In fact, one can infer that he doesn't actually care about history: There are inconsistencies and contradictions in the world he creates which are in fact how th eprotagonists realize there's a problem in the first place.
You re-wrote what I said using more words, Rater. He wants to write history, he's just not a great writer. He left some plot holes in.

That's usually called "war" and it's not ideal.

If there's one thing Megamind taught me it's that supervillainy is all about presentation.

He wants to rewrite ALL THE TIME. But yes, history included.

People, I mentioned deterrents for a reason.
Once my moon base is complete I will be able to use the Kilomax Vapo-Beam mounted upon it as the ultimate deterrent: All nations will submit to my will or be destroyed.
Thus, I will have won history.

You'd think that, but your security is lax and I'm fairly certain your design won't stand up to the proton lances I recently installed on Demios!
Now I just need to train some knights to wield the blasted things...

Imean, having a moon base without being a government already presupposes winning history.

S my mom got voluntoled to watch my cousin's kid a while back and didn't say no even though she was in her rights to so we're saddled watching him three days out of the week.
He likes bananas, so we've had bananas in the house more.
Mom found a kit for making homemade chocolate-covered bananas and figured he might like that.
... Apparently, he doesn't like bananas frozen, however, as he ate the chocolate off of one, put it back in the freezer, and then we had to hide the rest because he tried to take them and eat the chocolate off of them, too.
(They were saved before they could do this.)
Thing is? The chocolate for the dip is bitter chocolate. Barely any sugar in it.

Taught as history. Unless Current Events could also be called Twenty/Thirty-Year-Old Events.

Having recently watched The Martian I'd like to request that, in the unlikely event I somehow die on Mars, my body not be returned home. Especially if I'm the first to die on Mars. Don't cremate me either. Bury me if you must, but leave my body there. Maybe prop me up in a sufficiently dignified pose. Let future humans and/or aliens be weirded out by my remains.

Propped up on a throne, looking bored as the skeletons of supplicants are arrayed around in poses suggestive of discontent? Got it!

Homeless and jobless in the slums, they're essentially a gang committing crimes and dealing with other factions to get buy.
Plot would be very episodic. One 'adventure' is breaking into an Alchemex lab to seal a sample of an experimental cure to trade to the Thorites in exchange for some spare parts that the local back alley cyberdoc will accept as payment in exchange for running maintenance on the gang's cybers for the next few months, while the next is about getting rid of the crooked cop who took an unhealthy interest in one of you without getting caught.
I have the mental image that the PCs have been together for about a year and have managed to, with some effort, build a rudimentary home in the ruins of the Old New York subway system. Blocked off the tunnel, a couple of old cars cannibalized to make rooms, etcetera. It ain't comfortable but it's warm, dry, and reasonably safe.
...But also that each PC is keeping a secret from the others. About their history, the nature of their powers, etetera.
*Number is arbitrary as I don't actually keep track.
So I ended up making an Interest check thread for this.

Realistically speaking there probably aren't that many waterfowl around and what are present are almost certainly mutated all to hell by the toxic environment outside the megacities, but yeah that's acceptable. Probably gonna have to be a mutant, since um... There are not many reasons why someone would make that power on purpose but all sorts of mutants have very oddly specific powers.

Is the high concept "Aquaman but actually as useless as people joke he is"? :smalltongue:
Anyhow, since I'm already theoretically semi-committed, I'll take a look at the thread and see if my interest remains checked.

Hey, Aquaman is OUTRAGEOUSLY useful!
More that I find ducks inherently funny, as well as the idea. That a superhero could be defeated by a loaf of bread. More likely I'll rework the character into a less silly concept (like a were at) but make them like ducks.

I know, but he's like a reverse Chuck Norris, memetically speaking (that is, very powerful but with many jokes claiming the opposite).
Anyway Rater, I think you might find more interest in the Finding Players forum, that Free Form Roleplaying forum doesn't seem super active.

Like all the people who died on Mount Everest? That would be pretty creepy.

I've heard tell that official directions for safe/efficient ways to get to the summit have specific corpses as landmarks.
It's too cold for the bodies to decay on an appreciable time scale that far up, and it's not worth the risk to send people up just to retrieve bodies, so if you die up there you're just there forever. No grave, no marker, just a frozen corpse half-buried in the snow.
Which is why iffin I ever go insane and decide to go up there I'm wearing the most flamboyant ass coat I can imagine and having my full name my date of birth, and an estimation of the time period I'd be on the mountain for up there stitched on it in bold letters. If Idie up there, I'll be my own headstone god damn it, and be distinctive enough to be a landmark.

The bodies are landmarks, yes, but to get up Everest, you just need to follow the people in front of you.

Re: Domino Quartz's Delightfully Quaint Random Banter Thread #248
Despite insistence that we'd have to completely resod it this summer, the grass is now regrowing on the huge scar that got dug in a third of our lawn when my stepfather spontaneously decided todo some work on our septic since he had the backhoe already.
It's coming in in patches, but it honestly looks healthier and more vibrant than the rest of the lawn around it.
-
Re: Domino Quartz's Delightfully Quaint Random Banter Thread #248
Hmm, interesting! Perhaps because the soil got churned up in that area and the grass liked that?

I think they move the bodies a lot, so I dunno how long you would be your own headstone. It’d probably be cheaper and more reliable to do it the traditional way. Or you can make a creepy effigy of yourself and have your bones stuffed in it like Jeremy Bentham. :smalltongue:

I remember reading that this line is one of the reasons so many people die on the mountain. You run low on oxygen waiting for your turn, which affects your judgement, and then you do something foolish like take off your oxygen tank. And it’s hard to maneuver when it’s so crowded. Nightmare mountain for sure.
