Indeed, 'tis a tuber tree. Wasn't completely my intention to draw it like that, but I'm sure there is a type of tree somewhere that is like that. (Looking back at it it looks to me almost like a zombie tree that died and now has some small new growths coming out; must be the graveyard setting). Also maybe the fact that I went to bed last night at five this morning; I'm a little addled right now (and very glad I had the day off).
That zombie looks really happy... I think he just got a promotion.

Day 78:
I really like doing the anatomy drawings, though this one is definitely not my best. Time: 45 minutes maybe
Music: Pony

Yeah, they do a good job of associating colour schemes with particular ponies. That or the mane/tail is usually enough to recognize one by (assuming you are familiar with the show of course). And that Twi/Jake thing is a little creepy (now I am trying to imagine what would happen if you merged their personalities).
----
Day 79:
"Short" of time today, 'cause I got cover letters to write. Really I'm just procrastinating though so it took a long time.Time: Longer than it should have.
Music: Pony

It would appear to be a child-proportioned robot contemplating a human skull. It was just an idea that popped into my head, I've been thinking rather mechanically lately.

Day 80:
Breakfast and procrastination combined.
Time: Longer than it should
Music: None
One day I'll learn better shading than "lines or no lines".
S'been a long time since I've been here.
I have been drawing, just not every day. On the one hand it's a load off my mind. On the other hand it's not really doing me any good. I think I need to do a schedule or something. Every other day perhaps.
I did a few avatars for people. You'll probably see them when pirate week rolls around (Sept 16-22). Except Pokonic's which he has been wearing since I made it.
Pokonic:

Should've made the lines much thicker. You can barely see them on the avatar sized-version. I'll know for next time.
Harnel:

The tail should be going through his wings. I fixed it for the final avatar:

I also did sone gift art for a friend but I can't show it here. They haven't seen it yet and it's going to be a surprise!
Some more things I've drawn since last time, for the IRC and myself:
Zebra herbalist OC for... I forgot whom
"I draw a card"
Magical Pony Space Lich Princess WIP
A pony drifting in orbit
Rarity.. uh. Well, yeah. It's random.
Return of the Pony Rangers: Harmonic Unity.
Shadow in a hat.
Another enhatted pony.
And more randomness courtesy of Pinkie Pie
I should probably start doing some more coloring things again.
Good to see people are still alive.
This is why I make sure to draw every day, even if most of the time its complete rubbish or I don't have the spare time to actually do anything proper (which is most days). Even if it isn't doing me much good if I don't have the opportunity to actually learn, its the sitting down and doing it that's important in my mind.
I promised myself that I'd get a magnificent hat one day. Strangely enough, I found that comic through ponies in the first place.
----
Day 81:
I took 41 pictures of this one, with different lighting and exposure setups, and not one managed to come out not blurry, so I gave up.Time: 40 minutes I think
Music: Pony

Day 82:
Nothing much here.Time: ?
Music: None

Day 83:
MosquitoTime: No idea again
Music: Pony
----
Day 84:
A falcon. The charger in the corner is just to give my wonderful phone camera enough contrast to actually focus on the image (my problem from before).Time: 30-35 minutes
Music: None
Now back to the cover letters...:smallsigh:
----
Day 85:
A head, done at an angle I had always figured would be challenging. Didn't turn out so terrible as I thought it might. He was going to have a massive handlebar mustache originally, but I went with a hat insteadTime: 40 min

Day 86:
Pinball Wizard, uncleaned sketch version.Time: 25-30 minutes.
Music: For once, a single song: Lullaby for a Princess

Day 87:
A bit of myth.Time: 15 minutes

I tend to skim read the thread pretty regularly, but I neither have advice to give nor want advice in return, so there's not much for me to contribute.
See, just knock a bit and a few lurkers fall out. I think its just because September is a busy time of year. I know I've spent many an hour this last week writing job applications for the winter co-op term.

Day 88:
A copy of Legend's Paladin class picture, at a slightly different angle. Turned out all right.Time: 40 minutes I think
Music: None
So I'm on tumblr when this comes up on my dashboard:
And suddenly I'm all like "Yeah, why not? Let's do this!"
...
Spoilerhttp://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i9...ps4d1b02fd.jpg
Doesn't look a damn thing like me. Save for my stupid hair. :smallsigh:
What I've learned from this (apart from the fact that I have no clue how to do feet) is that being given a task to do works much better than simply trying to do something without prompting.
So here's the deal. I would like you guys to suggest things that I should draw. Then I will draw them. Then you will suggest more things, I will draw them, and so on. I'm hoping that this kind of thing will spur me on to action, instead of lazing around as I currently am.
Incidently, that first picture now applies to you all. Draw yourselves! Now!

