"You weren't bad either."
Jenny steps into the machine.
"Next stop, Clarke-in-Action."
Light
Light nods to Misa, "A name; we've got a name. Now we just need a face." Light looks up at the castle, "Let's get in there and get an explanation on how to get the actual world back."
Jenny and Ozymandius
The machine hums and takes you both to the carrier. The ex-doctor is still lying on a bed, his non-existent heart and brain being monitored for no reason, and Rose's corpse has vanished as though she never was.
Everything seems to be working fine, except all of it's instruments are not reading anything. They are pointed at the wrong world
Light and Midnighter
Hartigan inclines his head, locks the car and removes his keys. Then he leads the way in.
As Midnighter moves to follow him, Swift lands behind. She's panting, there is a deep cut along her cheekbone and another in her neck, as well as plenty of superficial scratches. "How is Apollo?" She asks breathlessly. "Jack's alive, but not well. I couldn't get him out."
Anderson and Ghost Rider
As the two of you talk, three women in form fitting, in-concealing leather step down the stairs, hips and severe braids swaying as they walk. They are dressed in red leather. The sort that doesn't show the stains.
The lead one sees the is glaring, the others have no interest or investment in the matter at hand whatsoever. "Richard has requested your presence. If you will come with me?"
Ozymandius
Adrian looks around, face calculatedly blank. Then he sits down. "Well, we can enter the co-ordinates of the teleporter, and target my tower. We won't hit anyone, but it will get us pointed the right way and serve as a warning shot."
Jenny
Jenny nods her agreement, and gets to it.
"I'll also run a diagnostic on the Door and orbital cannon systems. See how good magic is against an orbital laser. Just like Independence Day. But I am not being bloody Will Smith."
She starts pressing buttons and calling up displays.
"I don't need to tell you that if you try to copy or patent any of this...well. It isn't that we don't trust you. It's that we don't trust the people who would come after you for having some of this."
The Midnighter
"He's by the front entrance. He's injured as well, but he'll be fine. It's a nice, sunny day. Get him a safe distance away; I'll worry about Jack. And it's going to be bloody."
Light
"Don't kill anyone Midnighter; we're lacking in information, so first we have to...interrogate them." Interrogate was a good word for this.
Ozymandius
"I'd think you were a fool if you did." He said. "But fear not. I've already memorized anything of value, and should be able to reverse engineer it it." He's joking. Maybe.
"So then, fire away, leave a crater, and then beam me down to negotiate his unconditional surrender."
The Midnighter
Swift glares at you. "You're going back in, aren't you?" She closes her eyes. "No. I won't let you kill yourself. We're already running half mast, we can't lose you to." Then she blinks. "Who's the kid? He's sort of cute, in a chess club way. You're not usually the sort to pick up strays. Are you thinking of getting a sidekick?" She stares at Light again. "He might look good in tights..."
Ozymandius and Jenny
The systems lock on, standing and ready to vaporize a tower full of priceless artifacts and irreplaceable technology, as well as the headquarters of the worlds largest corporation.
And that's not even to mention what's in Wizard's Keep.
Light
"I think we can ensure victory here." Light gestures back to Hartigan and Misa, "As long as Midnighter can fight, we can get rid of the targets if given about a minute."
Light
She blinks, then stares up at Midnighter. "Who is this guy?"
The Midnighter
The Midnighter glares at Swift. If his gaze could kill...well most of the people in the world would be dead. But still.
"Swift, I'd like you to meet Kira. The reason why we never have to go to Japan."
Jenny Sparks
"No need to destroy your tower, Adrien. We just needed it to set base coordinates."
Jenny punches up several more systems, and reactivates both Door and radiotelepathy systems. Time for the Authority to communicate again
"Attention Buddhist cows, leather fetishists, and just alien abductees. I'll give you three guesses who this is and where I am. For those of you sods who thought I was dead, you should have realized I'm like herpes. You just can't bloody get rid of me."
Turning to Veidt, she smiles.
"How about we vaporize their moat?"
Light
Light gives a polite half-bow, "Guilty as charged. Big fan of your work. Also meet my associates, Misa Amane, pop idol and Hartigan, unemployed." Light gestures back to them.
Light and Midnighter
Hartigan offers them a slight nod. An old school cop, he has no use for vigilante justice, unaware of the latent hypocrisy of this when considering his own actions against fugitives, which are rather more illegal then most superheroes would dream of performing.
Swift whistles at your introduction. It sounds unsettlingly like a bird chirping. "Well then, I owe you an apology. You are far bigger then him. Midnighter here should be your sidekick." She then backs away, out of her erstwhile partners reach, and smiles up. "Hey there Jenny! Spare us a lift?"
Ozymandius
"No, measures like that never do any good. Think impressive." He's smiling like a schoolboy. "What do you say we carve your initials on the castle?"
Jenny Sparks
"Hello yourself. Now, you're looking a mite bit unhealthy. This is a secure radiotelepathic frequency, so we can't be overheard, but it can only do so much from here. Let's get you back on the Carrier for healing. The Door system should be functioning on your end. And no, the Jap can't come aboard; I don't trust him. No offense."
Jenny ponders Veidt's statement. Her smile at Swift's comments grows wider.
"Better, but not quite there yet. They have a hard-on for Ayn Rand, don't they? Let's burn the sickle and hammer into their tallest tower."
The Midnighter
"I should break something for that comment."
He says this in a perfectly calm manner, almost conversationally. It is far more effective than his usual angry tone.
Ozymandius
That gets a chuckle. "Now that I would like to see." He says, sitting back, his eyes wavering over to the monitor. "Pity they won't grasp the significance."
