Re: Paladin Academy: A Playground Inspired Story
I just finished reading through this and it is AWESOME, I was wandering if I could be in it at some point, If I could I would like to have a paladin power which allowed my character to have a greater understanding or control over nature, for instance: having an influence over animals, or being able to use nature to my advantage. If i can't have a power like that, the ability to smell/track and fight like a wolf or the ability to withstand great pain/stress without being effected (I would die at the normal point but not pass out as quickly and be able to ignore pain).
EDIT: oh yeah, can my speech be orange, and my name be licoot, if that sounds wrong can it be li
EDIT:Can I point out that on second thought I would probably prefer the wolf one

Re: Paladin Academy: A Playground Inspired Story
Just for the record, my discussion of evil me and Grim wasn't (completely) joking. Since people are trying to add plot.
Just in case I have a chance. XD
Hmm... Better name than Sonic Boom.
Sonoblast?
Aural Strike?
Audible Pain?
Deathsong?

Re: Paladin Academy: A Playground Inspired Story
On the topic of names for sonic boom, I think 'silent shatter' sounds quite good, or 'shattering sonar'

Re: Paladin Academy: A Playground Inspired Story
As I have no ideas as for good name for Viola's ultimate technique, I shall go right into speculation.
I am betting that we have seen the last of Grim for a while... While he is comatose there is little chance of escape, unless he manages to find a way to act even without his crystal, which I find unlikely. And even if he does, he is propably depowered by it so he is little threat afterwards.
Allthough if they keep him like that for long perioid and then they need to release him for whatever reason, I think he will be rather angry at the whole paladin order, but expecially at Viola in person. This makes "redemption" somewhat more unlikely, but I would not count it outside the realm of possibility yet.
All in all, interesting chapter again, Silver. Loving it as always

Re: Paladin Academy: A Playground Inspired Story
O_o. Wow. Can I be added to the cast at some point?
Power: In D&D terms: immediate action, close range, Dimension Door every 1d4 rounds, starting with self-only and rising to the point that I could dimension-door away your insides.
Speech: Umm...if I can select this, a darker color, like navy.
-
Re: Paladin Academy: A Playground Inspired Story
First Off, I like the name Shattering Sonnet.
Second, mazing work as always Silver. This installments are one of the few reasons I still frequent this forum.
Also Ajadea, don't worry about D&D terms. Just say you want teleportation and then explain your limits. We are far more free formish.:smallwink:

Re: Paladin Academy: A Playground Inspired Story
I noticed that, but really couldn't think of a better way to put it. Short range teleportation usable once every minute. Once activated, the ability is usable for 10 seconds (unless she's using the multiple-people-teleport power, which is different), then recharges for 30 seconds.
Timing:
Teleporting self/object in hand to somewhere in sight: instant, counts as 1 second of use (could teleport out of the way of someone else's sword strike).
Teleporting someone else to somewhere else in sight: 1 second
Teleporting herself somewhere she knows about but can't see: 2 seconds (could teleport herself next to someone who is invisible)
Teleporting someone else somewhere she knows about but can't see: 4 seconds
Using teleportation as a weapon (disarming, sundering, ripping out guts): 3 seconds.
Teleporting multiple others anywhere (100 people maximum): 1 minute, drains crystal for an hour to a week, depending on number of people sent somewhere else.

Re: Paladin Academy: A Playground Inspired Story
Nickname... man, this is a toughy.
Maybe... maybe Bill? :smalltongue:

Re: Paladin Academy: A Playground Inspired Story
Ajadea, that teleport power would lend itself to some epic fights scenes; leaping in and out of combat, sending other people in and out of the fight.... ooh, maybe even teleporting the person you're fighting. It would be like Nightcrawler on steroids!

Re: Paladin Academy: A Playground Inspired Story
I just figured out another thing I need to do this weekend. Since so many people want in, making a list would probably be a good idea.
Anyways, I went and edited part 1 very thourghly. I added in some extra details and fixed many errors that I found. I would like it if you all would read it and let me know if it seems much better. Afterwards, I move on to part 2, and so on and so forth.

Its much better, particularly because last time i read it i remember noticing several mistakes, and this time there were none, that i noticed at least, but it is also a slightly better read

Re: Paladin Academy: A Playground Inspired Story
Thanks Licoot.
Anyways, 1 more thing. After looking at several of your name suggestions, I thought up an idea for the renaming of Viola's ultimate move. If you don't like it, then I keep working on it.
But how doe "Shattering Shockwave" sound?