Aye aye!
Spoilerhttp://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i9...ps2c2225e6.jpg
Hmm, eye sockets are a little too big and close together, the jaw bones could stand to be higher, and once again I think I've drawn it too narrow.
Otherwise, quite happy with it.
More drawing suggestions welcome!
I like how the canon one is a Gollum-ish pose. Is it comfortable to draw like that? :smalltongue:Quote:
Traced two photos of myself for warm up. My attempt (I am only wearing shorts):
Wah! Sugoi kawaii desu~!Quote:
The skull from my last doodle, in full resolution and as kawaii tsundere~:
(That means good)
Why would you ever draw in that position? It does look very uncomfortable.
Also, weird Japanese terms I don't understand. Google to the rescue!
----
Day 89:
Did an avatar for the avatar thread. Was lazy though, so I didn't sharpen my corners and only quickly did the shield and sword. Luckily all that should disappear when it shrinks down. (Also got some weird white outline when I changed it into a png).Time: Two hours
Music: None
A few tutorials and references I found. Might be useful for someone.
Ponies
Human heads
Human Ears
Expressions and emotions
Day 90:
A guy, on a cliff.Time: 20 minutes
Music: Pony

Flatness is something I have always had trouble with, so yeah, I agree.
Those painted versions of Elan and Haley are weird. The characters just don't look right without their round cartoony heads to me.
----
Day 91:
What makes you think I can even draw a horse? I can barely do the marshmellow ones.Time: ~30 minutes.
Music: Pony
Actually didn't turn out soo bad. Looks vaguely more evil than most horses though. And the fact that once again the image quality sucks.
Thanks. I think I'll try some skulls tomorrow, working on the basic shapes, as you say.
Not making it easy, eh? Good. I think I need to be pushed out of my comfort zone.Quote:
Hmmm... We should all participate in this I think. For now I suggest... hm... draw a galloping horse!*
Spoiler
Today I have learned:
Horses are very buff in the chest.
Horses have skinny legs.
I have difficulty drawing those legs. I think I got the positions about right in the end, but getting the shape and general thickness is very tough.
Not a bad first try, though I think I'll give this another go soon. Perhaps tomorrow, after the skulls.
Loving these! Especially the Gilda and the OotS doodles. Oh, and I didn't say it before, but I liked your Adventure Time stuff. I've been watching that show a lot lately.Quote:

I think you have improved! In fact, I think we've all improved since being here. :smallsmile:Quote:
I think I've improved a bit since I started posting in this thread over four months ago (back when there was lots of activity!), and I could attribute that partly to it, so yeah!
Better than mine! Good job!
I seem to be doing too much simple picdump and not enough in-depth analysis or training. Well, at least I'm actually drawing again.
Finished and colored enhatted 18 Carrot
Random doodle of a charging hammerdwarf.
Filly Twilight Sparkle cookiediving (IRC shenanigans)
Some attempts at drawing Pink Ranger's Harmonic Vivacity mech.
Seapony. Wearing fishnets. Blame IRC.
ShadowOfTheSun as a robot pirate pony.
Bob Vorpal as a robot pony.
And, Ponithid('s timeline clone) eating Kindablue's new face.
Hmm took a look at that site finally and saw they had regular drawing tutorials as well. I'll maybe take a look at those when I have time.

Day 92:
Drew another horse, with a rider this time. Threw away my usual detail-oriented mindset for the most part, and drew this one quickly and without much editing.Time: 25 minute maybe
Music: None
Moar Skullz!
Spoilerhttp://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i9...voc/skull2.jpg
Meh. They're okay. More focused on the general shape this time, but could still use some work.
Didn't leave myself much time to do another try at a horse. Spent most of the day playing Pokemon Conquest.
Watched a few of those videos on Ctrl+Paint. Very interesting stuff. I'll have to try another full colour drawing soon so I can test stuff out.
The proportions are still a bit off, mainly on the front facing one, the unevenness of the singe lines is distracting to me. I think that correcting the asymmetries (esp. in the cranium, jaw, teeth and eye sockets) would do a lot to improve the general look. The side one looks a lot better, though you didn't follow your outline very well for the front of the teeth/chin, thus giving it a large underbite.
----
Day 93:
Of course, I'm one to talk, with my own head that has the proportions messed up. Behold.Time: 30 minutes?
Music: Pony.
Tricornes are strange to draw at first...
EDIT: hmm, it says Tiki Snakes posted, and yet there is nothing there. Deleted post?
