Re: Murphy's Law 8: College? What About It?
Fennecs are desert foxes in real life. I suspect fire/water would be a little odd. They're also nocturnal, so fire/dark might work.
(What I want to see, Fire/Grass/Water and Fighting/Rock/Flying, maybe Grass/Fighting, Water/Flying, Fire/Rock. That gives a primary type that cycles one way, and a secondary type that cycles the other way. Of course, that cycle offers more opportunity for fire/fighting which would be bad. Also just not very likely that they'd do something like that.)
Semi-off topic escape, stage left...

I wouldn't worry to much, from discussions I have been having with friends who have helped me analyze the trailer it looks like it may be Fire/Psychic. Which would make sense since foxes are considered "supernatural" animals and have a lot of lore associated with them.

Just be aware that it might be difficult to reverse-engineer the setting from the comic. Coffee writes after the Iceberg principle - you only see 10%.

Exactly; there's a whole load of stuff you haven't seen yet and hasn't yet been mentioned. Plus you didn't ask.

Yeaaaaah. You might want to ask if using the setting is ok. Obviously using her style of writing (Self aware et all) is pretty much fair game, as that's what the Giant uses, too. But her setting is intellectual property, and an important one at that.
Not that I expect she'd demand payment or anything.

Re: Murphy's Law 8: College? What About It?
I am sharing my setting details with friends but I would be annoyed if they used them without asking first. A lot of work goes into making worlds, and a lot of emotions too. They are our babies.
-
Re: Murphy's Law 8: College? What About It?
Exactly. I'm pretty upset that you didn't ask me first.

And you have every right to be.

It's unethical, and it's also copyright infringement! Guys, please don't do this. If you like my work enough to use it or pay homage, then ask my permission first and if I give it then please, PLEASE cite!

Sorry, I hate to be rude, but did you actually copyright this or am I mistaking the process? Because I always see people on the internet claiming they have a copyright even though I'm 99% sure you do need to apply for it officially. And I doubt that all these people are actively making a copyright for most of the things that I see that claim copyright. Sorry if you understand me as being rude, I do not mean to be offensive :(.
edit: the smiley is cut off on my computer monitor >:(

Re: Murphy's Law 8: College? What About It?
It's not copyright infringement since it does not have a copywrite. It is theft of intellectual property which is still really bad.

Ohh, okay I get it I think. Copyright ==> legal process, intellectual property ==> something that you made you don't need to do anything further. Am I understanding it correctly? Its confusing if these are different and people use them interchangeably.

Re: Murphy's Law 8: College? What About It?
Whatever it is, it was taken from me without permission and without giving credit. That's what upsets me.
-
Re: Murphy's Law 8: College? What About It?
That is the gist of it. It is a little more complex, but in laymens terms, yes.
Intellectual property is a work that you can show that you created on your own, it may be influenced by things but you have the rights to it. And to make it even more complex, once you make something in the USA you technically have copyright of it. I made a video project to help inform on an issue and had to go through things to forfeit part of my copyright to the video so that it could be freely used and shared.

That's why I have a copyright on the bottom of each comic. I spent a night looking at the laws and talking to my dad (a financial lawyer) before adding that.

That she has, never noticed it before. I guess it is one of those things people just glance over.

Re: Murphy's Law 8: College? What About It?
Actually, didn't you officially apply for one? I remember seeing the relevant info posted here or something. I know that's how I know your first name, anyway. Forgot the rest of it.

I know her real name because I noticed the copyright on the later comics. :smalltongue:
Elagune does the same thing, although I don't think he's copyrighting Thaumaturge.

Oh, almost forgot: It's page 27 if you don't want to sift through for numbers.
I'LL NEVER TELL.
Google "site:giantitp.com murphy's law copyright" and it's the 8th result on page 3.

Feel free. And don't mess with the Coffster - both her parents are lawyers.

I finally discovered your true name under your current comic.
Spoiler
Show
Caroline Kramer.
Never noticed it before and I thought your real name is "Coffee Includensberg" or just "Coffee Included".

Now that you know her True Name you get power over her. You can say it, and if she's around - she may answer.
Your last name means "merchant", doesn't it?

LOL. That's the sort of Outsider Wizards SHOULD be summoning: writers and smart people.
