Re: The Post-Kickstarter Discussion Thread: Bask in the Afterglow
I came here specifically to post how amazing the Human-Wrestler is.
Edit: Also, Big Fish/Bigger Fish. Where's that summoning spell...

So very this! I love the Colossal dragon too.
Congrats on the 10 years Mr Burlew. Looking forward to the next x years!

Re: The Post-Kickstarter Discussion Thread: Bask in the Afterglow
Oh man, the human wrestler was great.
I also love the elemental and paraelementals. And the acid shark. And well, nearly everything.

Am I the only one who thinks the Eye of the Deep looks kind of cute done in OotS art style?

No Hilgya, though. Man, she not only got dumped by Durkon, but by the mini-release? Ouch.
Also, looking at the Fire Archons and Fire Elementals, I think we can safely say why Burlew's been upping his game on those fire effects.

Re: The Post-Kickstarter Discussion Thread: Bask in the Afterglow
I dig that the chameleonfolk's eyes are pointing in two different directions. And the ogre shaman with the dead lizard on her head is brilliant.
The vampiric ixitxachitl has a very appealing look.

Re: The Post-Kickstarter Discussion Thread: Bask in the Afterglow
I love the new set of A Monster For Every Season. The only complaint that I have is that the Linear Guild was missing Hilgya, Pompeii, and Yukyuk! (And Sir Scragley, of course...)
I use the minis from AMFES all the time in my Pathfinder Society Organized Play and have gotten nothing but positive comments on them! If anyone is interested, I have made a spreadsheet which organizes all of the critters alphabetically and identifies where they are located. Just send me a message of some sort and I will e-mail it to you.

Re: The Post-Kickstarter Discussion Thread: Bask in the Afterglow
Tortle Ninja is the best thing to ever happen to me.

Re: The Post-Kickstarter Discussion Thread: Bask in the Afterglow
There were many reasons that I backed the kickstarter - but I have to say that the MFES PDFs were not one of them.
Now a year on, I think that they're one of my favourite things! I love the detail on them, and the humour in throughout the sets. Just looking through them gives me ideas for adventure scenarios.
So thanks very much to Mr Burlew, for going above and beyond what he promised, and making such a fine piece of art. I'm looking forward to the others!

Re: The Post-Kickstarter Discussion Thread: Bask in the Afterglow
Pretty sure Kil-Kil is, as of this pdf, confirmed as Dragonwrought.

Re: The Post-Kickstarter Discussion Thread: Bask in the Afterglow
I love the Kooatowa. They're original creations, like Ricky Rouse or Monald Muck.
Also, the leftmost human male wizard with the grey beard and the crystal ball, what is he a reference to? He looks like I should know who he's supposed to be.

Blame the Table of Contents. It ran into the area for the Linear Guild, so I had to go with three Small, four Medium. Dwarves are Medium, but she's less crucial than Nale, Sabine, Thog, and Z, who were all members at least twice. That version of the LG never existed, by the way, because Z and Leeky were never on the same team.

My wife and I were discussing before it was released who the "breakout star" would be. It's looking like Tortle Ninja vs. Lizardfolk Human-Wrestler.
I think my favorite might be the Warforged Wizard, though. I picture him trying to be a wizard and not being very good at it, so he dutifully studies the most powerful wizards to find out what they have in common that he lacks. His conclusion? Beards.

I can see that. You need a beard for the whole LOOK of the thing.
;)

Wait until we get to the Eye Spheres, Brain-Eaters, and Mirror Image Beasts.

No specific reference is intended, but I did have loads of classic wizard paintings pulled up so there might be some influence you're seeing.

Re: The Post-Kickstarter Discussion Thread: Bask in the Afterglow
These monster minis are super awesome!
But looking at the list of things still to be done I feel kind of bad that we've gotten two sets of these while people are still waiting on crayon drawings and the like.
I'd be happy getting one of the Monster for Every Season PDFs a year (aim for Halloween next year!) and for those people to get the stuff they ordered sooner.

Warforged Wizard was totally one of my favourites, but there are just so many that are awesome it'd be hard to pick just one...

Re: The Post-Kickstarter Discussion Thread: Bask in the Afterglow
I could swear I've seen the right-most human wizard somewhere, too. The one with the yellow cap on his head, to be precise. But I guess I'm also just reminded of something because it's a classical wizard look.

I also like the Changeling Wizard. Just looks right, you know?

Well, he sure looks like the guy I'd call if I ever needed someone to mictifarcate my gilltooney.

Re: The Post-Kickstarter Discussion Thread: Bask in the Afterglow
I also like the halfling wizard with a couple of wands strapped to her backpack.
And I remember the goblin civilian from AMFES spring, who had a child sticking out his tongue. The kobold civilian in this one, with four kids, is even better!
Well done!

What "monster" race is Burlew going to make us feel guilty for murdering its civilians next?
(Also, is there a way to make that sentence both readable and grammatically correct?)

I kinda doubt you've played Borderlands 2, but I guess great minds think alike.

What monster race's civilians will Rich make us feel guilty about killing next?

Re: The Post-Kickstarter Discussion Thread: Bask in the Afterglow
These are amazing. I wish I was running a campaign now so I could figure out a way to use them.
Don't know if I had a "favorite", but the Tortle Ninja literally made me burst out laughing, so props for that.
Also, is anyone else struck by how different the lizardfolk look from any of the three or four body types we've seen in OOTS?
Others I really liked were the already-mentioned Warforged Wizard, the Dragonborn Wizard next to him with the little spectacles perched on his snout, the merrow wearing a dead octopus as a cape, and the Mummy Queen from SSDT making a cameo appearance.

Hey Giant! If you're reading this, I gotta ask. If at all possible, when you put out the next batch of minis, in addition to the 'Brain-Eaters' could you also make a mini for a Phrenic Scourge? I don't know if you're aware, but over at Pathfinder a 3rd party company called Dreamscarred Press is putting out a psionics book and one of their main monsters is the Scourge, since they're not allowed to use Illith--er, I mean, Brain-Eaters. :smallwink:

Re: The Post-Kickstarter Discussion Thread: Bask in the Afterglow
I love the mini's, also, Raistlin Majere got a cameo too, squee!

Re: The Post-Kickstarter Discussion Thread: Bask in the Afterglow
My vote for the Lizardfolk human wrestler as best monster ever.
