Either way I keel you, take your books and the sweeties.
Bought them.
Actually, they guy tried to scam us a little, seeing as how we only pay at most $2 dollars per book(except for special cases), and we told him this.
When he said $2.50 both me mum's and my head whipped around like we'd been slapped.
The look on his face as we stared him down was priceless.

Chocolate covered honey drops, anyone?:smallamused:
Lucky. What kinds of books were they?

Re: TwoBitWriter's Tubular Tracts of Thought-Talking Random Banter #111
Mostly pretty collections of things, as well as a good scattering of non-fiction from the turn of the century and decent "new-ish" fiction.
We have a buyer in new york that gobbles up anything of our old encyclopedias and the like, so we should be able to make a good profit off all of it.

Re: TwoBitWriter's Tubular Tracts of Thought-Talking Random Banter #111
Rhetorical question: Why is it that whenever I "tidy up" my hard drive and back files up onto CD or DVD I always use the word "various".
Searching for a picture, of which there are actually very few, showing myself, I realised that I have about 15 discs, all of which have the word various written on the front. Maybe I should make a late new years resolution to be more precise about this.
@ Wadledo:
Is the intention of selling all the books on? *shudder* The pain that I would feel parting with that much paper is just unthinkable.

Ditto.
@wadledo:
I have enough books to set up my own bookshop too, but one: even though I'm two months older than you I don't think I could handle selling all my precious books. I'd want to keep them forever and ever.
Good Omens has something to say about this (paraphrased): 'If pressed Aziraphale would have to admit he only had a bookshop to store his books. In this, he was the typical second - hand bookshop owner' and then it lists ways they discourage sellers from actually buying said books.
That'd be me if I had a bookshop.

The way it works is that I only sell books i don't want to read, or books I have copies of.

Re: TwoBitWriter's Tubular Tracts of Thought-Talking Random Banter #111
That has got to be one of the most fantastic ways of making a living I have heard of. *Is intensely jealous*.
I have a friend who used to lecture at a couple of universities, he has the most amazing book collection, although very little of it is non factual. Some of the titles make me wonder though... "The Secret Life of Trees" made me look twice.
I currently have very little space to keep my collection so most of it is stored in boxes in the loft :smallfrown:

Re: TwoBitWriter's Tubular Tracts of Thought-Talking Random Banter #111
Oh. My. God.
There is a constant, high-pitched EEEEEEEEEEEE noise (no B and P because it's not starting or stopping, it's just constant) in the house.
It's driving me insane.
I am going to kill something.
:smallfurious:
Also, I should be studying for my exam tomorrow.
Meh.

Re: TwoBitWriter's Tubular Tracts of Thought-Talking Random Banter #111
I'm extremely glad to be back from winter break. Just about the best thing that happened was being able to see my dogs again. It went downhill from there. There were some major family problems that caused so much tension that even Scooby-doo wouldn't be able to cut it. And for those it may concern, I wasn't able to finish the ship story line I was working on because it is pretty hard to write well when there is so much anger in the air. Don't worry though because I have it all planned out in my head.
I hope everyone else had a better one.
And as a warning ahead of time, it is going to take a few days for me to be cheerful again.

Re: TwoBitWriter's Tubular Tracts of Thought-Talking Random Banter #111
That's too bad, Wolfbane. :smallfrown: Having family issues is no fun. And that's a huge understatement.
Well, at least you're back now.
Also...where's Cobra? This man needs a hug, stat! :smalltongue:
In other news, the beep noise stopped. Apparently it was a rogue meat thermometer. :smallconfused: It has been caught and put to justice, in any case.
And yeesh...this is a slow night in the playground.
Come on, I'm trying to not study for my exams here! Where is everyone?
-
Re: TwoBitWriter's Tubular Tracts of Thought-Talking Random Banter #111
Welcome back Wolfbane, now i can stop thinking Mooncalled is you with a different avatar. >_<
Meat thermometers are the devil. And I've been wondering where everyone was myself, actually. Cobra should be around since he just snuggled me for Relationship weirdness.
*group hug!*
-
Re: TwoBitWriter's Tubular Tracts of Thought-Talking Random Banter #111
*runs in with huggles for Wolfbane, Sneak, and Coidzor*
Cobra is here, but trying to figure out how to make everything work right. *nodnod*

