I'm sorry, but this is really an absurd ruling. The fact that this feat uses diameter instead of radius unlike everything else in PF is a huge issue (as how area targeting works is built on an assumption that areas are radius based). The main issue being how the hell do you determine the shape of a 15 ft. diameter area? The feat being changed to use radius instead of diameter wouldn't even make it OP, as there are 3 blast shape talents with an AoE that cost no additional spell point in the Destruction Apocrypha book.

Re: Spheres of Power Ask Me Anything #2
Q375
I do have a question about the Penetrating Blast advanced talent for Destruction.
Penetrating Blast
Prerequisites: Destruction sphere, caster level 5th or higher.
Your destructive blast ignores energy resistance equal to your caster level. You may spend a spell point to increase this effect to twice your caster level. Treat Immunity as if it were Resistance 40 for this purpose.
As written, this seems to be an All or Nothing effect since it lacks the usual "Ignores an amount of" clause. However this seems to be against the use since you would almost never get any benefit out of it except against creatures.
I offer a Protection Talent to compare to.
Energy Resistance
You may create a ward that suppresses one energy type of your choice (fire, cold, electricity, sonic, or acid). Any damage of that energy type dealt within this area is reduced by 10 + your caster level. You may also create an aegis that grants energy resistance 10 + your caster level to either fire, cold, electricity, sonic, or acid. These effects only absorb damage and may not protect from other side effects of an attack.
from scaling, the Aegis would win that clash every time until they both hit level 11 where the Aegis gifts 21 Energy Resist, but the Destruction could pierce 22 Energy Resist with a spell point.
That means that each time a destruction user would want to inflict significant damage they would have to spend a spell point, which quickly becomes a drain on even a Sphere Sorcerer.
Except by that point you could gain Energy Immunity with Alteration (Energy Manipulation advanced talent), starting from level 10.
Caster vs caster, the offense really seems to suffer in an All or Nothing scenario. Is this the intended effect with it an all or nothing, or was it meant to reduce energy resistance?

I am not the author of the Destroyer's Handbook, but I am fairly certain that it is meant to treat the target as if it's energy resistance was reduced by the stated amount.

That is the intent.

Re: Spheres of Power Ask Me Anything #2
I have read absolutely nothing about the Spheres of Power, as every thread I've seen about it is over 30+ pages and it is a large read.
My questions:
Q #376-378 What are the Spheres of Power? What are the advantages to it? The disadvantages?

Spheres of Power is a magic system that is set up like a feat tree. The different classes gain access to magic talents that can be used to purchase different abilities from the various spheres.
The spheres are different themes like Conjuration, Destruction, or Weather and having access to a sphere gives you the sphere's base ability. For example Destruction gives you a standard action ranged touch attack that deals damage based on your caster level.
There are other talents within the spheres that alter or grant new ways to use the base ability. To continue the example: Searing blast changes the base Destruction ability to deal fire damage and Explosive orb changes the shape of the blast to resemble a standard fireball.
The pros include: customization (you can make the character concept you want very easily), ease of use (this might be just my opinion, but it works more like most video games where you have an MP bar), and dippability (you can add as much SoP or as little as you want to a game). Also, SoP has a lot of handbooks that expand on the different spheres.
The cons: The magic effects tend to be less game changing at higher levels. This might be a pro depending on what you want out of a magic system though. There are also Advanced Talents that let the DM know that they change the expectations of the game. Like the ability to speak with the dead being an issue in murder mysteries.
Overall, I'd say definitely take a look. It's a lot easier to explain to new players compared to the current vancian system and not too hard to pick up.

Re: Spheres of Power Ask Me Anything #2
Transmuter Hedgewitch Questions:
The transmutation power to convert materials into another is permanent- and as you gain levels, so too is the ability to create permanent living animals.
Assume that we are a 5th level Transmuter Hedgewitch, allowing us to convert any Large or smaller object into a Small or smaller animal with 1hd.
Q#379: Does the size of the object have to be the same size as the animal, or may we convert a Large boulder of stone into a Diminuitive Thrush? Or does it convert the boulder into (Large->2xMed->4xSmall->8xTiny->16xDim) 16 diminuitive birds?
Q#380: If we use the Creation sphere to Create a Diminuitive stone, spending a spellpoint as appropriate, that stone would last 5 minutes (or hours with the appropriate talent.) If we transmuted this stone into a bird before that duration was up, would it still expire after the duration? Or is the limited magic keeping the stone there now gone? (The transformation is permanent, after all).
Q#381: At 9th level, we become capable of converting animals into other animals permanently. This works just like the shapeshift ability from Alteration, save that we use our Creation CL in it's place. However, the wording specifically states "... instead are affected by the shapeshift Alteration ability except that they gain traits based on your Creation caster level as if you possessed Extra Traits and must choose traits from...".
What is "Extra Traits"? Did it mean the Greater Transformation Talent, that adds one extra trait?
Other Creation handbook questions.
Q#382: When dropping objects by utilizing Divided Creation, we are capable of making 4 distinct attack rolls per square as per the rules for multiple falling objects. How does this function with the Precision Bombardment feat? The feat allows us to treat "the attack" as a weapon attack roll, and additionally we can treat it as an attack action. If we drop multiple objects (Since we are CL 5, that means we are capable of making 10 tiny objects, thus 10 attacks), do we consider EACH dropped object an attack action? Can we apply Deadly Aim/Vital Strike individually to each dropped dagger?
Q#382a: Precision Bombardment allows us to consider dropping an object as an attack action, as above. Does this mean a CL 5 caster is making 10 attack actions when utilizing this? Does this attack action function with Barrage Sphere (If so, how)? As it's specifically an Attack Action and NOT a Special attack action, this would allow us to utilize special attack actions, as per SoM's ruling on Special attack actions ("A special attack action represents a unique method of making an attack. These special attack actions are granted by certain spheres and talents, and whenever a creature makes an attack action, they may choose to perform a special attack action they know, assuming...")
Q#383: The damage dealt by dropping objects is unspecified and thus untyped, is this intended? If not, what damage type should I be dealing if I drop a boulder on someone? Or knives? Or a knife made of ice? Or a flaming arrow? (Assuming each of these are possible, given the caster has the appropriate Expanded Materials talents- and Divided Creation. Divided Creation doesn't state they need to be the same material type, though that could be erroneous?)
Q#384: The Master of Creation specialization grants boons to the act of creation. It has a limiter: "An incanter cannot possess both Master of Creation and Sphere Focus (Creation)."
Why is this? Sphere Focus (Creation) Increases the DC of sphere effects by 2, alternatively it might refer to the class feature Sphere Focus of Sphere Sorcerers? Which... still doesn't make too much sense. Was this supposed to refer to Sphere Specialization (Creation)?
A Destruction Sphere question.
Q#385: Energy Blade allows you to use a standard action to "make a single weapon attack in conjuction with making a destructive blast.... any creature damaged by the attack is also struck by the destructive blast"
If i were to make a Disarm or Trip maneuver in place of that attack and succeeded in doing so, would the Destructive Blast still strike them, even if the disarm/trip doesn't deal damage? What if I have an additional ability (such as Duelist Sphere's base Bleed ability) that causes my disarm to deal damage?
Edited because I can't count, apparently.

If they did the game may be going somewhere. Honestly looking at their playtest ideas its like they replaced 1 bundle of useless with another bundle of useless.

Re: Spheres of Power Ask Me Anything #2
Quick question: Is the idea that the wandslinger can't create any kind of wand except the basic destruction sphere kind? Seems kinda crappy.

Quick answer: The author admitted that the archetype has problems, wanted to fix it, but never got around. I don't know what the intended direction was though.

There is a Patreon for SOP Handbooks as of now. Currently everybody there voted to just focus on Pathfinder 1 and maybe switch later once the system is established and if it even proves itself wortwhile.
-
Re: Spheres of Power Ask Me Anything #2
Since the system won't be released until August 2019 (tentatively), there is quite a lot of time before Spheres 2.0 would even be a possibility.

One repost since it got lost in the fray. Else I’ll just try to ignore the mechanic.

where was this voted on? I am on the patreon and there is 3 or 4 replies with only one stating what you said here. Am I missing something?
Personally I want them to start thinking about how the new action system will work with both sphere products. as more information comes out I hope they take it into consideration when making future content.

I do not believe there is a global mechanic. I would generally suggest allowing standard action dismissal though.

Meh. From the looks of it Paizo is catching up to the Wagon I have been sitting on for over a year.
Maybe eventually, but I just don't trust Paizo overall. Their idea of excitement for martial characters is being able to make a charge and an extra attack.
The SOP system of excitment for martial characters is being able to tumble through oponents using yourself as an acrobatic disorienter as you damage and disarm and dismember your foes all at once.

Q #389 If you Contingency a Retry on being effected by your Eject Time, could you do 2min time travel for 6sec?
In a game I probably wouldn’t use it except maybe out of combat or as a DM. But would still be a neat trick.

As the author of the Diviner's Handbook, I was giving a ruling based upon what was intended.

Re: Spheres of Power Ask Me Anything #2
Can multiple glow effects from the Light sphere overlap? Say you have 3 adjacent creatures affected by your glow, and then 3 standard actions and spell points to make them shed bright light without concentration, with Searing Light as the (light) talent, would they each take 3 damage per round while they are adjacent to each other?
-
Re: Spheres of Power Ask Me Anything #2
Does the forge alter talent and exquisite details talent interact in any way?
Also, what talents would I need to turn a regular shield into a heavy shield for a short period of time?

Yes to both.

They don't. Exquisite Detail applies to create effects, while Forge is an alter ability. More importantly, detailed creation is covered by the Fabricate advanced talent. Same restriction would apply to Fabricate being an alter ability, but it's possible Exquisite Detail is meant to give a bonus to that one.
