The thing with that is it was never planned to be one. But the only way Nasu could get the thing published was by signing on with a publisher who only did Eroges, who mandated all of their releases have those kinds of scenes. So he had to brute force add in a few, just to meet publisher guidelines. Its why when playing the visual novel those scenes come out of nowhere and feel very out of place.
And lets not forget the JRPG Fate Extra was more into that sort of stuff then the original. Including such weird designs as Elisabeth Bathroy, Nero Claudius, Francis Drake, Sesshoin Kiara, and I'm sure a few others I'm forgetting. And then there is the final boss's Evil Plan in CCC, which is just fully out there, and VERY much against forum rules to talk about.

Thing about Altera - Saber Altera, at least - while she's wearing the relative equivalent of a swimsuit, she's not sexualized much at all as a character. I think the closest comparison in the Nasuverse to her would be Shiki, but Shiki has more of a sense of humour.
Altera is characterized as - ignoring the ancient alien eldrich abomination aspect of her - a pitiless force of nature with a glimmer of humanity underneath that profoundly doesn't want to be the unchecked Destroyer she's inherently designed to be. That's what you get with Altera Saber, in every line of dialogue and interlude.
Altera Archer on the other hand is a whole different - and adorable - character.

I guess I'll see when I get to her. I haven't reached that part yet, so the fact that I dislike her appearance is literally the only thing I've seen of her yet. Of course, good characterization still doesn't change the question of 'what do you have against sensible clothing?'
Actually that's something I want to see. A character who actually has a grudge against pants and that's why they dress skimpily.
-
Re: Fate/Grand Order IV - Are you my Master? [Rerun - Lite]
Yeah. Keep in mind that, when interacting with Brinhildr, who is kind-of sort-of a fictional version of Attila's wife, Altera's response is "Wait, I was married? You'd think I would have noticed." That's about the extent of how sex and romance plays into her character. She wears basically no clothing because her tattoos (actually birthmarks) are literally a mark of the favour of her peoples' war god; she is, in effect, a living battle standard. And for all that she wants to be something other than a warlord who annihilates civilization, she was pretty much created as an engine of destruction and nothing else.
Again, if you look at her poses and animations you'll see the difference between her and the 'sexy' characters; at rest she stands ready, sword at hand, head high and vigilant. In combat, she moves fast and hits hard. She doesn't pose. Her model has no jiggle physics (and, frankly, by Fate standards her bust is extremely modest). Her cards and models focus on her flat eyes, her sword and her tattoos, and the closest thing to fanservice in her final Ascension card is that she's got the ghost of a smile on her face... While her sword dominates the artwork, and she stands amidst the flames of a burning city annihilated by her Noble Phantasm. Compare to... Oh, Ann and Mary, say, for an example of a case where the fanservice gets played to the hilt. :smalleek:
Hell, even Shiki gets a 'sexy pose' on her Ascension 4 card. Altera, by comparison, is just her normal self, slightly happy, surrounded by destruction.
... Actually, while I always just appreciated the smile before, the context of that card is... Mildly disturbing to say the least.

Consider yourself lucky that Altera is the way she is in FGO. Her debut game was horny as hell.

That being the Dynasty Warriors clone, where Nero Claudius had a Plunging neckline catsuit, had a frilly dress with a high hemline when she attacks with flips and jumps, cutscenes with cameras at poor angles compared to characters with skirts, and all topped off with Bath Scenes with all the playable cast members. Yeah, the Extra series with its Extella followup were very much built for fanservice. Also, almost all the DLC were full costumes for all the characters, including swimsuits, maids, and casual wear.

This made me google something, and I came across a Fate Extra mooncell season of anime I haven't come across before. It's weird, but watchable. Nero is certainly more entertaining than the OG saber.
This event raid is rough, what are people's lineups for max level raid? I only could do the 2nd level raid, and that's with 10/10/10 mech eli + merlin, waiver & santa altera plugsuit.

I went for 10/10/10 Kintoki rider and support Skadi to one-turn the second node. At first it took several turns to beat the boss, but over time I dealt enough damage that I could one-shot it. Can,t really touch the third raid, though, with his crit star eating skill that he uses if you have over 20 crit stars. Whose idea was that? If I had a Skadi of my own, I probably would have been able to do the hardest node.
Well, anyway, I'm done farming for the raid. I got 100 boss kills, so that's good enough for me.

I'm running Ramses II(Frost Fighting Bear) Waver(Mona Lisa) Support Skadi/Merlin(Mona Lisa) Shakespeare(Golden Karp) and two filler event characters with drop CEs and with the Plug Suit Mystic Code. As long as Ramses gets a buster card, or even 2 of his other cards, I can one turn the 2.5 Million boss. Buster never died, it still does its job against these kinds of bosses. The QP drops arent as nice as the Apocrapha event, but its still worth it bringing Mona Lisa to the raids.

Re: Fate/Grand Order IV - Are you my Master? [Rerun - Lite]
Did you MLB the frost bear? I'm behind, so only level 20 ce
-
Re: Fate/Grand Order IV - Are you my Master? [Rerun - Lite]
I just used double Skadi + Altera Archer + Shuten Douji. Shuten would do her debuffs & buffs and then I'd switch to the second Skadi to do the usual, and that worked 90% of the time. For the 10% time it didn't work - for whatever reason - I made sure to stun him so he'd die on turn two regardless.
The first couple runs were pretty hectic since I had less than half the full damage potential unlocked and was trying to maximize the use of Event Servants, but after getting to the million-and-something point and MLBing the first CE it became very routine.

