Tucked away in a corner table, an Ice Elf named Moon Called finally regains her composure. She sits up, although Sevran doesn't seem to be particularly excited to let her go.
<"Xun. I'm sorry."> Moon Called says, rubbing her eyes on her sleeve. <"I'm turning into an emotional old woman.">
<"Don't be so hard on yourself, Keska,"> Sevran chides gently. He sits awkwardly next to his general, not sure what to do with his hands. After a few moments he settles on fiddling with a napkin container. <"It's been hard on all of us. Keval won't say it, but it's killing her too.">
Moon Called frowns, nodding softly. Of course Keval wouldn't show it, but she'd be beating herself up over it. She'd been the only one with Mallod when she died. <"She shouldn't be. It was my fault. I shouldn't have sent them out like that. It was a suicide mission.">
<"You didn't know that.">
<"Yes I did. I didn't know anything about the situation. I sent our weakest fighter beyond rescue and she died and one of our best nearly got captured and executed.">
<"No. You sent two of your most flexible warriors to scout out an important mission. Keska, it's not your fault.">
Moon Called sighs. <"Sevran, I know you're trying to help me, but... I made a mistake and people died.">
<"It's war, Keska. Mistakes happen. People die. I know it's tragic, but it was a mistake. We're fighters, Keska. Death is part of the job.">
<"I don't want the job anymore, then.">
Sevran blinks, taken aback. <"What?">
<"I'm so tired of losing people."> Moon Called curls her hands into fists, looking down at them. <"I'm getting old, Sevran. I want some stability in my life. I want friends I can count on to be with me at the end of the day. There's so much death in my life and I don't know if I can keep up with it.">
<"Keska..."> Sevran frowns, reaching down to gather Moon's hands in his own. <"I promise I'll be there.">
<"You can't know that,"> Moon Called protests. She tries to pull her hands away, but Sevran gently keeps his hold.
<"Yes, Keska, I do. And I'm promising you now. I'll be there at the end of the day. Every day.">
Moon Called lifts her head, looking up at Sevran. For a few moments they simply look at each other, before the younger male throws caution to the wind, leans in and kisses her.
Percival manages to ignore the MHF, for now, or perhaps remain ignorant of it. He shakes his head, suddenly quite foggy on the whole subject. "Yes, I know what it means. It sounded like you meant they might be better off dead."
Sharon's eyes widened, and she shook her head quickly.
"Oh! Oh, no no not at all, I mean that perhaps maybe you didn't get along with them or something and wouldn't want s-somebody to be saying that they were sorry for your loss," she explains nervously.
The Cowboy's Table
"Oh. Well that makes this the start of an adventure then!" Which both terrifies and excites Isla. Probably terrifies her more though. "Maybe fate took you here because you had all these regrets and needed to get away from them?"
Which is, she believes, why she ended up here too. Her luck wouldn't let her be unhappy forever. So one of the only questions is why it took her here so early. She'd still had three months of relative freedom left.
A rather large horse-like creature slinks into the tavern, through one of the windows, trying not to be spotted by Continuity for being in two places at once. He places some monies on the bar and orders a bowl of rootbeer. Then he looks around and waves hi to any familiar faces or to any face that looks friendly.
The Cowboy's Table
"I've been killed. Does that count?" Gertrude is still here, after all. She's drinking the pineapple juice sparingly, and feeding the raw fish to her pike-hand, which seems to enjoy it.
Sharon spots the Llama. Grins, her nervousness suddenly gone. And waves!
The llama waves back and trots over to Sharon, gripping his bowl of root beer in his muzzle.
Huw's if goonig? He sets the bowl down on a table.* How's it going? Any interesting plots going on?
"Oh, it's been alright. I haven't seen you in such a long time!" Sharon grins and goes to hug the fuzzy llama! Who might remember her as Erin from Enupnion.
*gives Sharon a wooly embrace* I've been good. I'm mostly retired from the active RPing scene and just relaxing these days.
