Imagine Genghis Khan.
Now imagine that he spends most of his time indoors, with nothing to do except make a grander kingdom for himself.
Now imagine that he's devilishly handsome.
You get the picture. :smallwink:

@Rain Dragon Been there, done that. And it appears I have one offer, at any rate. Also, I was thinking of doing an archer based fighting style, based on the longbow. Would you mind doing something based off the recurve bow, maybe? Only other bow type I can think of.
@SamBurke: So, like, infinite progeny.

Enough to marry every country, at the very least. I mean, 26? Piece of cake. Tumberink needs to get *rid* of these kids, remember? :smallwink:

Actually, just sent you something regarding that, Rain Dragon.

Do you think I could get, like, the most beautiful princess for Cedrik? Since I'm first in line and all? :smallwink:

Hey, Morph, working something out with Rain regarding this, but in short, Kynvessa wouldn't be giving up her rights as Heir to the Throne of THorns, Yuuhi wouldn't become Thornking, and one child would go to each of us so we could keep playing our nations.
Is that acceptable, or is this a hard rule without regard for what the terms of the marriage are? :smallconfused:

See now, I had other imageries in mind but this one works better. Although handsome is incredibly subjective...
Hence my joke on your family tree being too unmanageable! :smallwink:

Tekorva are also longbowmen, but use composite bows. Would the occasional use of an arrow shelf be different enough from yours? Also, though horses are not all that abundant archery from horseback with smaller horn bows is common among the aristocracy. I could write about that instead of the Scouts.
So if you're a nation who value archery, do I have to race you to the compound bow? :smalltongue:

Indeed! At least, we hope. Depends on Morph's answer to my question.

Re: EMPIRE! A Community World-Building Tale of People & Discovery
Nah, I've got other things in mind. You are welcome to the recurve. And, actually, with the new style I came up with, I probably won't make something based on bows; if I do, I'll make sure there is no conflict between us. And we value ranged weapons, not necessarily bows. :smallwink:

Hmm, I'll think about the recurve. Well, I don't think there's conflict at all unless conflict means something I am not thinking of.
We value archery very highly and it's actually going to be one of the constants planned in my region. If you want to write all there is on archery I can focus on the fighting styles with our katana because that's also going to be a constant.
And capoeira. Yay capoeira.

Re: EMPIRE! A Community World-Building Tale of People & Discovery
It should probably be noted that Horse Archery is almost Crima's hat, though they primarily use something more closely resembling a reflex bow. They also still use iron arrowheads in spite of their access to Mithril: Iron is heavier and thus hits harder, plus mithril is expensive and arrows can be hard to recover.
I might talk a bit about horse archery if I get around to writing the in the arms manual, though.
-
Re: EMPIRE! A Community World-Building Tale of People & Discovery
Archery is all you, Rain Dragon. I'll focus on improving the two I've got, maybe something with a scimitar.

I'm definitely not trying to take your spotlight! I'll only mention horse archery as a game among those who can afford the horses of the region. They're not really very widespread as the region is not the best place for wild horses.

Ah, thank you. You can write about it as well if you want of course!

On another note, being inspired by zabarot's Codex, I'm planning to do something similar, but then with combat styles. Unarmed, longsword, kusarigama, a fighting style with coins (looking at you Guilder), you name it. If you can think of a weapon plus a style that would fit your country, type it out! My plan/fluff is to let a small group of Kasumori bladepriests travel over the world (as a great project) to make a compilation of the huge complexity of the fighting styles of the world. Kasumori are very interested in prowess after all.
However, before I do this, I want to gauge the amount of interest in such a project due to the similarities with zabarot's Codex. I do not want to drag people away from his project to mine, that would be mean. So who would be interested in joining in for such a venture and typing out a few martial styles?
It does sound interesting, but the Ashenites don't have a particularly interesting way of fighting and I'm not really good at describing fights either.
I suppose I can give it a go anyway.

There are the twins, Zhela and Kateline. They're in their early twenties still.
That said, is there anyone else who desires one of their people to marry a foreign princess?

Having seven children and having all of them survive until adulthood is an accomplishment in the times before modern medicine.
That said, I've married off three of my princesses already, so I've only got two left.

One of them sounds like an ideal match for my heir's discontented twin brother - who's second in line from the throne. Give him a pretty wife and an ambassadorship, and he should quit being unhappy about not being heir.
-
Re: EMPIRE! A Community World-Building Tale of People & Discovery
@Elemental Well, Lord Cedrik is taken, at least until SamBurke responds. But there is still Nathaniel, not to relegate you to less important family members. And Blade, any interest in that marriage proposal?
EDIT: I call Kateline.
EDIT Deux: Actually, on second thought, I would marry Lord Cedrik to one of your princesses, Elemental. But, SamBurke, If you'd like, you guys can compete with dowries. :smallwink:

That's Varel right? Well, he probably won't stop being unhappy about it, but it should stop him causing trouble as he'll be on the other side of the known world. I promise to lock him up should he start causing trouble anyway.
Next turn I'll arrange the marriage between Princess Zhela and Prince Varel.

A dowry competition is it? Well, that won't end badly...
In any case, I'm alright with less important family members. Next turn, I'll arrange a betrothal between Princess Kateline and Nathaniel

Re: EMPIRE! A Community World-Building Tale of People & Discovery
There are two unmarried princes from Celero. Though, Andust is kinda trying to pair one of them with Leona from Kasumor if he can't marry her himself.
-
Re: EMPIRE! A Community World-Building Tale of People & Discovery
He's been married three time already, as well as having an illegitimate son, and now you're thinking of marrying him to someone twenty-seven years his junior? I don't see this ending well for anyone involved.
Edit: Wombat... Did Lyra and Korath ever have that child? I'm just asking because I would like to add the child to my family tree.

...clearly one of those princesses must be a witch. To find out, one must tie her to a rock and throw her into the river. If she drowns well... she's not a witch. If she floats however, burn her at the stake!

You know, it's a fairly major problem if Lyra is still pregnant...

Stillbirth is a thing.

I'm roleplaying the character as he's evolved. He's not exactly above selfishness, but he also wants the best for his kingdom.
Besides, stranger things happened in the real middle ages.

Well, he's no Henry the VIII... Yet! He seems like a nice guy, just... has lapses in judgement sometimes.

Well... I suppose it's a possibility. In the old days, in such cases their child would usually inherit from both parents. A major exception I can think of is the case surrounding Charles V of Spain (II of Germany). He married the Queen of Portugal, but his son did not inherit Portugal, and half of his territories went to a brother/cousin/nephew (idk exactly) instead of Philip II.
If the two of you have different succession laws, it's a possibility, I suppose.
