That's a new theory?

No, the Spark is the result of a failed attempt to create Cave Johnson. It took the universe quite a few tries to get the formula right.
Stop flirting, Castle!!!
Cave Johnson here, we have a slight problem. Turns out that nineteenth century Aperture is actually mad science aperture. But don't worry, you can recognize Spark Johnson by the fact that he's totally mad and constantly makes inventions that should not work but still do. We're done here.
I vote 'C'.
Yeah, I'm definitely going to have to go for C.
Mmmm, tasty meat creatures.
I have a theory: do you wonder if Klaus intends to lose this fight?
Let's assume that Klaus is still under Lucrezia's control. Klaus commands what is likely the largest, most powerful army in Europa, and his rule essentially depends on his military might.
If Klaus loses this battle and the Castle squishes his army, then the continent will fall into chaos and there will be no army capable of opposing the Other's legions.
The Other doesn't have any legions unless Klaus gives her them, so no, I don't think he's intentionally trying to lose this fight. I think he didn't expect Agatha to fix the castle as thoroughly as she did, is all.
Probably true. Or Klaus wants to lose the fight because he would rather let his empire fall and Europe fall into chaos than let it fall into the Other's hand. But that's unlikely either. While he knows he is in the hands of the Other, he also thinks Agatha is the Other, so probably he is really about to destroy Mechanicsburg. Also, these are probably his weaker units we see being destroyed, and he still has some things up his sleeve. It will be a tough fight even for the Castle.
There's these ladies, plus about a zillion slaver wasps.
Thing is, he could have destroyed der Kessel if he'd just acted sooner. But he opted for this "capture Agatha" strategy, which his generals warned would commit virtually every unit under his command. Units that are now being fed into a meat grinder.
"Units that are now being fed into a meat grinder."
Most units being fed seem more of evil kind, eg "Citizens/Tasty meat creatures"
So a bit like how Klaus sent the scum betting on lives outside Kestle into Kestle.
It feels like both Klaus and Gil are in their own ways are only pretending to try to "win". Both could have used overwhelming force. Instead they handicap own side.
According to Klaus's storm king story, the wolf under control of the witch needs to be killed.
Good point about Lu's available armies... but then, she did refer to Klaus as "too good a piece to lose."
Interestingly, he appears to have switched to the "capture Agatha" approach abruptly after Boris informed him Agatha isn't always the Other. (And, in fact, that this is related to the locket he repaired and brought to her.) I personally suspect this is a desperate effort at resisting Lucrezia: delay to give Agatha time, and/or get her up there where she might be able to override.
As we found out while everyone thought Klaus was dead, there is a large force on the way to Mechanicsburg from Strumhalten that is wiping out or sucking all opposition in its path. I would imagine this is all the monsters that were there, every revenant in town and the forces Klaus had containing the city, and perhaps the Geisters. And that the leader is 'Anevka', since you'd need the Voice to control all these elements. If so, that explains why she's not riding herd on Klaus, and how he's having such freedom of action. It might also explain why he's brought in every unit he's got; he has a plan in which by the time 'Anevka' arrives he'll be dead or disabled and Gil will then be able to use those collected forces to smash 'Anevka's' and maybe her, as well...
Man, I get the feeling the castle is kinda euphoric right now. It is almost BUBBLY as it smashes things. Too be honest though, I have to wonder, just how much of the castle is back online? I mean, when it was just the dyne generator he was saying it could be YEARS before any of the fun toys had the power to be used. If all it took was a 30 second series of lightning bolts to the face to recharge it, it just seems a bit anticlimactic to me.
Yeah, but if it replaces the power he would have taken YEARS to replenish otherwise, it just feels a bit cheap. Im hoping that he basically has the power to do what he is doing now. Manipulating the very town to crush intruders, but not enough to start busting out the super weapons. Maybe get the torchmen out to take down the various air forces. Mechanicsburg becomes a sealed off town you cant enter and survive, and you cant send anything into it from the air either. I bet those iron vaults and whatnot have already handled the mecha narwhals too.
There is a HUGE amount of energy in a normal lighting bolt (5 billion joules). The super bolts pack a lot more.
Bah! Every mad scientist knows that lightning contains 1.21 gigawatts!
Ah, but remember the criminally inefficient energy transfer system for the water wheel. Whoever did THAT wasn't an engineer, no matter what sort of Spark they might have been. It's no wonder it might have taken years for the Castle to recharge. On the flip side, Agatha not merely called down the lightning, she called down the lightning in the midst of a VERY powerful storm, as we've been seeing. The amazing thing wouldn't be if the Castle was recharged, it would be that it was able to absorb that much energy all at once...
You win an Internet.
On admittedly scant evidence, I suspect the lightning collectors might be relatively new. Wooster refers to some significant development regarding Castle Heterodyne in 1677. He gets interrupted and never says what it is, but it seems to have been just after the war with the Storm King. I think the Castle personality seems to be older than that, so maybe...? *shrug*
"Okay, all the various amusing traps I have are working, let's do something about this invasion, hmm?"
So. . . . how did the castle summon lightning? Is Gil the reinventor of something mechanicsburg already had at some point?
Agatha probably did that. She must have warned Der Kastel ahead of time so friendly forces could clear out.
