Is it possible for a Page to become a Librarian?
From what we know at the moment, a librarian is a guy (or a gal) with a whitebox weapon. So unless there's some unrevealed fluff about how whitebox weapons do not bind themselves to pages...
Also, a page is a normal human who binds himself to a codex, so the reverse question ("Is it possible for a Librarian to become a Page?") is valid too.
About the latest development. It seems kinda odd that the old guy would prefer to do boring paperwork instead of putting his wisdom and experience to the cause of helping Ben learn how to use this unusual weapon. Logically, the paperwork would be deferred to the assistants, they're here to take care of the chores so that there's time free to take care of the important work.
But given what we've seen of her temperament so far, it seems that she's very bad at being an assistant and the old man saw here an opportunity to get her away so that some work can actually be accomplished for a change.
Then there's the out-of-story reason of giving Ben another cute female sidekick. Much better than a fat old grump. Plus it opens the love triangle. (Silly Gloria. Doesn't she know that the first girl always win? Ben already belongs to Eve.) Furthermore, it'll also help to delay discovery of all of Bib's powers.
Besides: an impulsive girl is better suited to enact a proper Training from Hell, then a jovial old man with a bit of a weight problem. :smallwink:
"Right, let's see how many you can absorb at once. Codex of Ma'at spell 50, SCALE OF ANUBIS SCALE OF ANUBIS SCALE OF ANUBIS SCALE OF ANUBIS SCALE OF ANUBIS SCALE OF ANUBIS SCALE OF ANUBIS SCALE OF ANUBIS SCALE OF ANUBIS SCALE OF ANUBIS!"
Or something like that. :smalltongue:
I'd say a very prideful shipping subject of the pantomime codex:smalltongue:
I'm going to guess that no, they can't. Or possibly that Page's can become Librarian's, but don't (or aren't allowed to), though I think the first option more likely.
The whitebox weapons were created to combat Abyssals. If Page's could be Librarians, there would exist the real risk that they would descend and you'd end up with Abyssals with whitebox weapons. Not pretty. So I think it likely that whitebox weapons were designed such that a Page could not use them.
Edit: Oh, and you can remove chapter 8, since its all up on GaijinManga.
Actually it seems there may be a number of them. Likely you're thinking of here where they mention that Aaron Lambros is one of the six Master Librarians in Tiltstone. Also, if you look in the background there you'll notice Chester Belmont as well as Uncle Fong (along with 3 people we haven't seen).
Also, did anyone else notice when they mention Tiltstone's 5 high chapters that they are saying the All-Seeing Codex is one, but also show symbols of a moon, a bat, what looks like a drop of water and lightening with something going through it (seems kinda like two bolts making me think it may be related to the Frankenstein monster).
Edit: Also, given that in Chapter 9, Page 2 Belmont says that the Lexicon is something Librarians never thought possible to touch (approximately), I expect that Pages can't become Librarians and Librarians can't become Pages.
Owrtho
I was Archive Binging, and I noticed some things.
First of all, It's stated that only certain chapters can detect Auras. The two we know about are the All-Seeing (For obvious reasons) and Ma'ats. Just an interesting tidbit.
Secondly, when Eve is first introduced, she identifies herself as Eve Smith. But you learn her parents were Abigail and Atticus Wolfgang. I wonder why she changed her name...
We discussed about that earlier in the thread. Either she made that name up, or she didn't. Remember that she was very young when her father went away, so if her mother went back to her maiden name, or remarried, then it would make sense for her to have grown as Smith rather than Wolfgang.
Yes.
Can a Page have a Whitebox Weapon, though? The wording of "Normal humans with withebox weapons" in that same strip makes me think that Pages can use them, too... but it's rather ambiguous.
Well, they are said to, quote "Hire Pages as well". To me, that sounds like individual librarians hiring pages to help out, not the Librarians as an organization (The Library as it were) hiring pages to become Librarians. Especially since it seems Librarian's arn't so much "Hired" as recruited.
The part of "The vast majority are normal humans..." is what leads me to believe that the hired Pages are also considered Librarians.
Alright, they may be considered Librarians, but do they get Whitebox Weapons? Or do they just tag along to help a Human Librarian wielding a Whitebox, or operate in groups to bring down Abyssals. Or maybe they only handle the non-abyssal part of a Librarian's duties.
The Whitebox Weapon part is what I was wondering about, too. It isn't specified that they can't use them (I think), but it hasn't been said that they can, either.
Page 3
Whew, another page up.
Where's that? (that the triforce came from that is)
Only two students? Why flip out about that? :smallconfused:
The teacher's name means white, while the student's means black. Huh.
Iiinteresting...
You can tell she's a jerk.
Why do I have the feeling that one of them is going to go bad?
Well, normally I'd assume the student. But the teacher becoming the villain is slightly less cliched... and Elagune is skilled enough to avoid cliches. XD
TRIFORCE!
Question, is technology "awakened." I mean, can a camera capture a picture of paranormal activity so that it is there, but people's eyes just glaze over it? And would a robot be awakened automatically?
My guess is that she doesn't have students very often and have to do a lot of work to teach them.
So more like a mentor than a teacher, really.
I'm more wondering what happened to Terry's face O_O
@Hypo: I'm guessing it depends on the viewer. If Ben saw a picture of an Eyedoll he would see it but a non-awakened would not
X-Shaped scar. Automatic badass. No question.
That would imply a bit of the concealing magic is transferred to the image. And transferred again and again to copies of it. It's certainly possible since apparently auras leave "impressions". But it does give some credence, in that universe, to the myth that pictures take a bit of your soul...
Presumably the concealing magic is omnipresent and as such covers a picture of someone concealed. IIRC there's no mention of the Pages controlling the concealing and awakenings so it's reasonable to bet that it covers all of reality and not just the area occupied by the supernatural.
Also, I thought the myth was that a picture steals your entire soul? Certainly how it works in Martin Mystery :smalltongue:
It could be changed a bit. Myths always change. :smallwink:
Martin Mystery was an okay show.
I'm curious, though, if there's more to the Bibliography world than just Pages and Librarians. Maybe an explanation for mythical events that seem a bit strange for a page or a librarian to have?