Your scent is definitely familiar, so is the face, but..ummm...the name is kinda fuzzy. Its...Eris, right? *He looks embarrassed.*
"Erin. But I go by Sharon now," Sharon says with a soft giggle, holding tightly to the staff that once belonged to Maia. "And I know about the retired thing. It's good to see you again though!"
Thanks! You too. *He studies the staff, looking for any runes or signs of magicalness* So any intersting plots going on these days? I thought I heard someone talking about being brainwashed over there. He gestures to the table with the machine.
And there is a Mysterious Hooded Guy staring at me, but I'm used to people staring at me, so its okay.
It's a wooden staff with a crescent of silvery metal at the top. As far as I know beyond that it's just a staff, but it's been a looooooooong time since Amber described it. :smallfrown: "I don't know really. There was a Stars Are Right incidence not too long ago, but aside from the creep in the hood I'm not too up on plots these days."
That sounds kinda creepy. Tentacley too! Probably glad I missed it.
What do you do when a Mysterious Hooded Guy keeps staring at you? I know its probably quest related, but I can't really do a quest right now. Should I buy him a drink? what's the polite thing to do here?
Mysterious Hooded Figure staaaaaares at Llama and Sharon. Like MHF knows they're talking about MHF. Llama in particular, probably because it's a talking llama. But it's really hard to tell, the way the shadows just seem to wrap around MHF.
"Um, I'd just run away if he stared for too long," Sharon admits with a shudder.
Wishing her one-time familar who's gone AWOL from the job, Tom the Junco, were here. Tom could peeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeer with the best of them!
That does sound like a convenient excuse to leave the scene in a few minutes when my player goes to bed. I'll just leave through that huge hole in the 4th wall, I suppose. If he's still here when I get back, I'll paint pupils on my eyelids and then have a "staring" contest. I'm sure to win.
*He grins and wags, enjoying the silliness of the evening*
Ivaz walks into the tavern, her usual air of confidence about her. She wears her standard outfit of knee-high leather boots, fishnet stockings, plaid cloth that barely passes for a skirt, and a dress shirt with only one button done. Although, the shirt is missing its left sleeve. Looks like it was cut off. And her right boot has long claw marks in it.
Ivaz will stroll to a table and take a seat, leaning back as she swings her feet onto the table.
Sharon giggles at the llama's suggestion. "That sounds like a most cunning plan!"
===
Amist enters beind Ivaz, the tall, voluptrous half-drowess having managed to repair her outfit somewhat. She looks around the tavern, then smirks and follows Ivaz to a table, her own high-heeled thigh-high boots clicking as she walks.
Ivaz chooses to stretch out her arms over her head before placing them behind her head.
Alright. I picked the drinks last time. Your turn. She smirks at Amist.
Time for the first part of the cunning plan. AAaaAAAAHHHHHH SOME ONE IS STARING AT ME! *He hollers as he dashes out the door, stopping at the entrance and giving a wave to the two new-comers, then he flees into the night.
(Goodnight all you happy forum-posters!)
Amist allows Ivaz an appreciative look, nods to the departing Llama, then studies the menu with a smirk.
"I think the Black Shadow has a very...pleasant effect."
===
Sharon waves to the Llama then turns back to her conversation in progress!
Ivaz gives a slightly confused look to the llama. That was...unexpected...
She looks back to Amist and nods with a smirk. Black Shadow it is, then.
And Amist orders two from a somewhat blushing Paige, chuckling as the elf hurries off to collect the order.
Ivaz chuckles as well.
So, who do you think that magician guy was? Somebody new, maybe?
"I'd presume. I'm not familar with around here obviously but he seemed to be new on the job." Amist scowls. "If too clever by half for his own good."
And Paige returns with the drinks.
Ivaz takes her drink with a smile. Thanks, beautiful. She winks at Paige.
She takes a long sip, then sets the drink down and puts her hands behind her head again.
Yeah, he seemed to be giving you a run for your money.
Paige blushes and hurries off in, well, a hurry!
Amist rolls her eyes.
"I underestimated him. Not a mistake I intend to make again."
