A child's marble lost in the woods.
Are we about to find out how Mort died?

That would be intriguing, but I'm not sure how you got that from the picture of the talon.

Re: Gunnerkrigg Court 3: Mystery Solved!
Given the set up so far, I have to wonder if Mort was ever alive to have died. :smallconfused:
My reading so far of what has been said about him and what's been said about what passes for an afterlife (I think one step lower than Philip Pullman's) suggests that he couldn't exist without being bound in some kind of abominable rite such as created Jeanne, and since he isn't craycray, he probably isn't a dead human.

I was thinking 'owl foot'. Specifically, Muut's.
Maybe not.

Re: Gunnerkrigg Court 3: Mystery Solved!
Annie's enjoying herself.
Smitty's not.

What happens when Smitty imposes order in the Court's highly structured setting? Order. What happens when Smitty tries to impose order in the Forest' chaotic environment? RUN! Old Blowhard is getting ol' Blowback for his choices...should have listened to Jones.

Re: Gunnerkrigg Court 3: Mystery Solved!
I want Smitty's jacket. Classy gentleman.

Okay, I get that the girl is Parley, but... who's the man?

James "Jimmy-Jims" Jimmers.

+1.
It's people like you that need those crazy subtitles under everything!

So did they turn invisible or something?

Nah. Just a rather unexpected reaction to his order power + a lot of angry animals = run for your life and get as good as a lead as possible.

Re: Gunnerkrigg Court 3: Mystery Solved!
"Oh, nothing too serious, but I suggest running."
Words akin to a bomb squad member going: "Oops."
-
Re: Gunnerkrigg Court 3: Mystery Solved!
Suggestion of running to the two people who are assigned the task of protecting the mediums make it a rather big "Oops".
Glad to see the return of Tom's skill of telling story without exposition. The second half of Jones chapter made me wonder if he still has it, but the last two panels of this week's comic is very nice return to form. Something is going on, the characters are reacting to it, and audience is being taken along.

Re: Gunnerkrigg Court 3: Mystery Solved!
Can't figure out what they could be running from. It can't be Ysengrin or Annie would be more upset. It might be Coyote in a playful mood, but Smitty'd be more afraid in that case, not knowing the Trickster's ways. Annie seems to be actually enjoying herself, somewhat, so I doubt it's a herd of Glass Eyed Men out for blood. It might be they'd managed to hack off a swarm of fairies and are running to avoid being pelted with little bodies. I just can't think of what it could be. I'm sure we'll find out. And it will be funny.
Or not.

Re: Gunnerkrigg Court 3: Mystery Solved!
It's probably something we haven't met before.
Frankly, I think I like staid, droll Antimony better than her crazy, trickster mood.
-
Re: Gunnerkrigg Court 3: Mystery Solved!
I'd like to have seen her change from staid to trickster over her summer in the forest, but I guess we're not going to see that.

Authors. You can't trust them. I've known this ever since Who Murdered Roger Ackroyd, and it's still true today.
Anyway, leaving aside Annie's teasing... Who COULD the letter be from?
Kat's not handling this well.

Re: Gunnerkrigg Court 3: Mystery Solved!
Clearly, they were being chased by the Cursed Teapot.

It could be Annie being a troll, but that seems a bit unlikely, despite her recent, more tricksterish demeanour.
SECOND EDIT: By this I mean the sentiments in the letter are genuine and written by Annie, not that the entire thing was a prank. That would just be cruel.
It could be from a robot. They all love their angels.
It could be Alistair (Is that name symbolic? It's got to be symbolic) the bird guy again somehow.
EDIT: OHAI! I'm new. Just caught up to the comic yesterday and it was very good, though I probably missed lots of references.

Re: Gunnerkrigg Court 3: Mystery Solved!
It looks like it was written by Strong Bad's old computer's printer.

Re: Gunnerkrigg Court 3: Mystery Solved!
I really like Annie's new hairstyle!
As for the letter, I'm confused, di d Annie take it, but not read it? If so, why?

She didn't read it because Kat took it back from her.
*edit: New update!
Annie looks like a gnome compared to that big guy. I wonder if she's going to end up being that much shorter than everyone, or if she will yet gain some of Surma's height.

Re: Gunnerkrigg Court 3: Mystery Solved!
Ah, good, she's starting at the beginning. We'll be able to see how the whole kerfuffle happened.
Andrew's pointing at something down in the Chasm. I doubt Jeanne would be out and about, but maybe you can see her body from the bridge if you know where to look...