Nope. Level 1 single copy Bear CE. However, I will fully admit to having a very exceptional Ramses. He's level 100 and NP5. So not something most can duplicate. Whenever I fight a caster or berserker boss hes my go to servant. Especially in these cases where there's no break bar and I can pile on the buffs and NP turn one.
Edit: I also am very far in the points, so the damage CEs are at the full 500% boost.

I'm getting really tired of these event's with raid bosses who disappear after x kills.

It sucks they timed it so it barely last a day, and the servers were struggling as well the whole time.

If it had been based on damage instead of kills, it wouldn't even have lasted hours. Pour one out for Barbatos.
That's the thing - if it's a raid event, as opposed to merely a "farm this all you want over a fixed period of time" event, there has to be a demarcation point. A fixed end point that the players can reach by their own efforts. And there are a lot of players, and they are very active. The fact that it lasted as long as it did is surprising.

Yeah I think it was down a lot faster in Japan.
I stopped paying attention to how many points/currency I had while farming it...by the end I had 3 million points and totally cleared out the shop, except for the gold statues which i need the absolute least.
-
Re: Fate/Grand Order IV - Are you my Master? [Rerun - Lite]
I farmed the third node with Abby/Hokusai/Waver. It wasn't fast, but it did the job. I probably should have farmed more Magifender points to improve my damage potential if I was going to be serious about the raid. Scraped a couple more aurora steel out of it, and that's what matters I suppose.

Re: Fate/Grand Order IV - Are you my Master? [Rerun - Lite]
I'm perplexed by the challenge quest. I mean, I did it, and it's not that hard really. I'm just not clear why my Ereshkigal at 500% Buster damage was doing so little to Sitonai even after her defensive buffs were gone. I assumed there was some kind of CQ-related damage mitigation buff at play, but there doesn't appear to be. Yet Eresh was doing around 150K damage with a full NP-Buster-Arts Brave Chain and her Mana Burst buff active. Which isn't nothing, I suppose, but seems pretty low given the circumstances.

Earth types only deal 90% vs sky types. Eresh is also very weak attack in general, even with full buffs

Real life obligations kept me from being able to play very much over the weekend. I was only even able to attempt the raid at all one time, and I lost.

Agreed. Raid events are the absolute worst.

Then they should either raise that number to a point where it's active long enough for everyone to participate as much as they need to, or better yet just not have raid events at all.

"If I can't have nice things, nobody can" is hardly the way to do events.

This is true. I remember one raid event where they tried that - raising the number - and they overshot it. The raid simply wasn't going down in the allotted time, at the expected pace. And then, overnight, it suddenly dropped a chunk - players suspected the devs specifically dropped the number to allow the players to meet the goal.
Point is, it is possible to overcorrect. There may be a happy medium, but they're still looking for it. And until they find it, a raid you can finish is better than one you can't.
Or, in the alternative, they could go the Apocrypha route with future raids, and simply cycle them continuously for the duration of the event. The advantage is that everyone will get raiding time in. Of course, the disadvantage is that the continuous raiding will likely distract you from the rest of the event, if you're still doing that.

If your getting distracted from the rest of the event because you keep doing the raids past what you need to do then that is a mistake your making of your own choice and not a flaw in the games choices at letting people access them better.

'Need' isn't necessarily what's happening though. Most raids have incredible ascension material drop rates, and people often do as many raid kills as possible because the resource gain is too good to pass up. Incidentally, that's why raids finish so quickly, because players are going all out on the resource treasure trove.
-
Re: Fate/Grand Order IV - Are you my Master? [Rerun - Lite]
Again if you are getting distracted by the raids because you want to farm those items and fail to finish the event then that's on you and not the event for making the content accessible.

It's better than "give a huge bonus to a few players and screw everyone else."

This is the way to do it. Having just one raid that's over in a couple hours because whales ruin it for everyone else is stupid. The disadvantage you give here is nothing more than opportunity cost - that's not a real argument against it.

Re: Fate/Grand Order IV - Are you my Master? [Rerun - Lite]
So, I actually started to use the Command Codes. I gave Ishtar (Rider) the one that cleanses a debuff from this event as to let her use her Invincibility skill without the stun effect, and that's worked out well. I'm hoping I'll get another code like it for Altera's third skill, especially since her stun demerit takes so long that the code would certainly come up -- will we get these codes again on a rerun?
I also gave Eresh's singular Arts card the crit star gathering code from this summer - because a crit on that can completely charge her NP - but for the life of me I can't see any discernable difference in the star distribution. I really don't fathom the math behind that.
-
Re: Fate/Grand Order IV - Are you my Master? [Rerun - Lite]
I have a 100% crit gather code on one of Tomoe's Busters and it often doesnt get more starts than the non coded one.

How much you notice it will depend on how many stars you have and team comp and luck of the draw. Like if you have a team of archers you aren't going to notice it much. And even with say a couple berzekers as backup each star is effectively rolled separately. If you get all gozens cards then the command one has 1/3 chance for each star and the other cards have 1/6 each, while just getting two of her cards with 3 zerker cards will be approximately 2/3 to the command card and 1/3 to the non command card.
Edit: for clerification each card has a crit star wieght. Tomoe's base wieght is 153 on each card and the command code doubles it I believe. The extremely noticable buffs like raikou's add 1000 or more to thier cards' wieght.

Re: Fate/Grand Order IV - Are you my Master? [Rerun - Lite]
So i'd be better off with it on someone with a higher weight? She's my Fav archer so i thought i'd give her some love. The only other codes i have in play are ProtoCu having Anti Beast ones on his buster cards
In terms of Teams she is most often out with Emyia and a friends Tomoe these days in a anti Sabre team but in mixed could be anything, i do favor Arts Buster servants.
