[jager]Nize hat, Franz[/jager]
Looks like Franz finally took his prize. It doesn't quite fit.:smallfrown:
Am I wrong? Or does that game designer have really messed up eyes? Anyways, the game sounds fairly basic puzzle/action style, but it could be interesting.
Gah.
I just tried to Sneaky Gate.
I got a picture with a high-skies view.
I was excited since there hadn't been a Sneaky Gate for a while.
I scrolled down...

Yeah.
No valid link but a valid autocorrect. BUT WHY THE HOPE?
PFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFHAHAHAHAHAHA
Man. Thats THE most embarrassing way for a dragon to fly.
If by "embarrassing" you mean "totally coolest" then I agree.
Well OK. I guess "Undignified" is more like it.
Meh. Needs armor. And guns. Big guns.
Yay, Franz! That IS wonderful!!
But they better hurry, I suspect flying objects attract a lot of attention and fire right now.
I wonder what happened to the pretty boy dragon? Franz has his helmet, but the head doesn't seem to still be in it, so maybe he's still alive...
A one-dragon pedal-powered flying machine. It looks as if the pedals drive twin turbines mounted one on either side. I didn't see that one coming. But it must be admitted, it is a both weird and wonderful contraption. :smallcool:
I'm a bit worried about spinning, though, given the lack of a tail rotor, but it is possible that Franz's flexible wings compensate for any irregularities.
Muahahahaha! This was simply wonderful! Epic!!!
The Heterodynes have the best monsters&minions ever; not only the lovely Jaegers but also Franz, the coolest dragon around!
I definitely WANT a metal paintable miniature from this scene! (including Agatha umbrella, please)
Don't look like turbines/rotors to me. I think it's more likely an "umbrella helicopter" except of course Barry's version worked. It ties in with Franz' comment about stuff with birds and kites being silly if you look at some of the other far-fetched "flyingfailing machine ideas.

Sorry I couldn't find a still of it, but I think that clip may be the only photographic record ever made.
This reminds me, 'cause sometimes I forget, that Phil is a cartoonist, not an author. For plot, Franz could have just flown Agatha into the sky. He's a dragon, has wings, dragons fly, etc. Instead you create a subplot of a non flying dragon just for the chance to draw a dragon powered flying machine!
Flight is not a simple thing. You double the size, you multiply mass by 8. Doubling wing size just doesn't cut it after a while. And Franz is barrel chested even for a dragon, making unassisted flight even less plausible.
On the other hand, of course, you're right: this is done purely for comedic effect.
It would probably more believable that Franz flies than the Empress of Blood.
We accept that the flying machine works...
If Real life physics the propellers are much too small and other flaws, likely means 4x the energy needed to get same lift, compared to ideal non turbine props.... even an ideal shaped craft with a very good power-to weight ratio for dragon would have trouble flying like that.
Why does everyone assume a fat dragon is a heavy dragon? How much of that girth might be spongiform hydrogen engorged air-sacks? Why, I bet ol' Franz could fly under his own power if not for his massive yet stylish boiler-plate jock-strap*.
* The contents of which, we dare not speculate.
What's interesting is that I think this is the first time since entering the castle that Agatha has had some "alone time" to think about some of the larger issues of her being The Heterodyne and for use to get insight into that.
So much for the last few pages not having a point. :smalltongue:
New page.
SpoilerGil?
Gil was wasped, but by ZOLA, not agatha. Remember in the castle? Even dying on his feet, every time zola got in trouble he would dive in to save her. Gil is still a danger, and the worst kind of danger of this pans out as him "proving" he is safe by disobeying agatha. Maybe zola didnt specifically wasp him, but he DOES obey her, so someone pulled it off at some point.
Gil isn't wasped. There was only one Wasp that can infect Sparks and it was used on The Baron.
Gil only protected Zola due to reflex (he did that a lot in Paris) and because he is really slow to understand betrayal by former friends. He's a big softie, to put it bluntly.
To put it softly, you wanted to say. To be more direct, he is a moron.
Feh, thats only what it looks like. He is utterly devoted to protecting her whenever she is in danger. Clearly he IS wasped, they just have the wrong master in mind. I think that would make for one hell of an interesting future twist personally. *EDIT* As for their only being one, thats what you think, but come on, with 30 factions within each major faction can you REALLY be sure that there was only one wasp made? Or even that there werent earlier, less perfect prototypes tried out?
Oh, I don't know, he wasn't in a hurry to save her from the nyar-spider.
