I'm assuming the spider is already dead; I'm just talking about turning a carcass into a shawl. Arranging for the spider to be dead seems to be the truant officer's job. I'm also assuming that back in primitive Skifander young Zeetha learned how to turn hides into clothing.

Judging from the glimpses we've seen, Skifander is not in any way "primitive". If they use hides to make what little clothing they do wear, it's a deliberate fashion choice.

Re: Girl Genius XX: Endothermic Life Forms Are Inherently Heretical
I hope no one told the Folios to deliver the other messages.
Of course, if that's not what went wrong, I suppose we're about to find out who managed to interfere with the Master's messages.

Re: Girl Genius XX: Endothermic Life Forms Are Inherently Heretical
I suspect we're about to see an attempted assassination. And possibly a demonstration of why the Master is still in charge of Paris after this long, with the would-be assassins as object lessons.

Or maybe even a successful assassination.. Either way, maybe we'll learn what the Master really has under that robe.

Really, I am not sure if I WANT to know. :smalleek:

Yes, that's almost a Foglio trope. The character learns things are going wrong, just before the boom is dropped on him before he has a chance to react much. I think the MoP might be a bit more than most assassins can deal with, though...
At least he'll know that his staff has been infiltrated and he's being circumvented. If he gets through this, that will result in changes. And maybe a bit more gratitude to Agatha, if she saves things while he could not.

Re: Girl Genius XX: Endothermic Life Forms Are Inherently Heretical
I suspect that the other messages were intercepted by the same computer meddling that caused the Master's minions to not bother with the Geisters and the Revenants - and Der Kestle's meddling has allowed this message to come through.
And yes, time for The Other to make her try for the MoP. Since the Lord High Conservator went down, the MoP won't.:smalltongue:

Apparently Colette hasn't managed to get through yet, either.

Re: Girl Genius XX: Endothermic Life Forms Are Inherently Heretical
Well, Beausoliel obviously thinks he can get away after telling the Master that he's a traitor, within arm's reach. Obviously a good spy would have prepared for this moment, but that's seriously cocky - or he just doesn't care that he's about to be caught and imprisoned or worse.

This is just a clank body. Agatha destroyed dozens of them. He doesn't particularly care about what happens to it.

I doubt this is his real body, he's been using duplicates so far, although he did seem sorry to see them destroyed. Apparently he considers this moment worth it to sacrifice one. I can kind if see why, Sparks genrally hate to pass the opportunity to gloat. :smallamused:

Re: Girl Genius XX: Endothermic Life Forms Are Inherently Heretical
Does anyone really think the Master doesn't have a way to kill the real Beausoliel all lined up in case of this situation?

Re: Girl Genius XX: Endothermic Life Forms Are Inherently Heretical
I didn't think he was a good 'un.

And with Beausoliel revealed as the traitor, it's not hard to figure out why. Hopefully he's just got her captive somewhere and didn't do anything more drastic. If the Master of Paris has some sort of hold on him, the ability to turn off all his clank bodies, for instance, then having Collette - not merely his daughter, but his head of intelligence - as a card he can play might give Beausoliel, trump.
-
Re: Girl Genius XX: Endothermic Life Forms Are Inherently Heretical
Beausoliel appears to be suffering from severe backstabbing disorder, unless this is a double-bluff run against the master of Paris for the benefit of the master of Paris, something that wouldn't seem beyond his twisted sparky personality. (Err, or would that be triple?)

The Master has how many children, again? More than can be conveniently counted. I doubt he treats them as disposable, but on the other hand, he's not going to give Beausoliel as much as Agatha would for Gil, as just one example. Also, no matter how long BS has had to prep his betrayal, the Master has been prepping for that betrayal longer still.

I suspect it's for the benefit of Beausoliel, and whoever else winds up benefiting is a side effect.

He seems to be wasped. (I mean the real Beausoliel, who is running the clank bodies.) I think that's all that's to it. Granted, this being GG, one can never be sure it's as simple as it seems.

Problem with that idea is that we've only ever seen one wasp that can infect a Spark, and it was suggested it was something pretty unique. I think Sparks suddenly being generally vulnerable to Wasp attack would be a pretty major plot point that wouldn't be sidelined...

Then surely it would be "mistress", not "master".

Yeah, I forgot about him being a spark. :smalleek:
OK, I really hope there isn't yet another side to this because things are already complicated enough. Grandma seemed very happy that Andronicus was burning his way to the surface, so maybe her? The last time we saw one of Beausoliel's clanks, it was escorting Kaja and another professor on their mission to collect Cheyenne, but it didn't follow them to the surface. Perhaps he got a better offer at PTU, but I don't think he would gloat quite so much if that was all that there was to it. :smallconfused:

Master is perfectly gender neutral, unless you're referring to...other things.

Jagers
Castle
Coffee shop patrons
The distinction seems in use not only in dedicated groups like Jagers, but also general populace minions.
Granted, these are Mechanicsburg minions reacting to a Heterodyne, although not yet declared.

Re: Girl Genius XX: Endothermic Life Forms Are Inherently Heretical
And Lucrezia would want to be called "Mistress," but those examples were all to Agatha's face. Beausoliel wouldn't have said "new Mistress," under the circumstances. I think he might say, "Mistress Lucrezia is my new Master."
-
Re: Girl Genius XX: Endothermic Life Forms Are Inherently Heretical
The Other probably cares more about not giving clues about her identity than about correct pronouns.

The wasp used on Klaus was indeed a solitary prototype, but that was two and a half years ago comic-time. One of the Other's minions could have reproduced it by now. (Though as noted by Gil at one point, not the Other herself, for whatever reason she isn't producing new stuff..)
All that said, I'm still not convinced it's the Other that he's talking about.
-
Re: Girl Genius XX: Endothermic Life Forms Are Inherently Heretical
Of course if you do have spark-affecting wasps, your main plan would likely be to wasp the Master, not mass-wasp the citizens of Paris ;P

Maybe they're low quality and can only wasp low level citizens?

IDK about that now. That was true in the past, but it probably depends on her mood at the time now or on whatever her current plan requires. The copy of Lucrezia inside Agatha certainly didn't seem to worry about the monks figuring out who she was. Granted, this would have to be a different copy, but IIRC Gil seemed to think that a copy wanted to be known as the "Queen of the Dawn" and "Mistress" would just seem normal in that case.
