Re: Oriental Adventures (Restart)
Vrishma's hair bristles slightly when he sees Shimikawa's reaction, and his face contorts in a snarl when he sees the monster show its true form. He runs back to the horse, casting an uncertain look at the monster once more, then urges the horse in a fast move.
He looks down at Shimikawa and hisses a curt Follow! in his tongue before following the others.
-
Re: Oriental Adventures (Restart)
You all ride hard and fast. There is another shriek from the spider as you round a bend and the scene goes out of sight.
((Ride hard or slow down a bit?))
-
Re: Oriental Adventures (Restart)
Masaya keeps riding hard, though he watches the ground to make sure the horse won't break its legs or anything.
-
Re: Oriental Adventures (Restart)
Ikeira
Ikeira keeps riding hard for a bit, two or three minutes to put some distance before slowing up so as to not thouroughly exhaust his mount, where he will dis mount and lead his mount for a little while to let it recover faster.
-
Re: Oriental Adventures (Restart)
There appears to be no sign of pursuit from either the spider thing or Genki. After some time, you come to the crossroads Genki spoke of. The path off to the left is the one that leads to the Vanaran homelands.
-
Re: Oriental Adventures (Restart)
Vrishma slows down a little as he sees the crossroad, and eventually halts. He will dismount to give his horse a little rest, stretch, and see if any of the animals need tending to.
-
Re: Oriental Adventures (Restart)
Chion
Chion will ride after the group in last position. He will ride up to Vrishma and dismount from his hore. After checking the horse for rocks in the hooves or burrs. he will affectionately pet and sooth the animal and hum a soothing melody while working with horse.
"these are fine steeds, you can tell they are from the Unicorn lands. We will traveling again soon ?"
-
Re: Oriental Adventures (Restart)
Masaya looks around. We ought to keep travelling now. Time is of the essence. Since that Dokufu attacked, we know we are already being hunted.
-
Re: Oriental Adventures (Restart)
((Just waiting for all of you to actually make some sort of action, hehe. This is character discussion time. Once you decide on a direction, I'll start moving things forward.))
-
Re: Oriental Adventures (Restart)
Ikeira
Ikeira points down the road the way genki told them to go.
"That way."
riding off at a walk in the direction they are supposed to go.
-
Re: Oriental Adventures (Restart)
You travel for awhile, but still no signs of the spider or Genki. Night begins to fall as the sun sinks behind the mountains.
-
Re: Oriental Adventures (Restart)
It irritates me to lose the time, Masaya says with a grimace, but we will have to make camp soon. In the night the horses might break a leg, and that would slow us down far too much. And without enough sleep, we would be easy pickings for the Oni which we must now assume are hunting us.
-
Re: Oriental Adventures (Restart)
Vrishma
Indeed. Fastest he is who does not hurry with haste, as the older rabbit told the younger. Vrishma nods and starts looking for a good place to camp. He seems less worried about the dusk, but still slows his horse somewhat.
((Would it make sense to roll survival to check for good places to camp or for nearby bodies of water?)
-
Re: Oriental Adventures (Restart)
((Nah, you find a place to camp fine. I forget now how long I said it would take to reach the lands of the Vanarans. In fact, to speed things along...))
A few days pass and you make it to the land of the Vanarans without incident.
((Vrishma may want to lead at this point, I don't know.))
Vrishma, after a certain point, you can tell you've crossed back into your homelands. After some travel, the group sees two well armed Vanarans standing in the path you've been following.
"State your business in our lands," one says to the group.
-
Re: Oriental Adventures (Restart)
Masaya turns to Vrishma. You'd be best to explain.
-
Re: Oriental Adventures (Restart)
Chion
Chion will pull his mount up and dismount gracefully. Obviuously sizing the two Vanarans up. He will move his cloak aside so the glraming breastplate shows over his fine red jacket.
"Yes, please so we may pass for the better of all."Chion will turn his attention to the surroundings as he walks up and rests his Naginata on the ground butt first.
-
Re: Oriental Adventures (Restart)
Vrishma
The shaman gives Chion a sideways look and a quiet easy, now, as he dismounts. Motioning Shimikawa to stay down, he approaches and greets the two politely. Vrishma I am, of the Ashoka tribe. These humans are my friends, they are, and we come in peace. We are heading towards my village, indeed we are, he says in their language. He continues with a tinge of concern in his voice You looked alarmed, I say. Is any trouble upon these lands, I ask?
-
Re: Oriental Adventures (Restart)
The Vanarans look at each other, and one of the guards responds in Vanaran ((I'm just going to say that's what the native tongue is called for now, heh))
"Ashoka tribe you said? Well, it just so happens that an ancient mine, Shiro Heichi, was previously discovered. It seemed a peaceful, serence place, so your tribe sent some people in to investigate. They never came out. The waters around the mine have turned to blood. We don't know what to make of the mine. Nothing has ventured out and attacked any settlements, as far as we can tell, so everyone has just been giving it a wide berth."
-
Re: Oriental Adventures (Restart)
Masaya leans over towards Vrishma. What did they say?
-
Re: Oriental Adventures (Restart)
Vrishma
Vrishma listens to the sentries with growing alarm, as everything sinks in. He mutters something under his breath, then looks at Masaya and answers in quiet Rokugani. He speaks slowly, and appears searching for words. The Shiro Heichi - kinsmen of mine have tried to investigate it, they have, and they have not come out. Worse, waters near it have turned crimson, the wardens say. Nothing else so far has happened, indeed it has not, but... The village elders more may know, they may.
The shaman sighs and addresses the vanaras. Most alarming, I say. I would ask the leaders of the tribe, I would - they may know more of this. Which tribe are you from? he inquires, speaking back in Vanaran.
-
Re: Oriental Adventures (Restart)
"I am also from the Ashoka tribe," one says, giving Vrishma a sympathetic look.
"I am from the Toryama tribe. A call went out for willing people to patrol the borders of our land. Word got out about a mine, and outsiders have been sneaking in to try and get at the mine. Those who make it in never come out."
-
Re: Oriental Adventures (Restart)
((La la la, bumping the string))
-
Re: Oriental Adventures (Restart)
During the interum of talking with the way-station guards, Masumi manages to reign in her dappled horse (whom she hasn't exactly gotten along with this trip) to move along side Ikeira, while passing him the smaller of the cudgels she's kept.
As soon as we break camp tonight you're going to get what you asked for...-- Bayushi-san! She calls, moving away from the wu jen. Bayushi-san, Vrishma, is everything going well?
-
Re: Oriental Adventures (Restart)
It sounds like the Shiro Heichi is dangerous somehow, he replies softly, I suspect the Oni know we are coming. We must beware of a trap.
-
Re: Oriental Adventures (Restart)
Should I... go for a walk?
Whispering to the OTHER person good at keeping secrets, Masumi gestures with her head, plaits bouncing , the beads in her hair swaying towards the woods. Although as a wolf she won't be walking so much as prowling, but she doesn't specify...
-
Re: Oriental Adventures (Restart)
Chion
"Good news that they know we are coming, we will recieve their best efforts."
Chion will say with a smile in response to Masaya affirmation.
-
Re: Oriental Adventures (Restart)
Masumi, your horse somehow manages to pull off a very "What have I done to make your life difficult" innocent-type look as you dismount, sensing your thoughts on the matter of riding the horse.
((Now seems to be a time for some character interaction, so interact dammit :smalltongue: ))
-
Re: Oriental Adventures (Restart)
Masumi just looks back at the horse with a look that says she could easily put an end to this if she wanted.
-
Re: Oriental Adventures (Restart)
Masaya waits stoically, and gestures at Masumi to stay where she is. We must wait and see what details Vrishma can discover, he says softly, not wanting to interrupt the Vanaras' discussion. After that, scouting might be a good idea, we will need to know what we are up against.
-
Re: Oriental Adventures (Restart)
Vrishma
Vrishma appears lost in thought for a while, then nods at his tribesman. I see, I do. We will travel to the Ashoka tribe, indeed we shall, and see if more there is that we could do. Which is the safest way to there, I ask? A while it has been since last I traveled these lands. he asks back in their language. He appears troubled, but calm.
