Re: [Nexus] AMEN XLIII: REVOLUTION!
Main Entrance
Shayan breathes out a sigh. Here's one she hasn't met yet. Might as well exchange greetings in passing then, and hope that Magtok's appraisal of AMENites as a bunch of violent loons was a disingenuous one.
"Boring, I'm afraid. Two scientists we are, come home to roost and pluck at our nests until the fluff and twigs have been properly arranged." Her voice takes on its usual distant tone, and her eyes cloud over just moments before she speaks.

Little birds in a nest, with violence for a cress. In you gowith a prize, ask for what you want, I have much inside.
For madness within and without abides.
-
Re: [Nexus] AMEN XLIII: REVOLUTION!
Main Entrance
Cin looks over the entrance speaking with a bit of curiosity, and while he can't find a ready source of the sound, he doesn't think it's AMEN itself that is speaking. "Boring for something of your talents most likely." Cin admits. "Or maybe amusing depending on if you were to see what happens when someone else tries to figure it out."

Re: [Nexus] AMEN XLIII: REVOLUTION!
Main Entrance
Shayan makes a show of tapping a finger to her chin. A prize hm? Well, if only everyone she met was so reasonable and giving.
"I find myself lacking in knowledge of anatomy and biochemistry, two things vital to my current line of work. If this prize could expand the limits of my knowledge, it may greatly help my success rate later on." She then looks to Cin, wondering what, if anything, he would ask for.

Working of the flesh you seek, teaching from fleshcrafters I can teach.

Re: [Nexus] AMEN XLIII: REVOLUTION!
Entrance
Cin rummages through his bag for a moment before pulling out a scalpel. "If you could make it so this one's edge didn't dull, I'd be grateful." The professor ventures, hoping that's the sort of thing that was okay.
-
Re: [Nexus] AMEN XLIII: REVOLUTION!
Main Entrance
Shayan nods, "I needn't be able to craft flesh, I just wish to understand it better. If that suits you, of course." The symbiotic AMENite isn't sure what this mercurial fellow's tastes are.
-
Re: [Nexus] AMEN XLIII: REVOLUTION!
Entrance
Black threads weave themselfs out of the ground the walls, and form a cloaked figure is woven out of the threads.
Knowledge and just sharpness. Simple and valueable. MAd and normal choices.
It seems to smile but you can't see it's face.
Perfect
It steps forward towards Shayan, while the air flowing around starts to whistle when it passes over Cin's scalpel.
-
Re: [Nexus] AMEN XLIII: REVOLUTION!
Entrance
Cin is grateful for the sharpness on his blade. Generally, they only last for a little while before he's forced to dispose of them, making quite a bit of a mess. This would prevent all of that. Even so, he watches what happens to Shayan very closely, somewhat concerned at the extent of her wish and what might be the result.
-
Re: [Nexus] AMEN XLIII: REVOLUTION!
Main Entrance
Ah, so this was the culprit. Well, colour her intrigued yet again.
"No one claimed I wasn't a bit mad, roosting raven. Let us swoop on the currents together for a time, and you can teach me how your wings beat so softly."

Re: [Nexus] AMEN XLIII: REVOLUTION!
Entrance
By not flying, JUST FORCING THE WORLD TO BEND OR BRAKE!!!!!!!!!!!!
It surges forward mostly just a black blur, if she doesn't move fast enough. It will goes right through Shayan.
Leaving behind a huge amount of knowledge of how countless living things are put together. Knowledge which holds hints in the thoughts,
that it was obtained from taking things apart again and again never letting them die even when parts are mixed with parts of things that hurt the mind to think of.
Flashes of horror after horror inflected on being after being, but what makes it all the more terrible is the empathy, the pain of the cuts,
the pocking can be felt reflected but twisted almost unbearable to stand yet not really touching the watcher or seems to even matter to the mind doing all this.
-
Re: [Nexus] AMEN XLIII: REVOLUTION!
Main Entrance
Shayan does not falter an iota as the back mass surges towards her, but when it passes through her she collapses, rather aptly, like a puppet with her strings cut. Her six vines flail and twitch before piling over her in a heap.
There is a beat, and then two, of nothing but silence and stillness from her prone form, and then her head whips up with a gasp that sounds as if it wants to be a scream.
And then it passes, and her face is as placid and vacant as ever. Her cloudy brown eyes blink blearily as she struggles to push herself up off the ground with shuddering limbs, and ultimately fails.
"I thank you for the lesson, gentle raven, and decline another. That will be more than sufficient, now and forever." Her voice, though distant, has become rather haunted since she last spoke. Somehow she has managed to repress the reflected pain and anguish, while retaining the powerful rewards.
-
Re: [Nexus] AMEN XLIII: REVOLUTION!