Re: TwoBitWriter's Tubular Tracts of Thought-Talking Random Banter #111
Computer troubles, good sir?
And what kind of exams are you avoiding, my other good sir?
-
Re: TwoBitWriter's Tubular Tracts of Thought-Talking Random Banter #111
Eh, no big deal, just high school sophomore midterms. I already took my European History and English 10 exams. Tomorrow is Chemistry Extended (basically just the more "challenging" chem class). After that I've got Spanish 3 and Algebra 2/Trigonometry Honors.
I'm not too worried about my exam tomorrow, actually. Our midterms are only 20%, and I have an A in the class now, so even if I get a 50 on the exam I'm still pretty much okay grade-wise. :smallwink:
The only exam I really do think I need to study for is math, actually. It's my least favorite subject.
[/boring] :smalltongue:

Re: TwoBitWriter's Tubular Tracts of Thought-Talking Random Banter #111
Soooooo, I'm out for a weekend and this thread moves 14 pages? Wierd.
-
Re: TwoBitWriter's Tubular Tracts of Thought-Talking Random Banter #111
Join the club, Cope.
Although in my case, "out for a weekend" translates to "couldn't be bothered to catch up until the prospect was too daunting."
When the thread is born anew, I'll be better prepared.
So, who wants next? I vote CP.
And while I'm voting: I vote next avatar week is Steampunk Week. Any seconds?
-
Re: TwoBitWriter's Tubular Tracts of Thought-Talking Random Banter #111
Well, good luck Sir Sneaksalot. That mathes is a tricky mistress.
Steampunk week is a pretty nifty idea, Rutskarn. Calling her CP, however, still reminds me of... unfortunate implications.
Hmm... Coplantor, if you ever get the chance, you should see the movie Milk. Something about that picture of yours reminds me of one of the characters from it...
-
Re: TwoBitWriter's Tubular Tracts of Thought-Talking Random Banter #111
Steam punk week! YEAH! That would be awesome in ways most mortals cant even dare to start dreaming about a way to imagine themselves thinking about it.
-
Re: TwoBitWriter's Tubular Tracts of Thought-Talking Random Banter #111
Welcome back Wolfsbane. I'm sorry about your family problems , but glad to see you back in the shipping thread.
I second Steampunk week. It was suggested before but never happened.
Whenever I see Cobra's avatar I want to edit it to look like the monster Rutskarn described.:smalleek:
EDIT: We'll have to fight Alleine's food week.
-
Re: TwoBitWriter's Tubular Tracts of Thought-Talking Random Banter #111
Do it! Do iiiiiiit! =D
Also, Poison can have the thread...if...she's here, I guess. If she even wants it?
*snuggles...someone*
-
Re: TwoBitWriter's Tubular Tracts of Thought-Talking Random Banter #111
Milk... what is that movie about? Can you promise me I'll enjoy it? Eh? CAN YOU?????
OK, ok, relax.

I'd love to do a steampunk week. As long as we have a Cyberpunk week afterwards.:smallamused:

Re: TwoBitWriter's Tubular Tracts of Thought-Talking Random Banter #111
Hmm. So apparently when my hat got stolen it ended up taking on essence of woman and cinnamon.
So I ask myself, why cinnamon? What could it possibly have absorbed to take on the scent of cinnamon. Usually it just feeds off of my soul in order to give me power. Hmm...
So yeah, my hat got stolen and I just finally got it back from the girl who nabbed it. And it smells like woman and cinnamon. Usually it smells vaguely canine and of hardboiled detective.
Cake week is a tough thing to beat...

Re: TwoBitWriter's Tubular Tracts of Thought-Talking Random Banter #111
Steampunk? Cyberpunk? Pffffft, if we're doing this we're doing it right... Cthulhupunk!
@:Da Cobra man!- Yeah, I told myself to relax, is one of the most common situations in wich I talk to myself.
-
Re: TwoBitWriter's Tubular Tracts of Thought-Talking Random Banter #111
Steampunk week? YES.
I'm sorry, Steampunk week?
Hell. Yes.

Thanks! And yeah, Steampunk week sounds good. Someone want to make a thread for it?

I think it's a biopic about Harvery Milk.
Also, has anyone else noticed Google's new...uh...whatever those tiny images next to the address bar are called? Or am I just going crazy?
And yes, Poison can have the thread if she wants it. I've already got my thread. A looooong time ago. :smalltongue:
