Yeah, but what does he stand for in the grand sense? He's trying to save someone's life, sure. But why? What motivates and drives him,w hat is his greater purpose?
The answer is: nothing. He currently lacks one. Which is the core of the entire conflict he just had with Hanno, someone who does have a clear driving greater purpose behind them.
Re: A Practical Guide to Evil
On a different note, we're getting close to the limit on thread length. Anyone have any clever ideas for the name of the next thread?

Either of these ideas work for me. I think Glyphstone's title its a bit better as "Terms and Conditions Apply" is a very late series in-joke, whereas fire always applies.

Since the story's close enough to the end that we're unlikely to reach a third thread, I'm partial to A Practical Guide to Evil II: Thread Empress Triumphant: May It Never Return. :smallcool:

Spoiler: Chapter 34, concerning Juniper
Show
Anyone remember when we learnt of... whatever it is that it is wrong with Juniper? I cannot for the life of me remember being told about it, so I'd like to re-read it, if possible.
Or is this something that, like so many other things, presumably happened in the inter-book time jump?

We can draw inferences - we knew pre-timeskip that Malicia had turned the entire general staff of the Legions into Manchurian Candidates, and Cat had asked Tariq to undo the conditioning pre-timeskip as well. It appears that freeing them from Malicia's control had side effects.
(that's C5-86: It Pours, and C5-Epilogue respectively).
