Annnnd yup. The people who predicted Lucrezia would be taking over got it in one, this is absolutely Lu-in-charge.

The "dear" is a bit of a giveaway, isn't it?
We're never gonna get rid of head-Lucrezia, are we?

I personally hope she lasts a quarter of a page, but that seems unlikely. :smallfrown:

Re: Girl Genius XXVI: Madness is the best possible response
don’t they actually need Lu in charge the moment the extractor is switched on?

No that she can punch through the necklace’s block and fool Agatha’s friends I am more sure than ever that she can’t be staying. Because if they don’t get rid of her now, the comic looses its main character.

Re: Girl Genius XXVI: Madness is the best possible response
Yeah pretty much has to be the arc she gets destroyed unless our MC loses her body and has to run around as a clank for a while or something. Still wish she was just gone, but I guess "it worked perfectly she is gone now" would be an unspectacular end to that subplot.

Re: Girl Genius XXVI: Madness is the best possible response
We just lose one horcrux...we still have Zolcrezia & Clankrezia at the very least.
I can take a Tarvek doublecross, but I'm just so dissapointed if none of these high level sparks notice that she changed the function of the device until it's too late.
Someone...anyone...just hit her with a wrench.
I miss Von Zinzer so much. :smallfrown:

And aside from direct copies of Lucrezia there is right now a well organised network of people able to replicate her technology and add some improvements even.
And yes, Von Zinzer is one of the best characters in the comics. While Higgs is also very level-headed, he most often just sits back and observes the events feeling safe and secure (unless there is someone to beat up). Von Zinzer on the other hand is too invested in not-dying to ignore problems, so he gets things done in the most direct way.

Re: Girl Genius XXVI: Madness is the best possible response
Knock her out, Trelawney. You've got seconds, if that.

Re: Girl Genius XXVI: Madness is the best possible response
While Agatha seems a bit influenced, she's still acting fairly like her sparky self. It would be no surprise if the Profs were trying to play with the reader's head a little.

Well, here's hoping. But, no. That's Lucrezia.

Does beg the question of why she didn't break through any of the other times Agatha went into the Madness Place, but I suppose she did say her locket was playing up...

Re: Girl Genius XXVI: Madness is the best possible response
Anyone else suddenly worried that the device is now a mass downloader, so she can make even more people into receptacles?
-
Re: Girl Genius XXVI: Madness is the best possible response
This could be Lucrezia, but I'm not sure yet. Lucrezia has never been this good at pretending to be Agatha.
Whatever this is, I'm expecting that its role in the plot is a last minute complication to make the procedure interesting to read, but still something that will not prevent it from succeeding.

More likely to be something that does the opposite of what it is supposed to do: Extract/erase Agatha and put Lucrezia in charge.

Re: Girl Genius XXVI: Madness is the best possible response
It looks to me like Lu is leaking heavily, but not exactly taking control, just...exerting influence. That will make it tricky to sort out what bits of Agatha's brain to excise.

This seems to me like the strength of desperation. Agatha is MUCH stronger than Lucretia was prepared for. The locket is an obstacle that she was not prepared for. BUT... She's had time to learn and adapt. She has information that she MUST get back to her other selves, and she is scant minutes from being bottled and delivered to an entity who can very likely deconstruct her mind like a cheap toaster. I'd say she has motivation for an extraordinary effort, and enough experience to give that effort some traction.

I was hoping to be reassured that Lu was not in charge. Mostly because I'm just sick of it at this point.
-
Re: Girl Genius XXVI: Madness is the best possible response
I expect Lucrezia to commit suicide rather than accept being extracted and bottled for study.

She hasn't really needed to pretend to be Agatha, though, at least not *regular* Agatha--pretending to be Agatha when she's in the Madness Place would be a lot easier.

This reminds me of my co-workers:
Co-worker A: " Well, we've almost finished moving all these flammable bottles into the lab."
Co-worker B: "I would hate to have a fire dill..."
Co-Worker A: "Worse, a fire".
Co-Worker C: " Hey, anybody smell smoke?"
Co-Workwe A: " Not me."
Co-Workwer B: " Yeah, but I figured it was the cafeteria."
Co-Woker C: " Oh. OK."

I mean, I wouldn't want to have a fire dill either. I like to use dill because it has a nice, pleasant flavor, while fire dill just burns your mouth.

Re: Girl Genius XXVI: Madness is the best possible response
Just begone, Lu, or find something new to do besides going on a rampage and creating trouble for Agatha's friends.
I'm still hanging out to hear Lucrezia's motivation/how the Other was created and how this ties into extra-dimensional beings with hats.

Apparently, they are called Dreen.
Though who were they working for then...?
Another fun thing: assuming everything is historically accurate within the vastly different universe GG operates in, GG takes place sometime after the mid-1800s because Polka is a thing. I doubt this will come up, but its an interesting thing to put into perspective.

Well, there are some deviations in the political and demographic landscape of Europa, but the culture does have a lot of similarities.

Now I just miss Von Zinzer, the comic was so much better with him around.

Re: Girl Genius XXVI: Madness is the best possible response
Can we just take a moment to appreciate how Oggie's hat is? Seriously, that things with fighting over.
-
Re: Girl Genius XXVI: Madness is the best possible response
It would be surprising if Lucrezia didn't try and pull something, but it is also frustrating that she is.

Fire dill is all about how you use it: There are fire dill don'ts, and fire dill do's.

Re: Girl Genius XXVI: Madness is the best possible response
They say that it's important to enjoy your work but Sparafucile might be enjoying it too much.
-
Re: Girl Genius XXVI: Madness is the best possible response
My Italian's not brilliant, but doesn't Sparafucile mean "fires easily"? The Foglios sure love their puns.
