Um... no.
Thufir: Eh. You always look shifty :smalltongue:

Re: Serpentine's Travel Diary Thingo-Whatsit
I finally read it! I should probably have done that before meeting you, rather than picking up bits of goings-on from the UKITP thread...
-
Re: Serpentine's Travel Diary Thingo-Whatsit
Ah, but then you'd miss out on the element of surprise! :smalltongue:

Do you expect anyone who was doing so to actually admit to it?
(Also, I might as well actually get around to subscribing to this thread)

I follow this from the shadows, pouncing and leaping upon stray thoughts that wander off unprotected. Ohh yes, I am following this ...

Always and forever.
Phew! HOkay, the first page should be safe for you now, Grlump, and anyone else with slow computers/connections. Don't say I never did nothin' for you. Also, tell me if there's any broken or repeated or missed links.

Re: Serpentine's Travel Diary Thingo-Whatsit
I didn't get the job in Reading :smallfrown:
-
Re: Serpentine's Travel Diary Thingo-Whatsit
I'm sorry to hear that, hun. :smallfrown: I'm certain you'd have been great at it. Did you get any feedback from the interview?
-
Re: Serpentine's Travel Diary Thingo-Whatsit
They sent me an email saying they couldn't get onto me (I'm gonna check what's going on there), and that I should call them back specifically to get feedback. My dad says that's a good thing?
-
Re: Serpentine's Travel Diary Thingo-Whatsit
Yeah, it's always a smart move. It'll flag up any potential pitfalls or bloopers, thus increasing your odds at your next interview. Don't be too downhearted.
-
Re: Serpentine's Travel Diary Thingo-Whatsit
Yeah. I meant specifically that they're going out of their way to make sure I get it, though.
-
Re: Serpentine's Travel Diary Thingo-Whatsit
Oh really? Now that's interesting. Clearly there must have been something about you they really liked - if they didn't, they wouldn't be going to all this trouble to find you. =o

Re: Serpentine's Travel Diary Thingo-Whatsit
Then why didn't they give me the gorram job then?! :smallfurious:
:smalltongue:
Maybe they'll have another job for me to go for... That'd be pretty sweet.

Probably means you were only just outclassed by somebody else, they probably had at least a few other people going for the job...
-
Re: Serpentine's Travel Diary Thingo-Whatsit
Yeah, I know. Still sucks for me, though :/ :smalltongue:

Quite possibly this. They may have another opening coming up soon, or think you may be ideally suited for a related but different job they have open but can't offer you directly since they don't know all your personal circumstances.
Either way, get in contact with them soon.

Re: Serpentine's Travel Diary Thingo-Whatsit
After a lot of faffing about, I got the feedback:
"Mark was impressed with your interview and he confirmed that it was very close between yourself and another candidate. However, Mark felt that you came across in the interview rather reserved and feels your answers were perhaps not answered in enough depth. Overall Mark we very impressed with your interview and should you see any further vacancies for Tribal, we would be delighted to receive your application."
The "reserved" bit is a bit of a surprise - I was worried I was blathering on and stuff. The in depth answer bit is good to have reinforced, but honestly I'm not sure what I can do about that. Just gotta keep it in mind, I guess.
It's really gratifying to know that I was a very close second, though, and that they'd be interested in hearing from me again.

Re: Serpentine's Travel Diary Thingo-Whatsit
Updated, in a boring, whingy sort of way.
Also I'll be in Leeds tomorrow (Thurs 12/4), if anyone cares to watch me throw my resume at people.

An Australian-themed bar? How does that work, or shouldn't one ask?

Oh, you mean those Walkabout bars? There's quite a few of them in London and they have some of special recruitment policy for visiting folks. I think so anyway.

I'm abivalent whether it'd be awesome or a waste if I get a job at the very first place I go to... Can it be both?
Also: it's too cold and wet for me to tart myself up for the job search :smallfrown:

Re: Serpentine's Travel Diary Thingo-Whatsit
I'm sure Archie will join me in denouncing that filthy northern weather you are experiencing and invite you to come down south where the weather is...
*pokes head out the window*
.....actually scratch that. Has anyone got a towel? :smallsigh:
