Don't even get me started on everything wrong with Firefox...
It's not because it's seen as an easy target, it's because prior to IE8 (and possibly including IE8) it really was craptacular, and public opinion hasn't caught up.

It actually wasn't. The main image issue comes from people using the default install of IE6, without any updates, despite there being much later versions available, simply because it comes installed with their OS. It was fine in its time, but it continued being used long after its prime for that reason.
Also, as much as it pains me to say, if it wasn't for IE1, we'd probably still be paying for browsers (Netscape was the main browser at the time, and you had to pay for it).

Re: Amidus Drexel's Alliterative and Awe-Accentuating Anvil of Random Banter CLXXXVI
I diidn't think IE6 and 7 were ever standards compliant.

NO browser is standards compliant.

No study in the world will change the fact that the only time any computer in our house has gotten a virus, it was the one computer that consistently used IE. (It was fairly old, and no longer worked with up-to-date versions of Firefox). Also, while none may be inherently more secure than the others, it's certainly easier to install add-ons that increase security on Chrome and Firefox.
The potential invasion of privacy from Chrome would only bother me if I did anything worth hiding. The only things I regularly use the internet for are this, Facebook, fantasy football, youtube, and webcomics. And I honestly don't care if anyone can know that.
Also relevant: this.

Confirmation bias. Granted, the phenomenon has its usefulness, just not for evaluating things objectively.
Agreed. I don't care if Google knows what I browse on the internet. (I use Firefox, so it doesn't matter :smalltongue:)
While interesting, the statistical analysis in that study only took information from 119 users, only 25 of which were Chrome users (there were 42 IE and 40 Firefox users). Saying that 25 people (who happen to also be chrome users) that frequently do number puzzles on one site have a slightly better average (in the time it takes them to complete puzzles) than two other groups of a much larger (almost double) size (that happen to more frequently use IE or Firefox) is almost meaningless. The only thing that it shows is that they could find a small correlation in a statistically insignificant sample size.

Chrome is worse.
I have so many issues with Chrome. If I weren't so thoroughly adjusted to the UI, I'd probably ditch it to go back to Firefox.

Ditch that horrible thing and get Iron.
What is Iron?

A browser by SRWare. It's like Chrome, but without the things some people disliked about Chrome.

In other news... Is it bad that a song I love is my ringtone, and that whenever I play it, even though I am completely aware I am playing it, I still think my phone is going off? :smalltongue:

No, Irony is mainstream now. I use it POST-IRONICALLY.
Adding post- to things is also hipster.

I feel like I should say that I'm post-hipster, but I've been using that term since 7th grade.

I'm actually not fond of hipsters, atleast in the ways I've heard the term being used. Seem's incredibly annoying.

AP Literature and Composition midterm in the morning and Pre-Calc midterm is in the afternoon. Ugggh. The good thing about being a senior is that as long as I have above an 85 in the class, I don't have to take the final at the end of the year. I should really apply to Colleges, doing well on the SAT doesn't meant squat if I don't get my stuff mailed. Merp.

Ayep. My friend was basically a shoo-in at MIT but he didn't mail his damned application on time and as a result he's had all sorts of misadventures, and not the fun kind either, most of which at least partially resulted from the fact that where he ended up was nowhere near as interesting as MIT would have been to him.
Also caused a huge rift between my friend and my father to this day because of all of the brouhaha to ensure that he got his ducks in a row.
Kind of a bit late in the year to be just starting now though. :smallconfused:

APPLY. Seriously. I mean, they let me in; you should be able to go just about anywhere, no problem (and you seem to be the studious type; AP Lit class and such).

I may need some ice for that. :smallamused:
There is a certain threshold of annoying where it begins to seriously bother me, and then I agree with you.

N'aww, due date's January 15th. I've got my teacher recommendations and the Common App filled out. I just need to write the conclusion to my essay, finish up my supplements, and get my most recent SAT scores back. (Should be tomorrow.)

Pffft. I just look studious. AP Classes, 3.5+ GPA, National Honors Society, it's all a sham I tell you! A SHAM!!

Well that's good to hear. Everyone was nattering on about how early was going to be the new standard for admissions and that my generation was the last to even have a chance with regular applications except to places where one really doesn't even need to bother to fill out an application.
Was enough to make one rather depressed about the state of American Higher Education.
I suppose my over-achieving cousin's facebook statuses probably skewed my perspective as well.

A cunning ruse to lull prey into a false sense of security. Then SNAP! The globe reveals itself to be a complicated web trap!

What, you mean tautology club? :smallamused:
I mean the AP classes, mostly. It's easy to get As in the regular-level and honors-level classes.
