Re: LGBTAitP 26: No Time For Snappy Titles
I don't normally go in for that sort of thing, but Thorki is definitely an exceptional case. A yummy, yummy exceptional case. It doesn't help that I have a thing for lightning and manipulative schemers with unique fashion sense.
Oh and my parents use a bizarrely redundant decision system where if one of them is convinced of a position, and the other is not, the opposing forces pull them into a net agreement on a position somewhere in the middle as they both seek to enforce their divergent view, realize that enforcing their contrary positions is an untenable prospect, and average out to a uniformly enforceable consensus that's a medium between the two.
Unfortunately, should they both agree, they mutually reinforce, exchanging between day-to-day enforcement of the consensus through constant, unrelenting proclamation of that opinion and the arguments in its favor, and the kind of absolute ideological inflexibility usually associated with brick walls. Needless to say, they are pretty near the last people to whom I'd come out.
As for being thrown out, I've no personal experience or familiar tales with that theme, but I agree with the conclusion. Always is a long time, and covers many contingencies, and while human stupidity may be infinite, I'm not sure about love.
And now I've depressed myself with my own misanthropy. Blargh. Ignore me. I keep trying not to give in to my natural cynicism, but it never works out quite as well as I'd like.
Oh they're giving out free kitty ears? I'll join up for that.

My mother said it in anger. We were arguing because she didn't like my ex (when we were dating, less so now). I came back home anyway because I'm bigger than she is and you can't really kick a minor out of the house without getting in trouble with the cops.

Ahahaha! Ha! Hahahaha! *snort* Oh man, good one. My mother is definitely the head of the household, being the only person who isn't scared of my father. As is her mother, who, despite not moving very fast or hearing very well, and having a brilliant adorable-old-lady disguise, is about as easy to bully or make go along with things as Samuel L. Jackson is.
Right-o. Point in fact, I think 'house patriarch' has never panned out in any household I've seen. The ladies of the family always have all the political power.

It seems to have disappeared. You can usually find a host of names just by searching e.g. "visigoth names".

Thanks! I gave the first one a good look through, but I didn't really find anything that stood out. Although, when I saw Phoebe, I immediately thought of the name Phoenix. I've always loved that name, and the symbolism of rebirth would be really pointed, but the problem is I've always considered that a name (or title, such as for a business of something) that one has to earn, so I'm not sure I could take it for my own.

Gisela is a nice name.
So I looked up German names on here, and I have to say, all the ones that are easily recognizable as German (meaning that English hasn't absorbed them into common useage) are really :smallyuk: . At least to me.
Gisela's okay, but...it's not me. Thanks for the list, though. I'll have to take a look at some of the other categories.

This is kinda the basis of what I think my parents might have been thinking by theoretically disallowing me from being open about my sexuality. Because I never said I already was.

Yeah, that's why I'm not really telling my family anything. I never speak to ten! Last thing I want is for them to contact me more just to deride me. Well, on my Da's side. On my mother's it's because I fear my brother >_>

*Hugs* Thanks... My dad said he wouldn't kick me out if I "turned out to be gay", but my mom gave him a horrified look.. And they're the kind of people that think transsexuality, bisexuality and wearing your hair at a different length than you're expected to are the same thing as homosexuality, so that's not exactly reassuring anyway. >.>
*Also hugs Supernerd and SiuiS* Honestly, I don't really care what my parents think of me, and I'll probably dramatically announce my bi/trans/polysexuality when I move out, but... Well, I have to live with them now. I catch enough flak for being a liberal athiest. >.>

I think my cat is transgender. Or gay. When I pet him he will, after a while, raise his tail and tilt it to the side. This is part of the female mating response.
Does anyone have experience of reparative therapy on cats?