Jenny Sparks
Swift ignores you. Just once, she's willing to let you have the last word. Of course, you always get the last word in the end, as many people can't testify due to lack of spines.
"Well, I could use a rest. Can you get Hawksmoor out too? Those closet dominatrix/leather fantasy women dragged him away, and I had to get out of there."
Jenny Sparks
"I can open a Door in close proximity to him. It isn't covered by the remains of the electrical grid, so I'll be pretty useless. Opening a Door to you now."
As Swift joins the two on the bridge of the Carrier, Jenny whistles.
"Now that that's done, we've got two options. Well, more than two options, but two options on the table. One, we carve the sickle and hammer into the tallest tower in the castle and demand their unconditional surrender. Or two, we rescue Hawksmoor, then carve the sickle and hammer. Question is, do you think he'll be still be alive if we go with One?"
Ozymandius
Adrian shakes his head. "No they won't. He's alive, but not useful. If we try that, they'll threaten to kill him. And men like these lie about anything except their threats, and we'll be at a standoff."
He gets up. "But they do not realize how valuable he is. He'll be under guard, but it will be him they are guarding against. Not us."
Jenny
Swift chimes in. "I don't have a clue where they dragged him. I don't even know where the dungeons are. That place is big. Like an entire city in a single building."
Midnighter
Apollo is on his feet, and sweating profusely. You think he might have a fever. "There you are." He mumbles. "Why did you leave me?"
The Midnighter
"Sorry, angel. Had a few maniacs to deal with. And one guy who killed himself rather than face me. Come on now. Let's get you to the Carrier. Jenny! Open up another Door! I'm going up! With Kira!"
Picking his husband up, despite his protests...loud, virulent protests...The Midnighter turns to the Japanese college student and his associates.
"You'll have to be blindfolded on the Carrier. So you don't get any ideas about stealing tech."
Jenny
"Roger, sending another Door your way. Ponce."
Jenny thinks for a moment.
"Like I said; there isn't any sort of modern power conduits I can use in that place. And whatever training I had in the military is over sixty years out of date. I'll stay back on the Carrier, act as mission control. If they make a counter-assault, I'll be here to defend this old girl, and see to Apollo and Swift."
Swift is shaking her head. "I'm fine, I swear." She says convincingly. "You need my help a lot more then I need medication."
Jenny
Jenny looks over Swift again.
"Then get yourself something temporary before you head out again. Because if you don't come back, I will get very, very ticked off. If you find yourself weakening, I want a Door back here immediately. Or else. Clear."
Her tone is harsh; her expression isn't. Far from it.
The portal opens to allow the auxiliary members and actual members of the Authority in. Swift lifts an arm to stop the three after Midnighter and his husband, then hands Light, Misa and Hartigan blindfolds, and glares at them. She's not nearly as intimidating as Midnighter, but she looses absolutely nothing in effort.
"I'm sure you of all people can appreciate the desire for secrecy." She says. "Now, we'll bring you up, and I'm sure we can arrange to have the charges against you cleared or whatever else you want, but that's all. Understand?"
Midnighter
Apollo struggles weakly against you. That's not good. Normally he had to be gentle with you.
"No. Can't go up there. No sun. Need sun. Just leave me. I'll be fine soon."
Ghost Rider
"Who wants to see us and why should I care?" Blaze asks the leather wearing women.

Kirby
"That is acceptable. Show me the portal." Kirby accepts the Fallen's offer.

The Bride
With that information The Bride looks around for Travis, Sam and Alice since in all this excitement she lost track of them and going alone would be foolish.
Light
Light nods and puts on the blindfold; the only thing he might need is already his, namely the names and faces of any of the Authorities that don't wear masks. Misa really was a super weapon, even if she didn't look or act it.
Kirby
The figure shudders in some form of ecstasy. "The portal is in Italy. Just as god so loved the world, so to did his most constant enemy. Simply use him."
Ghost Rider
"Lord Rahl asks your presence. That should be enough." You sense something odd about these women. Some undefined danger that nonetheless niggles at you. They are far more then they appear to be.
Light
Swift nods approvingly and leads you through the portal.
The Bride
Sam is standing behind you. He looks different. Taller, squarer, more confident in himself. He's holding a scythe.
Alice is dead, her body broken and her head missing.
And Travis is presumably killing Felix, although he hasn't posted in a while.
Anderson
The huge priest looks at Ghost Rider in askance. He himself has no idea what is going on, and could use some answers. He is also yet to encounter any of Richards minions, so is yet to pass judgement on them.
"Only god an' yin who speak fer Him may command me, lassie." He says, while considering. "But I suppose I can oblige him a moment."
Anderson
"God is a lie." She replies sharply. "A naive fantasy for those lacking the strength of character to take charge of their own lives. An idol bereft of any significance."
Anderson
In the next moment, everything seems totally silent.
Most priests will ignore such remarks, or engage in a theological debate. Saying that sort of thing around Anderson should only be done if you are secretly unsure and want to arrange a meeting, or you feel you have wrangled all the meaning you can from life and are tired of it.
Fortunately, the world is full of atheists, and Anderson is rational enough, just about, to know you can't simply kill them or beat them until they convert.
Anderson stares at her. He has gone very quiet. "That a fact?" He asks calmly. His hands are clenched to fists, however, and a muscle above his right eye twitches.
"Well, lassie, I hope ye find some small meaning in ae hollow an' empty life." He says, then his teeth clench. "Noo' ye'd best get awa', while I can restrain myself from doin' ye all harm." He continues, unconsciously taking a step forward.
