I don't know a ton about thrash, but there are a few bands I f'ing love.
I'd stumbled onto a few Artillery songs before during my various trawlings of youtube for new music, and had always liked what I'd heard, but never really looked into them in any great detail. I finally did a few days ago as a result of you linking them and they are now my favorite Thrash band. So yeah, thanks for that.
Also, this seems relevant to the thread.

Re: Metal Thread VI: We're So Kvlt, We Have Frostbite On Our Devil Horn Fingers
It's quite obvious that this thread needs a good ol' dosage of thrash. Thus, I present to you a few of the best bands that this subgenre has to offer, and would love to hear your thoughts on some/all of these guys:
Revocation (my personal favorite thrash band)
Coroner
Morbid Saint
Sadus
Death Angel
Havok
Tankard
Sodom

Actually,
Beyond Creation turned out pretty decent. Practically godly compared with all the crap I came across before them. :v
I'm your go-to tech death/brutal death metal guy.
Beyond Creation is great. Another band you should check out is Lost Soul. Good tunes without the wankery. Neuraxis, Son of Aurelius, Severed Savior, Hour of Penance, Demilich, are all other good choices too. Tell me what you think.
I personally like some bands like Brain Drill, but I understand your gripes with them.

Re: Metal Thread VI: We're So Kvlt, We Have Frostbite On Our Devil Horn Fingers
The new Spawn of Possession album is very enjoyable. Also, Neglected Fields are choice. I've only heard their second and third albums, but they're both very enjoyable.
I dunno if by new you mean 2000s+, but some good 90s albums are the incredible Dreams of the Carrion Kind (Decapitated wish they could sound like Disincarnate), Darkthrone's Soulside Journey and The Red in the Sky is Ours, which was before At the Gates decided being boring melodeath was a good career move.

are you familiar with the metal mastery that is Revocation?
also, my new lappy has beats speakers
is it normal that they do not play nice with the death metulz?

Expecting Beats to "play nice", full stop, is a little optimistic. :smalltongue:

You know significantly more about Death Metal than I do, so I feel like suggesting anything to you would be pointless. Oh well. For some surprisingly pleasant to the ears techdeath, I give you StarGazer.

Death Metal (especially Technical DM) is in a little bit of a rut these days. But there are a few forward-thinking DM bands out there, like The Chasm and Portal.

Re: Metal Thread VI: We're So Kvlt, We Have Frostbite On Our Devil Horn Fingers
The only death metal band I can really get behind is Gojira. I'm really not a fan of the tight production of most of the bands. Also the drummer for Gojira is god-like.

Of their current artists, I only care about Disincarnate (who are "on hold" and haven't released anything in almost two decades, so I'm not sure if even counts), and sorta Rush though I only listen to their best of album Spirit of the Radio. >_> Early Satyricon was good, but again not sure if it counts. I don't actually hate all Dream Theater. I like... Octavarium. [/blasphemy]
One of my first DM bands. Such a beautiful sense of both atmosphere and technicality. A lot of modern DM bands are missing the atmosphere of old bands. They were brutal, but also atmospheric.

90% of everything is crap.
Not really feeling all of the songs linked, but this discussion has served as a useful reminder of my fondness for Beyond Creation and Son of Aurelius from previous encounters with them, and Disincarnate, The Chasm, and one or two others were also decent.
Also, the vocals are seriously awful in Demilich. The riffs are actually pretty decent, but the guy sounds for all the world like he's burping the lyrics.
While I suspect that you already know of and have opinions on both bands, I may as well mention Necrophagist and Obscura. Both bands have a fair bit of wankery to them, but there's more musicality to it than with Brain Drill and their ilk.

I was counting bands that are still releasing quality albums. Albeit, I was probably not being very fair to Rush, whom I know are still making good music that I just haven't gotten around to yet.

True, but I'm not assessing all music here; this is a label that specializes in a style of music of which I'm quite fond. I'm comparing it to labels like The End, Profound Lore, Southern Lord, and even more comparably large labels like Nuclear Blast.

Ew, Nuclear Blast. :smalltongue:
As far as labels, for me Flenser Records, Hospital Productions and Cold Meat Industry pop to mind.
