Re: OotS Style Art/Fanart Showcase VI
Is it's light no visible enough already? :smallconfused:
-
Re: OotS Style Art/Fanart Showcase VI
It's not that it's not visible. It's because I think it'd look better if it weren't covered at all.

So get rid of the thingy on top of the glow then? Sorry for being so questioning but it's late and I've not had a decent amount of sleep for a while.
-
Re: OotS Style Art/Fanart Showcase VI
Yeah, basically. Though you should be able to just select the glowy part and hit the Home key to send it to the front of everything else.

Just a quick break to announce:
The IA Contest is baaaaaaack!

Great coloring and pose
What kind of weapons is are those?
Ren is not a girl! :smallmad:
He just happens to have pink in his color scheme. :smalltongue:
His weapons are machine pistols with long blades that he hides up his sleeves...somehow. Aside from the sleeves part, it's actually the most practical weapon in the show, in that a real version could theoretically be created.
Oh, and Cuthalion says he isn't satisfied with this, but I figured I'll post his latest creation...

Noraaaa! Queen of the castle! (that's a rook on her head, btw)
He forgot her grenade launcher.
Also, since you don't know the source, and I will shamelessly promote this show every waking moment, the show is RWBY.

Just, the legs... and the hair is not easy to draw well.
On purpose. The reference image had it in a weird position. I decided against putting it in.

I like it, she looks so happy and cheerful  The legs on the other hand will take some getting used to, I've not seen them done like that before.... other than the last post you made... *cough*

I just decided I'm doing legs on the set from this show. It does add to the look.

It sorta clashes with arms a bit, though.

Re: OotS Style Art/Fanart Showcase VI
While bored in class, I remembered that the school computers have GIMP installed. So, on a whim, I decided I'd try to make an oots avi in it. Sakura was my victi- test subject for this venture.
It went better than I suspected, but I think I'll stick to Inkscape. :smalltongue:

Was this your first time using gimp to make an OotS? If it was, that's pretty dang good. If not, it's still pretty dang good :smalltongue:
-
Re: OotS Style Art/Fanart Showcase VI
Yep, first time... drawing anything in GIMP actually. I don't do the whole draw things by hand thing. It's especially painful with a mouse. :smalltongue: So thanks!

For a first time, you did spectacular
I don't do the hand-drawn thing often (on the computer anyway) but I did do this drawing (and coloring) using only the pencil tool in MSPaint - the Windows XP version :smalleek: That was a pain seeing as there were only three undos >_<

Honestly, the fire looks strange. I always thought overlapping outlines of fire look off. Rather, you can eliminate the outline and make it slightly opaque. Would you like an example, or do you understand, more or less?

I understand, but would appreciate an example - I stink with fire and definitely need to improve.

Here are three popular ways.
http://img21.imageshack.us/img21/3603/xl5j.png
The center one I use- though the red is redder than I would like. That one is made with just taily pencil tool lines, no outlines, outer yellow, middle orange, inner red. The others are the same, Red- orange yellow, but one is blurred. You can add an outline to the red, but I don't think it looks quite as good.
I just started using the middle one, really, after I examined the latest comic for a while. I'm still not quite sure about it, but it's my favorite solution I've seen other than Crimmystuffs. Such as Lateral.

Goblins, fire, and words! What can I say, these buggers are fun to make :smallcool:
I'm still working on it, I'm trying to make a half-decent banner.

Spoiler
Show
*not enough goblins*
I'm still working on it, I'm trying to make a half-decent banner.
Vincent the white draconic sorcerer of the arboreal wind, would be disappointed. You're one goblin away from having enough to go bowling. You can probably tell why Vincent doesn't come up very often.
I would do an avatar of him, but I've done enough white avatars for now. Although it would probably be the last for a really long time, but an avatar with a white robe sounds boring, especially one without any armor or fancy clothing features.
I quite like the piraty looking girl in the back row.

Oddly enough, I just started making a vampire goblin :smalltongue: I'm having a bit to much fun with them!
I'm glad you like her

Oh good, now all Vincent needs to do is find an evil cleric to pay to cast resurrection on them until the game is over or until they run out of constitution.
Edit: Vincent would go kobold bowling since they are so abundant near his tower, but they do things for him for free. Things like dig holes, and give random free gems.

Re: OotS Style Art/Fanart Showcase VI
Lookin' good, gurgleflep. Those goblins are pretty sweet!
I finished the counterpart to Team Depth-Perception, affectionately dubbed Team Iron Man. They consist of a jelly-haired Tiefling and an androgynous Elan.

Is it bad that kobold bowling sounds fun? I wanna play it!

*Tiefling and Elan*
I quite like your tiefling's hair and pose. As for the elan, I like his pants - I'm not good with compliments, but these are meant to be compliments.
I just noticed a pixel between the tiefling's legs though - just one little black dot and it's gonna bug me D:
Glad you like the goblins
On that note, I've made an update (a vampire and an aquatic goblin woman, plus a few minor changes) and plan on making a signature banner out of it after some more adjustments - I didn't do good at wording that before.

Well, if you ever go out partying with Vincent be sure to check how chaotic evil/psychotic you are afterwards. He will show you a good time, but everything gets progressively more evil. Blowing down a village for little to no reason is usually a wake up call, even for other evil characters.

Hope this works! Got an idea from strip #916 and went through Trazoi's Inkscape tutorial to give it a shot.
