Re: Keychain of Creation IV: The Lore Thing
I believe it can be salvaged. It has some merit. I'm worried a 3e might fail to transfer that Exalted feeling. Also, with the amount of work the ETP and Ink Monkeys have put into reviving Storyteller, it's a bit of a waste to scrap it.

I wouldn't say they revived it. I would more say they put bandages all over a brain-dead leper so its body functions continues for another day.
And it is kind of annoying to have to change the way you play the game every time new errata comes out. I could just ignore the errata, but then the problems persist and I'm on a totally different wavelength from everyone else.

:smallconfused:
I'm confused. Isn't Storyteller just the basic mechanic WW use, the same way Wizards use the d20 system?
Any 3e would still use Storyteller, just adjust it.

I thought they started using a similar but new system for the New World of Darkness, and so they'd probably use that for any third edition.
Or, I'm completely lost.

There are two alternatives:
1) Use Storytelling system, which is what new World of Darkness uses. Then again, Exalted's issues would probably jump right into Storytelling without some major modifications to how the combat works from the way it does right now.
2) Use a completely different, non-STer/STing system. I have no idea how this would work, but various people have ported Exalted into extant systems with varying levels of success, so, it might be feasible.

Re: Keychain of Creation IV: The Lore Thing
I believe it's like this:
oWoD and Exalted 1e used the Storyteller system. they then revamped it, changed a few stuff around (most notable static instead of rolled defenses) and labelled it the Storytelling system. nWoD uses the base system while Scion and Exalted uses a more elaborate version.
Edit: Got it all backwards. Edited the above to be correct according to Wikipedia.

No. Old World of Darkness, Scion, Aberrant and all of Exalted uses the Storyteller system. Only New World of Darkness currently uses Storytelling.

Re: Keychain of Creation IV: The Lore Thing
I'm pretty certain the books say they use Storytelling in all of 2e. Let me check.
Edit: Exalted 2e Core p.15 there is a header called "Storytelling" and the first line is "At its heart, storytelling is make-believe with rules." While not outright stating it uses the Storytelling system, it's still a good implication.
-
Re: Keychain of Creation IV: The Lore Thing
Oh man, if they use things like that to reveal what system they're using... :smallyuk: barf-o-rama.

Try the credits page of Wonders of the Lost Age. You'll see that the system is explicitly Storyteller.
Besides, Storytelling and Storyteller are different animals. Storytelling has no Backgrounds, no bonus points and uses completely different attributes.

On the copyright page, pg. 10 it says 'Storyteller System'.

Re: Keychain of Creation IV: The Lore Thing
Lost eggs? Seems like it'd be a sad Dynast who collected tolls on a bridge.
Is the big one even Exalted?

Ooh, there are undertones there that I'd be willing to enjoy for someone as awesome as Jukashi. :smalltongue::smallwink:

Re: Keychain of Creation IV: The Lore Thing
I've played WoW too much for "scourged" to mean anything else than "turned into a undead, mindless pawn of the Lich King."
What does it mean in English?

Re: Keychain of Creation IV: The Lore Thing
Whipped. Generally with spikes and blades on the ends, I believe.

Re: Keychain of Creation IV: The Lore Thing
Ahh, how boring, they were bandits after all.
Well, i cant imagine it would take Ten very long to solve this little issue, unless of course Marena just seduce them, how good are the average Terestials defence against stuff like that.

Well, he does appear to be wearing White Jade armour... So I'll say yes, an Earth Aspect.
I've changed my mind. The Wood Aspect is not a Fiend. He is, however, kind of a ****.

You talk dirt about erratta, boy, and you n' me are gonna have to step... outside...

Re: Keychain of Creation IV: The Lore Thing
everyone who thinks that its gonna break out into a fight and that the bridge is gonna break under them because of the over-the-top action and start the first twist of this arc that leads to them all being separated, raise your hand.
*raises hand*

Re: Keychain of Creation IV: The Lore Thing
Huh. I thought there were only 10,000 Dragon-Blooded in the entire Creation - which is huge - and the Blessed Isle were their seat of power where they rule the mortals and involve themselves in politics. Wouldn't they have better things to do than shake down travellers who might or might not be rich? Then again, they might have fallen out of favor in their family or something.

10,000 Dynasts.
An unknown amount of Lost Eggs and Outcastes exist everywhere.

Ten thousand's just a number that sounds cool, like the Crazy 88.