Basically. One of the things I imagined her (myself?) doing went something like this:
Stereotypical Big Bad Evil Guy: *standing in front of an oversized window* Hahaha! My plan is nearly complete! No one can stop me, especially not you.
Me: Fine. I surrender.
BBEG: *insert more evil monologuing* Wait what?
Me: I said, I surrender. I'll join you. *Extends hand, as if about to shake the BBEG's hand*
BBEG: *Falls for it*
Me: *teleports BBEG far away and very high up*
BBEG: *Goes splat on the ground*

Re: Paladin Academy: A Playground Inspired Story
Why not use a shortened version of that name, 'shatterwave'?

That actually sounds pretty good, I think it's the best so far

Re: Paladin Academy: A Playground Inspired Story
I'm liking shatterwave too. That gets my vote. Just going to re-read Part 1 as requested.
Yeah, the edited part 1 works better. It seems less awkward, it flows more effectively on the page.... screen!

It'll do. I definatly like it more than Sonic Boom at least.

Re: Paladin Academy: A Playground Inspired Story
Annnnnnnnnd... It's now Shatterwave in Part 22. And if you all stay tuned, a list of everyone who will be appearing will be on the OP. And there also may be the next exciting installment that is to come.:smallwink:

Re: Paladin Academy: A Playground Inspired Story
A name for chapter 13 could be 'Penny's first jump'.

This could be the start of a beautiful friendship! Now I just need ideas for the other parts.

The noise and clamor of the mess hall was more excited than usual. Many of the paladins were conversing with each other over dinner about the recent developments. Most were casting a glance at Viola once in a while. Viola however ignored them all. She just couldn't get worked up over them. Being pleased and happy over her accomplishment, she felt like a whole new person.
"So you're sure you feel alright?"
Kurama nodded to her.
"Of course! Nil patched me real good with his healing power. It didn't even leave a scar."
"Well that's good. I was feeling bad for getting you hurt in the first place."
"Yeah, but you still got Grim in the end. So it's alright."
Another voice at their table speaks up.
"Yeah, and I didn't get to see any of it."
Penny sat there with a pouting look on her face.
"You unlock your crystal and I was knocked out at the same time!"
Viola couldn't help but feel sorry for her.
"Awww... I'm sorry you had to miss it Penny."
Penny continues her ranting.
"Stupid Grim and his stupid powers and his stupid-"
"Hey! Stop criticising my Grim!"
The three looked around to find Lix with her tray of food looking down at them. Viola looked at her confused. Out of the corner of her eye, she could see Kurama roll his.
"Your... Grim?"
Lix sat down across from her.
"Yeah! Grim is such a great man! I hate it when people speak ill of him!"
Viola's mouth was open at this point, looking stupidly at Lix.
"Wh-What? Lix, he knocked down our gate and attacked us all! How could that be the work of a great man?!"
"Oh, Grim has his reasons. There had to be something he needed to do by attacking us. Maybe some secret elaborate plan to fool a villain who wants to kill us or something."
Kurama spoke up angrily.
"He tried to kill Mordokai! Lix, there is no plan! Will you please get over your school girl crush over him?!"
"It's not a school girl crush! I know that deep down, Grim has the same feelings about me."
Viola muttered under her breath so that only Kurama could hear.
"Those feelings will never see the light of day."
Kurama stifled a chuckled.
"Come on, Lix! Why Grim of all people? He such a meanie most of the time before he left. How come your so ga-ga over him?"
"He only seems mean to toughen us up. We would never get stronger without proper discipline."
Kurama spoke out to her with his hands cupped.
"Theraneous to Lix! He cut you along the back with his sword! How is that suppose to be training! He was trying to kill you!"
"Well, obviously if I had trained better, I would have been able to block it. Also, he didn't hit any of us in a vital spot, so he wasn't trying to kill any of us."
Kurama just slumped in his seat, as if to say 'She just doesn't get it'.
"By the way Viola, Mordokai wanted me to tell you that he wants you to go where Grim is kept when you're done with dinner."
Viola looked back at her.
"How come?"
Lix shrugged her shoulders.
"I don't know. He didn't tell me."
Viola nodded and finished her meal quickly before setting out. Kurama and Penny followed behind her.

Re: Paladin Academy: A Playground Inspired Story
Just read the cast thing. And the whole story again. I find it highly amusing that you seem to have made yourself into a dead character, Silverraptor
I figured Ajadea sounded name-ish enough for my character.

Re: Paladin Academy: A Playground Inspired Story
I like this story. You have my permission to put me in as a non-paladin character, cause I'm too me to be a paladin, know what I mean?