Perfect, enjoy your stay.
The figure, unweaves itself into black threads that go back into the ground and the walls.

Re: [Nexus] AMEN XLIII: REVOLUTION!
Main Entrance
The voice was certainly similar enough, but there's surely plenty of people out there in the Nexus with voices resembling Professor Cin's, right? People who would also have surprises if someone tried to attack them, certainly. People who are also scientists, and involved in work that would necessitate the use of scalpels, and residing in the Riverside area, and...and surely it can't be Cin, can it? I mean, this guy doesn't even have an infernal otherworldly glow surrounding his body. Surely the real Cin would be so vile as to be immediately repulsive and sick and frightening, right? And the world wouldn't be so cruel as to allow him to team up with Shayan...right?
The cyborg waves from the main room, crawling out from underneath the couch, where he undoubtedly had been hiding from Dark Lord's madness.
"Oh hey, Shayan. I see you've met one of the more unpleasant members of our esteemed organization. Nasty little otherworldy wretch, that guy. I'm heading over to the kitchen, can I get you and your new subject anything to drink?"
Magtok never thought he's be hoping that a guy is Shayan's test subject, but when the alternative is a fiendish plant lady/murderous surgical psychopath team-up...well, you take what small comforts you can get.
-
Re: [Nexus] AMEN XLIII: REVOLUTION!
Entrance\
Once the creature leaves, Cin will give Shayan a hand up, smiling a bit before leading her inside to where Magtok meets them. As soon as he sees the cyborg, he looks ecstatic. "It is wonderful to finally meet you, good sir. Please, call me Cin. I believe I sent you some reports a while back? I'm not sure if they reached you or not, so if the latter, just say so and I can give you copies." Oh gods...he's a bit of a fan boy. That's not good.
After his initial energetic burst though, his smile turns sly. "And no, I'm not a test subject. I believe my body would reject such an enhancement anyway, sadly. I'm proud to have her a a colleague either way."
-
Re: [Nexus] AMEN XLIII: REVOLUTION!
Main Entrance
Shayan is as unsteady on her feet as a paraplegic that just went through intense phantom nervous trauma could possibly be. If Cin intends to get her upright, he'll have to hold her there.
Still, she makes a passable effort at pleasantries with Magtok, despite his rather unorthodox hiding place and her unfortunate situation.
"I see you two are aware of each other, but allow me to make introductions all the same. Magtok, may I introduce you to my newest colleague, Professor Cin. Cin, this is Lord Magtok, second in command of AMEN and my direct superior. I'm sure you'll be happy to know that Cin has done more to further my research than I could have alone in years. We might be seeing the first positive results as soon as we can find some proper test subjects."
-
Re: [Nexus] AMEN XLIII: REVOLUTION!
Main Entrance
Magtok nods, doing his best to present the most neutral and absolutely unafraid poker face he can. Gods, the worst sorts of people always seem to find their way to each other in the Nexus, don't they? This makes ratting Cin out to Remnant more or less impossible, or at least a little bit more problematic than it would've been a few days prior to this horrible twist of fate.
"No no, I got your reports. They were certainly something, I’ll give you that. Unsettling, but definitely quality work, there."
What kind of quality, Magtok chooses not to go into. There isn’t much that can make a hardened, cynical bastard like Magtok lose his lunch, but Cin’s reports made Magtok lose his lunch, breakfast, dinner, snacks in between, and even the bug-sized tracking device he had no idea he’d inadvertently and unknowingly swallowed when he’d been trying to slip it into Dio’s drink at that auction some time before.
"Anyways, sounds great, you two. Good luck with your science-ing and whatnot. Now, last call for drinks, you two sure you don’t want anything? Because I usually need a tall one after a brush with that ozone-smelling mockery of what should and should not be."
Magtok’s definitely exaggerating here. Dark Lord has always struck him as more of an unpleasant nuisance than any sort of major threat, really. If pretending to be more easily perturbed by the beast can provide him with an excuse to get away from Cin, however, he’s more than willing to take it.

Re: [Nexus] AMEN XLIII: REVOLUTION!
Door => Inside Amen Main Room Thing
Marciano walks inside. He's looking rather angry. He's had a bad day you see. However, Grantaire carries about 6 large bags. Who knows what's inside...Hopefully not bombs or other explos9ive materials then again, Marciano hasn't carried around any explosives since Thessalonki. He will try to walk over to Magtok. Unfortunately, he smells much like corpses and melted flesh...His coat is full of small holes. Not bullet holes, but burn marks. He attempts to poke poor Magtok with a bloody, dirty, and dusty halfling finger. "Oy. Where's Ilpheeli or woteve' 'er name is. TTh' 'ole mine thing was a success. What with Ro' an' all. And there was some 'o' those NO people. They don't seem 'appy a' all. No' a righ' jolly group 'o' boun'y 'unters a' all. Some goblin was there...no' sure woty 'is name was. Anyway, I'll need t' speak with 'er. Where is she? What a rude little halfing...:smalleek:

Re: [Nexus] AMEN XLIII: REVOLUTION!

