It's ninja time?
Loving Raoul's new look! Sword + warpaint ftw. Looks kinda... Tauren in the WoW sense.
I like the new chapter title, and I approve of Satomi's outfit, but that mainly stems from an approval of kunoichi in general.
Awesome whitebox weapon!
New Page
Due to either a bug or my own incompetence, the upload at Gaijinmanga screwed up.
So here's the newest page!
It took me a while to finish the drafts for this chapter, but now that they're done I can draw out the pages quickly.
Also, I didn't notice the Akali comparison. Doh. Too much League of Legends for me.
Did he lift up Ben in the last panel? It's kinda hard to tell...
Imaginary Codex sounds awesome.
And another page up!
Looks like the thing at Gaijinmanga's been fixed, by the way.
Lopez acquired some characterization! I think I like him. He shows selflessness and humility.
'His grandson', eh? Intriguing.
I... wasn't expecting to like Lopez. I do. Huh.
Spell 30: Explosive Lemons. Unless I've said that already.
Cave Johnson, we're done here.
Eric Lopez was originally described as the heir apparent to the local chapter, if I recall correctly. It would make sense that the current head would be a relative - and grandfather certainly makes sense. The meaning behind a lot of the guy's actions have changed now, however: rather than being a brute who just likes to flaunt his power when he gets a chance, looking back they now seem pretty obviously protective. Particularly with Eve - if her connection with Ben is anything more there than just an affectionate and somewhat flirtatious werewolf and a friend she both cares for and feels guilty over, it would be obvious to another werewolf before it occurred to anyone else. Even without any personal relationship to her, this "papa wolf' interpretation of Eric would naturally want to explore this and learn about the newcomer. Ben's performance and behavior right here and now will likely have a strong impact on how the Lunar Codex views him: champion, threat, or Eve's pet.
I also like Eric's justification here: I don't have to damage him, I just have to take the hits that I can shrug off but you can't (assuming the vaunted constitution of the pages is not something they share with librarians in general). He's signing up to serve as a tank!
I'm not saying he's going to play the role like Sentinel Adams. But the whole point of the arena is that Pages have far too high constitution - drugs and alcohol have no meaning, injury and disease are all but impossible from normal sources. They like to fight because they're so tough that it's the only time they really push their limits.
Eric is not a stone wall style tank, but pages seem to have a great deal more durability than appears common for librarians - and the Lunatic is ridiculously powerful even by Page standards. His purpose in the fight is not to do damage, but to keep the enemy distracted and take the blows. That's the role of a tank, armor is just the most common method of surviving those blows.
Thanks for the encouragement, Mr. Saturn. I'm glad you like it!
I don't know much about Exalted, other than that it's a tabletop RPG. The only things I know about DnD are from Neverwinter Nights, and that's the only reason I can read OotS somewhat adequately. I did read a little bit of Keychain of Creation, but it lost me in the first three comics with stuff I didn't understand. :smallfrown:
Really enjoying reading your analysis too, Calemyr. I really love it when people try to read a little deeper into my comics.
New page up!
Nice, I like it.
I am your boyfriend, I am not your boyfriend, I am a little glowing friend, but really I'm not actually boyfriend, but I am!
Why does ben know about eve sleeping. I think the term is WTF??? Also I have a name for the new ink you should call it sepia.
