Re: Darths And Droids 2: Should've Gone to Naboo
Not to mention, if Jim "deeply roleplays" Han anywhere close to canon, it means he's "deeply roleplaying" pretty much the same character he was as a beer 'n pretzels gamer anyway, only possibly even more money-grubbingly mercenary at the beginning.

I'm fairly sure there's not going to be a question of who fired first. :smalltongue:

Someone who is into roleplaying and thinks he's awesome at it. From my experience, those words promise trouble.

Re: Darths And Droids 2: Should've Gone to Naboo
I'm really not sure how the Han/Greedo thing will turn out... If Jim went through the trouble of making an enemy for his character with a character sheet and all who he plans to a have a little 'argument' with which then ends with him getting shot so he has to play his enemy... that's like the one way I can see the 'Jim is Greedo' thing happening. Apart from 'Wow, that guy is so cool, he easily killed my character. DM, hand over that character sheet!'

Windows? Is this a scuzzy dive or a Chili's franchise?

Why would having a window disqualify a scuzzy dive from being one?

Dammit, I've STILL never seen ANY Firefly. I should fix that this summer...

I only saw it for the first time this year. Definitely recommend it.

Go. Watch it. Now. Or as soon as possible. You will be grateful.
But skip the movie.

It helps that there's only half a season's worth of it.

Unless you go into a towering rage at whoever introduced it to you for giving you something so great that ends so suddenly.

Then they throw a copy of Serenity at him to buy them a 2hr head start to run.

Ok, posh Chewbacca is something I did not see coming. It will be glorious.

Especially since jim specifically stated that chewy has maxxed out all of HIS characters dump stats. Im thinking a stupid thug barely able to breathe while walking because its too complicated. Possibly its a scenario where jims character is the tag along while chewy does all the work, but han takes the credit.

Re: Darths And Droids 2: Should've Gone to Naboo
Ok, suddenly, somehow, I am imagining posh Chewy as Beast from X-Men. Complete with Kelsey Grammer voice. For some reason.

Yes! We're going to do some of his other screenplays. We plan to make a trilogy by scripting Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and then You Only Live Twice as sequels to Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.
Why aren't you doing the screenplays in chronological order?
Can you imagine Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory as a sequel to You Only Live Twice? See, that would be too easy. We wanted the challenge.
Sure, the screenplay for the movie adaptations were by Roald Dahl, but the stories were from Ian Fleming... And You Only Live Twice is a James Bond story.

Um, so "Billy West is known (barely) for doing voiceovers for poorly selling computer games, but gains widespread fame after his appearance in the first Futurama movie." and the suicide booths weren't enough to tip you off to that?

This part still baffles me. I would have at least thought they would change it to Simpsons' movie or something.

Re: Darths And Droids 2: Should've Gone to Naboo
I was pretty confused when I entered the thread... then I realized we were up to #751... Then my footnote kept changing on the side and I was confused again  Buuuut everything is fine now.
Well, the bit in the actualy comic was clear enough, I guess though I wonder why the DM let them off the hook so easily... Or will there be consequences?
As for the special comic... it of course raises the one question... who is the better Wonka? Wilder or Depp? *runs*
-
Re: Darths And Droids 2: Should've Gone to Naboo
The DM is clearly having a lot of fun with his NPCs.
"Nah, just kidding. It's gone forever." That was way more amusing than it had any right to be.

Wilder get my vote by far.
-
Re: Darths And Droids 2: Should've Gone to Naboo
Wilder's Wonka had personal charm and charisma. He was eccentic, and a little bit loony. Depp's Wonka was a deranged nutcase with vague pedophilic overtones.
So it depends on your opinion of Willy Wonka as a character...is he a benevolent kook who just likes candy and living in a small child's fantasy dream of unlimited candy? Or is he disturbed and insane, not someone children should be allowed anywhere near?
I liked Depp's Wonka better because his movie was much truer to the book, if you ignored the pointless subplot about Wonka's dentist father.

I reject your overtones! He was a deranged nutcase with father issues, but he was a nice guy really.
And while the subplot was silly, it gave us Christopher Lee as a dentist. More terrifying than saruman by far.
-
Re: Darths And Droids 2: Should've Gone to Naboo
I didn't get any seriously creepy overtones from Depp's Wonka either, just regular entertaining creepy. But I do think the whole daddy issues thing was a waste of time and definitely dump the whole thing in the "certain characters are best left unexplained and mysterious" box. That movie was very much a mixed bag for me.
I haven't actually seen the old one. Should probably fix that.