Cin is about to reply that he wouldn't mind a brandy, but when the newcomer interrupts, he just gives Magtok a slight smile and a bow. "Perhaps some other time." He informs Magtok before giving a polite nod to Shayan, ready to move on.

Re: [Nexus] AMEN XLIII: REVOLUTION!
Main Entrance -> Atlantis
Shayan nods curtly, regaining some of her footing, "Yes, I was unaware that you had a previous engagement, so perhaps we can arrange that drink for another time? My mouth will have to deal with the sour taste of his lingering presence until then." She smiles disingenuously at her own joke, and then turns to Cin.
"Let me show you my facilities then, before the hour grows too late. I'm curious as to what you think of them." She isn't quite ready to lead the way into Atlantis at a rapid pace, but she can manage a slow walk through the halls if she uses all six of her vines to support her, rather than the four. No sense standing around and showing weakness, even after that rather abrupt assault.

Re: [Nexus] AMEN XLIII: REVOLUTION!
Main Room
Not having knocked, one Orrey Lauhter will enter the building, wearing a wife-beater and a torn pair of grey cargo pants. A horrific-looking, glowing melee weapon is strapped to his back.
He looks around intensely, perhaps expecting someone to come up and wait on him. Finding no such greeter, he huffs and proceeds deeper into the base.
-
Re: [Nexus] AMEN XLIII: REVOLUTION!
Front Entrance -> Main Room
Ilpholin returns after various business trips. Admittedly she has more to do later. Still has to go to Riverside and meet with Lavthos after all.
On the Front Lawn Mister Squiggles is just finishing up working outside of AMEN and goes to meet her. He chitters.
"Oh? Gordon left without even saying hello? Well that's disappointing." Guess she'll have to talk to him later then. There's some more chittering. "Hmm... good. Take a break."
Mister Squiggles chitters! A break? Just what did she think he was? Some pack animal? Just how long did she think she was going to...
"Just do it!"
*chitter chitter* :smallannoyed:
Mister Squiggles heads off for the moment as Ilpholin steps inside the base proper.
-
Re: [Nexus] AMEN XLIII: REVOLUTION!
Main Room
After wandering around unfettered, Orrey makes his way back here, approaching the only person who seems to be by herself. The musclebound brute flashes a lecherous grin at Ilpholin, saying, "'Scuse me, sweetcheeks, can you tell me who's in charge around here? Maybe send me their way?" He leans forward, putting one hand on a table and propping himself up. "Maybe tell me when you get off, too?"
-
Re: [Nexus] AMEN XLIII: REVOLUTION!
Main Room
"Oh quite frequently." Ilpholin counters neutrally. "But since becoming the leader of AMEN, I've had to limit myself. There is a lot of work to be done after all. What can I help you with?"
-
Re: [Nexus] AMEN XLIII: REVOLUTION!
Main Room
It takes Orrey a second to catch that, and only a second longer to fully understand that he just hit on his boss-to-be. Well, boss-to-be if he has any luck.
Orrey's not used to clever women, or those in a position of power, because neither would ever come near a man like him. The thug's lips flatten into a line, and his brows rise. He says, "Oh. Right. Arright. I was sorta looking for a job..."
-
Re: [Nexus] AMEN XLIII: REVOLUTION!
Main Room
"And now you're shy. Hah!" The laugh is short and a little shrill.
"Well the pay is a little lousy, but the room and board more than make up for it. My office is this way." She moves to lead the way to her office.
-
Re: [Nexus] AMEN XLIII: REVOLUTION!
Main Room
"I'm not shy," Orrey half-grumbles, half-growls, a little angry about that. He follows grumpily.
Once they reach the office, Lauhter crosses his arms and looks around, examining her quarters. He then examines Ilpholin, appraising rather than ogling, and says, "So seriously. You're in charge? I'da thought it was someone..." He rolls a hand and looks aside as if searching for the word, letting Ilpholin fill in the blanks however she likes.
-
Re: [Nexus] AMEN XLIII: REVOLUTION!
Ilpholin's Office
Ilph's Office is very spartan and mostly there for show as it is. There's a desk and some chairs. Ilpholin sits behind the desk and pulls out a form for Orrey.
"Uglier and highly deranged?"

Atlantis
Cin gives a polite nod and lets Shayan lead the way to her labs, carefully keeping track of the paths in his head. He's somewhat quiet, lost in thought on the way there, but is obviously somewhat excited by all of this. "I'm going to have to get my own here if possible." He tells her after a while. "It certainly seems large enough."
