do 4 claws only or 4 claws, 2 wings, a bite, and a tail slap?
2. If you had no arms and get only 2 arms from this spell, do you still get 4 claw attacks? Or just two attacks?
3. If you're not medium sized, do you get increased claw damage?
4. Despite secondary arms being not primary, does it still attack at full bab without the -5 penalty to hit?
-
Re: Simple RAW Thread for 3.5 #33: Doesn't everything popular die when 33?
Q 603
This is a bit of a massive cluster question seeking a couple of simple clarifications on different applications of the same mechanic. Sorry.
Can a creature with the appropriate skills/speeds do the following as part of making a 5 ft adjustment/taking a 5 ft step (or a 10 ft step by virtue of the Sparring Dummy of the Master item):
1) make a hide check (provided there is cover/concealment)
2) make a tumble check (with added DC for full speed) to move through an occupied square (10 ft step)
3) make a jump check to ignore difficult terrain
4) make a jump check for a high-jump onto an elevated surface within 5-10 ft of horizontal distance
5) make a jump and climb check to high-jump, grab onto and pull up onto a ledge within 5 ft reach above
6) climb up/down a wall 5 ft as an accelerated climb
7) climb up with a climb speed
8) fly up (manoeuvrability variable)
9) burrow down, with regular burrow or earth glide

A602: The Augmented subtype indicates you get the traits of the type but not the features. Immunity to negative levels and being healed by negative energy/damage by positive are both traits hence an undead with the augmented subtype would be subject to those just as much as a regular undead.
Q605: The Sphere of annihilation says any matter that comes into contact with it is destroyed. Temporal Stasis says that nothing can harm the subject. How does a creature affected by Temporal Stasis interact with a Sphere of Annihilation then?

1. It can be used in conjunction with other natural weapons normally, yes.
2. Four claw attacks, regardless of its original number of arms. This is a minor dysfunction.
3. No, although effects that subsequently increase your size may increase the damage.
4. Yes, as per the spell.

You can take a 5-foot step using any mode of movement for which you have a movement speed. (RC 90)
1. Yes, unless you're sniping, in which case it's a move action to Hide.
2. Tumbling is normally part of a move action, but that's because it's part of your movement. DM discretion.
3. See 2.
4. See 2.
5. You could only do the climbing part if you have a climb speed.
6. Only with a climb speed.
7. Yes.
8. Yes, if you have a fly speed.
9. Yes.

You may not take a 5-foot step using a form of movement for which you do not have a listed speed.

No.

No.

Q 607
Do spells that uses metal to inflict damage (like Rain of Spines or Storm of Needles, mostly Wu Jen spell from the Metal element) are affected by Damage Reduction?
That's significant since they aren't energy spells, and often ignore spell resistance too, meaning if Damage Reduction doesn't concern them, there're little you can do to defend against this damage.
Q 608
If a familiar receives an Imbue Familiar with Spell Ability spell, can it then uses spells that strictly affect "the caster's familiar" (like Augment Familiar, Enhance Familiar, Fortifiy Familiar) on itself?
-
Re: Simple RAW Thread for 3.5 #33: Doesn't everything popular die when 33?

Spells do not do weapon damage unless specified. Only weapon damage is subject to DR.
A 608
No. The familiar is the caster but not its own familiar.

A 609
"Advancing" through age categories is not the same thing as "getting older".
The ability score changes covered in the table for Aging Effects under the "Vital Statistics" heading of the PHB and SRD are theoretically universal, but per RAW only apply to creatures which are specifically given vital statistics to make use of them.
As a DM, you could certainly create aging tables for any monster race you'd like.
Advancing through age categories, on the other hand, is a term specific to true dragons. It refers to the monster statistic blocks that accompany them which indicate the various abilities acquired by true dragons as they gain racial hit dice and simultaneously increase in age. The "Dragon Age Categories" table found here, is cross-referenced with the Advancement line of the dragon's individual statistic block to determine how many hit dice is has based on it's age category. Additional tables that accompany each variety of true dragon will then list the other abilities given to each dragon of that particular age category.

would a character with sneak attack who cast persistent blade (spell compendium page 154) get to apply precision damage on a blade's successful attack roll, if it was flanking an enemy within 30 feet of the caster?
