I think it would be awesome if there was a Super Smash Bros. for cereal mascots...
Or would they make Sugar Bear and Tony the Tiger too overpowered?
That actually sounds very familiar. I think something like that might actually exist, but is very obscure.

It'd be awesome. So, as a Smash coinoseur (or however its spelled) how should I distribute the stats for these characters and what should the stats be?

Buddy, I've been trying to do the same thing with a hypothetical ABR themed game for quite a while, now. :smallsigh:

Surely you know what stats I should make and how many points I should allot to any given character!
Also, how many starting characters should there be?

Connoisseur. We stole it from the French.

Out of curiosity, what sort of stats would I have, in your opinion?

Well ask him then...
Geez, try to make a hypothetical Smash Bros. game...

I have several, I'll have you know! They're just... indisposed right now. Besides, I thought you meant ABR, the collective/organisation/whatever, rather than ABR, the plotlines.
One is freezing to death in a snow covered wasteland, one is sitting around in orbit waiting for the first one to finally die, another is reassembling a pocket of stability within one of the most hostile planes in existence, and the others won't be introduced until FI.

He's busy. Ask him after the second coming.

But he's a fictional character I've made up for a comic!
Anyway, I haven't got a clue how the stats should be, except that they are very difficult to write down. There are also a whole bunch of other things taken into consideration to make these characters balenced, like how far their reach goes and how long they leave themselves open after they attack, to also balence out their stats.
With the amount of characters, I would say no more then 4 characters per series, but that doesn't really work for either of our hypothetical games, does it?

What powers would you have then? The powers of being a know-it-all?
You would be a terrible fighter if we didn't take your character instead, as we all would be. It's not plot-based, but we do need super-powers to fight.

Fine. :smallsigh:
Keep in mind that this is just a rough draft. If I've forgotten your character, it's probably because he's insignificant and he doesn't belong in the game. If he's not insignificant, I'll add him/her.
Salmon,
Threeshades,
Lying,
Nameless,
Randomizer,
Mechafox,
Q,
Kpenguin,
Ninja Chocobo,
Gremlin,
Keveak,
Skimmer,
Xartyve2,
Uhh.....One of Tiff's characters,
Nightwing (using the bizarre fight-style of "ass-kicked fu")
I think that's a somewhat short, if decent, list. A pretty balenced character list if I do say so myself.

You chose to laugh at the possibility that your character could possibly be considered insignificant, at least that's how it seemed to me. However, no-one voiced the opinion that your character was insignificant, and Q had in fact labelled him as "significant".
It is logical to assume then, that you had misinterpreted Q's post, and believed that he was labelling your character as "insignificant", hence your outcry.

Failure Osmosis. Make him reduce the stats and abilities of anyone who hits him.

Or maybe give him the power to duplicate himself? Or to come back from the dead?
-
Re: Avatar Battle Royale Discussion Thread XXIII: Because We're Lazy.
I think immortality, regeneration, or something to stop him from being dead about 100 times over...

That would be a terrible character! That doesn't reflect anything about the character at all and most of the "stats" of the characters cannot be reduced. If anything, it says that hurting Nightwing is bad.
No. Just imagine, when you're fighting Nightwing, for somebody (just a random ABRer) to use Nightwing AS A WEAPON, smashing him against you hurting both you AND NIGHTWING!
Basically, all of Nightwing's attacks would be him getting hurt to hurt the enemy. He would also take some damage every time he attacks.
Well I think it's cool. :smallannoyed:

Failure moves from areas of high concentration (Nightwing) to areas of low concentration (everyone else). Perfectly logical.

Sort of. But we still want to have the character balenced with all the others, while maintaining his crappy fighting style, all in a way that makes sense. Your idea makes no sense whatsoever.

Now I'm just confused. :smallconfused:
You know we're talking about a Super Smash Brothers-like game here, right? I don't think there is such a stat as "concentration", or how it could possibly affect gameplay.

Re: Avatar Battle Royale Discussion Thread XXIII: Because We're Lazy.
And Oliver will be an assist trophy. He jumps and grabs onto the enemy's clothing, slowing them down. His attack will be called "Coattail riding"

Re: Avatar Battle Royale Discussion Thread XXIII: Because We're Lazy.
So where did everyone in the Citadel go when Lying somehow was transported to the Invincible?

I think everybody's still in the Citadel. I think that's Lying's other clone, though.
Stupid clones. :smallsigh:
-
Re: Avatar Battle Royale Discussion Thread XXIII: Because We're Lazy.
I thought those clones of his were just backup copies as to the SRD spell and not able to function before the current running version kicks it.
