Re: Goblins IX: For that, you shall DIE!
I like how even though she's 12 seconds from bleeding to death she still feels like investing 6 of them into washing spit off her potion.:smallamused: I probably would not have let that bother me, personally, given the circumstances.
Haha, look at the blood coming from Duv. It might be a bit too premature to celebrate since much of that could be his blood, but it sure looks to me right now like she's all smashed flat under the water there which would make sense since a 500 pound guy just landed on top of her.

The bad math only works if you are a player character. Herbert isn't great at making sure players are on top of that stuff. I mean he let Minmax's player get away with all kind of stuff like a starting strength of 22...

I would have used a different smile. Such this one:
I needed a little comedic moment.

Guys, isn't the blood not from Duv, but Biscuit's stump?

My money's on a bit of both.

Honestly Biscuit falling on Duv wouldn't really make Duv bleed much. It might crack her skull and break her bones, but not really bleed. And since biscuit has a stump now that has yet to be treated, my money is on it being Biscuits blood.
-
Re: Goblins IX: For that, you shall DIE!
I'm not putting my money on any of the blood, because -- ew! Bloody money! :smalltongue:
But I do think it's supposed to indicate the Duv has indeed been hit, whether or not she's smashed.
Still, I wouldn't put it past Thunt to have her suddenly rise from the water behind Biscuit.
(And I too was much amused by Saves' taking the time to wash off the flask while at death's door. Her expression while doing so is priceless.)

Ever see what happens when broken bones get punched through a persons skin? It is not nice and there can be a lot of blood.

Even if she's not dead there's no way she's getting up to stab Biscuit in the back. You don't just shrug off ~500 pounds dropping onto you.

Actually from the splashdown strip, while it might just be a scale issue since Biscuit is so large, it did sort of seem to me that he landed too close to Fox to have hit Duv, and Duv was just behind where he landed. On the other hand, if that were actually true she would be visible behind him in the current strip and since she isnt AND thats clearly her wing in the water in panel 4, so it must indeed have merely been a scale/perspective issue last strip and he did indeed land on her, and since we know she hasnt moved for at least 2 rounds (Biscuit landed when Fox was at -6 and she's at -8 in panel 4 where we see her wing) I'm gonna say she is indeed out.
-
Re: Goblins IX: For that, you shall DIE!
He landed on his back and facing away from Fox.
So Biscuit would have had to turn completely around before noticing her and probably rolled around on top of Duv the entire time. If Duv was alive or at least conscious, I don't see how she could've avoided catching his attention
-
Re: Goblins IX: For that, you shall DIE!
Maybe Biscuit will use the orb to replace his leg, but he'll get a wing instead. That would be funny.

Some great facial expressions on Biscuit there.

Nice, he landed on her so hard he got a feather stuck in his flesh. I bet that felt like finding a surprise splinter stuck in you.
Also, I believe the proper word for Fox this update is "adorkable", yes?

And some words from the Orc himself about why he went back to reduce the surplus Viper population, with it not being entirely because they had it comin'.
I'm trying to think of some way for Duv to not be quite dead yet, but can't come up with anything that satisfies me. :smallannoyed:

If she did live it would stretch credulity considering how much he weighs and the fact that he landed directly on top of her skull. By rights her entire spine should have been obliterated by that.

Re: Goblins IX: For that, you shall DIE!
OK, that one made me laugh! A moment of levity was sorely needed!

From the look on his face and the approximate location he's scratching, I'm not sure "his flesh" is necessarily where it got stuck in. In which case all I can say for Duv's chances is ewwww:smalleek:

Oh, you think that he pulled that off of her then? That could be possible, probably at least as likely as smashing a feather loose and getting impaled on it.

I wish the water distorted a bit more so that it didn't look like their skin is melting off.

I assume we just need to wait for the shading to fix that.

Re: Goblins IX: For that, you shall DIE!
At this point, I would imagine Duv is going to be pissed. If she is still alive, then she has just been near drowned twice in one fight. Thats gotta be annoying. Also, that was one hell of a healing potion! And one hell of an interesting idea for any DnD players out there with large characters. Store a buttload of potions in your mouth before a fight starts. That way you can just bite down and heal yourself massively in an emergency.

Sure, Marnath. That's what he meant. :smalltongue:
-
Re: Goblins IX: For that, you shall DIE!
Well if you're gonna be like THAT about it, then I'm just gonna hafta make ya sorry- So my new theory is that the orb and the healing potion overdose has just grafted Duv onto Biscuits leg stump as his new leg. Or has grafted Biscuit onto Duvs wing stump as her new wing. One of those.
See what you made me do? DO YOU SEE??!?! :P

I dunno, I thought the third to last panel had the best biscut expression.

But that would make sense if there was some fast healing bird (Pheonix Down). Like in FF games, a pheonix fits, but what in D&D?
