The characters are simply marvelous and leave you wanting to read on.
Yes. Don't know how much you normally read, but it might be a bit long for ''normal'' people at around 730 pages.
That might be a problem, it might be too short. What will I read when I finish it in a couple hours. :smallwink: That would be the perfect length. I read books that long all the time.

I'm watching Iron Chef in my history class.
Thanksgiving break is unofficially here.

*grumble*
Kids and your "breaks"
I had Thanksgiving break once...then I had to discover the joys of working retail on Black Friday in one of the major shopping malls in the state...

I work in a grocery store, probably the only store that's dead on Black Friday :smalltongue:

Re: Perenelle's Pleasantly Playful and Passionately Peculiar Random Banter #133
I work in an office that's closed.
The only reason I'm setting foot outside on that day is if my house is on fire...maybe not even then.
-
Re: Perenelle's Pleasantly Playful and Passionately Peculiar Random Banter #133
I plan to spend the day at home on Black Friday as well. No use in going out. Unless my friends want to hang out, of course. >.>
-
Re: Perenelle's Pleasantly Playful and Passionately Peculiar Random Banter #133
I'm going to be at home during Black Friday, unless my family has plans for that day.

Re: Perenelle's Pleasantly Playful and Passionately Peculiar Random Banter #133
I pretty much can't stand to be anywhere near a shopping center or store from about now until around February. Too many bloody people gaggling about like mentally-challenged ducks. It's hard enough sometimes to walk through a store without nearly plowing into someone that never quite got this "walking" thing down, throw Christmas shopping into the mix and it's a sure-fire combination that increases the desire to stab passerby about thirtyfold.

Re: Perenelle's Pleasantly Playful and Passionately Peculiar Random Banter #133
<_< My housemate wants to go out and start a brawl or something on Black Friday.
I don't think he really understands what it's all about...:smallconfused:

Nothing says "Merry Christmas!" like inciting a riot...:smallamused:

Re: Perenelle's Pleasantly Playful and Passionately Peculiar Random Banter #133
Well, Christmas is his favorite time of year.
Though he does seem to get more violent the more christmas music is played. :smallconfused: I think this might be because he hasn't learned to stop listening to it when in malls. Because he's not been in malls very often in his life and can lose his sense of direction in them relatively easily.

I think that generally holds true for all of us...you can only block it out for so long before it infiltrates your senses and slowly starts driving you mad.

I was once in Wal Mart for 36 hours (long story, don't ask) in the middle of November. Feliz Navidad was played every 3 songs...I counted.
To this day that song sends me into a murderous rampage.
I haven't been in stores recently to know whether or not the Christmas music is starting up again, but I'd assume so. I mean, Thanksgiving isn't really a marketable holiday...even if they tried.

Well, there's always three more of em. :p
I really enjoyed all four of them.

There's four? Excellent I'll have to start reading, and hopefully buy, them asap.

Ah yes, store music is horrendous in how much it repeats. While at my part time job in a supermarket, I have many times considered taking a gun and shooting the speakers, just to stop [Some Hit Song] from playing for the 50th time.

I was working in a music store when Timberlake's album came out a few years back. It played pretty much all day for the next several weeks.
I no longer fear Hell...

Ouch. Truly, you are a valiant man, for having lived through that all.

And I'm pretty sure we went straight from that into holiday music...
Yeah, I'm not a big holiday fan...

Re: Perenelle's Pleasantly Playful and Passionately Peculiar Random Banter #133
Aaaahhhhhh...
The Desert Bus guys are singing Piano Man by Billy Joel with Joel from Hothead.
Really awesome.
Edit: OOOooo! Now it's Times They Are Changing by Bob Dylan.

Re: Perenelle's Pleasantly Playful and Passionately Peculiar Random Banter #133
Damn, I wish I had this device with which I could override the store's speakers so that I could play my own music.
I firmly believe it would drive ordinary shoppers to suicide.
Okay, maybe not suicide, just fear.

Won't work in my store. Our music is broadcasted from a central hub that controls the music for the whole chain of stores. If a certain song is playing in one store of this chain, it's playing in all of them.

Wait.
You work in that store?
Do you have any idea of the power you have over the music they play?!
You just need to figure out where the music's coming from and how to hack into it...

No, we're not at the central hub. That's in....someplace. I don't know honestly.
-
Re: Perenelle's Pleasantly Playful and Passionately Peculiar Random Banter #133
But, I mean, you can ask around. It won't seem that weird. Not as weird as, let's say, some random guy with blonde fuzzy hair came asking "say, where's the central hub where the music's coming from?"
Also, IMO, one of the best old thrash songs - Electric Crown by Testament.
-
Re: Perenelle's Pleasantly Playful and Passionately Peculiar Random Banter #133
Ours is broadcasted from the central location as well (best I can figure, it's corporate headquarters). However, our little receiving device thingy has some ports for input for when they test the intercom.
Alternatively, we also just tape a few quarters to the button to activate the intercom and stick it next to a stereo for football games. That's a valid option as well, though you normally can't use the intercom after that.
I've told all my managers that on my last day I'm broadcasting Sister Machine Gun over the speakers.

The solution is to buy the HP Lovecraft Historical Society's CD of christmas carols inspired by cosmic horror. Then you have a reason to go slowly mad while listening to them. Plus, they're hilarious.
Also, I live in Canada, so no Black Friday for me. BWAHAHA.

Re: Perenelle's Pleasantly Playful and Passionately Peculiar Random Banter #133
Silly Americans. Thanksgiving is in October.
I don't mind having hit songs looping over and over again. Eventually, I find it almost humorous. I think there is a stage beyond that where I hate it, but I have luckily never reached that stage.

Re: Perenelle's Pleasantly Playful and Passionately Peculiar Random Banter #133
mehh.. I had to stay home sick from school today. :smallsigh: and the doctor said I cant go to school tomorrow either. I always end up getting sick right before Thanksgiving, I'm hoping whatever I have will clear up by Wednesday.
and I'll be missing 2 swim team practices which I was looking forward to.
Being sick sucks. =/
