I think they're meant to be having a meeting to discuss the future of Maltak as a combined tribe. That's why Suyan says he's the "last" Bikta chief and why Melna is asking about the other chiefs in panel 5. That might also explain why Outrage Chief prefers to get stoned.
Of course, that doesn't answer the question of who cares. I thought the newspost during the rain said Mookie wanted to cut to the chase and skip all the politics and discussion, and now we're taking minutes from the latest orc town meeting.

Are you referring to her new position of leadership, or the fact that she is apparently a shapeshifter?
EDIT:Nvm, that is that Girl-Shintula. I honestly forgot she existed.

Hey, so am I the only one who thinks Mookie is trolling us with these newsposts?

Yep. Pretty uneventful weekend, as it were.
Man, when my girlfriend goes away for a couple of days and leaves me alone I turn into the most uninteresting nerd in the world.
If only he had mentioned metal I would've had a Newspost Bingo! :smallfrown:
Also: if Mookie handwaves any more frantically, his wrists are going to snap in half. Not that that's a bad thing.
Things handwaved recently
(1) Rheinholdt has to stay in Crone Mountain because of Magic.
(2) Suicide Orc cannot see Rheinholdt in or around his mountain
(3) Stoner Chief hands over Chiefdom to powerless Grench
I'm currently ignoring the Magic Rain arbitrarily washes away things because that's more like A Wizard Did It.

Hey, it's almost February and we're still in Maltak! Any bets on how long Mookie's break is going to be after this Arc is done?
-
Re: Dominic Deegan: Oracle for Hire, MK XXI - Death is not Maltak
It won't actually end. Callan will become annexed by Maltak and thus everything will occur inside Maltak from now on.

It's the increasingly arbitrary nature of that rain that's bothering me. Maltak needs all its power, except for whatever force is maintaining Hansi. Oh, and apparently the magic mountain is still fully operational too.
So far, the only explanation I can think of is that Maltak really, really hates orcs. Which explains a lot.

Re: Dominic Deegan: Oracle for Hire, MK XXI - Death is not Maltak
And would take my respect for Maltak up a notch.
-
Re: Dominic Deegan: Oracle for Hire, MK XXI - Death is not Maltak
Hang on - has Dominic also disappeared with the mountain? If so that's mighty suspicious and presents another viable theory. Dominic arrived on the battlefield to pick up his fiancée and to gain some extra juice for his new toy. The orcs really shouldn't have let him near a movable mountain that amplifies oracle abilities.

Re: Dominic Deegan: Oracle for Hire, MK XXI - Death is not Maltak
Remember back when this arc had anything to do with Snuggles? The Demented One does.

I almost forgot Snuggles existed.
I should be grateful that the recent strips didn't have Dominic and Luna (:smallfurious:) in them, but they were so boring that I couldn't bring myself to even care, let alone snark until now.
I also have to agree with what other posters have been saying. Why exactly did Stoner Chief make Grench his successor? Grench, who had three lines of dialogue in this entire arc and was utterly useless and comatose for most of it?
Just how strong is that stuff? And where can I get some? It + several bottles of Bordeaux might help erase this arc from my memory.

New Comic.
And they lived Sue-ly ever after.

I must say, Mookie writes senile pothead rambling quite convincingly. :smalltongue:

Re: Dominic Deegan: Oracle for Hire, MK XXI - Death is not Maltak
All things considered (including but not limited to the author) I actually liked this one. It's about time Thuen Gor had actual cause to be happy.

Re: Dominic Deegan: Oracle for Hire, MK XXI - Death is not Maltak
I liked this one as well, and found the "not that strong comment" a bit funny as well.

Partially seconded. I have a personal distate for weed jokes, so I'll let that slide. It's just me and not inherently bad.
BUT: Another character that got his flaws magically removed grates.
If I black out Adraks face, the strip is OK as far as DD goes.

I know! I didn't expect being brought back from the dead to have healing properties.

Re: Dominic Deegan: Oracle for Hire, MK XXI - Death is not Maltak
Why was his soul ugly, then? :smallconfused:
-
Re: Dominic Deegan: Oracle for Hire, MK XXI - Death is not Maltak
If I had a moving mountain, then I could probably answer that, Webox. Sadly, I'm not the Dominus Himself (tm) and thus prone to unknowingness and insignificance *sob*

That wasn't his soul in its pure form, it was a representation of his state of death. That's why Jacob was partially alive when he was in the Nakta, but fully healed when he woke up.
-
Re: Dominic Deegan: Oracle for Hire, MK XXI - Death is not Maltak
That was never really stated, was it? :smallconfused:
Also: By that logic, shouldn't Jacob's representation of his state of death have a hole in his chest?
-
Re: Dominic Deegan: Oracle for Hire, MK XXI - Death is not Maltak
I don't mind that he gets his scars warts ?missing teeth? healed, but getting a new hairdo + goatee is a bit much. He makes the second person I couldn't recognize in the last few days, even after I'd been told who they are.
The first was the former crone. The only thing recognizable about her was her lover.
-
Re: Dominic Deegan: Oracle for Hire, MK XXI - Death is not Maltak
I like how Outrage Chief doesn't get the slightest bit angry that Dominic lied to him about the DEATH OF HIS ONLY FAMILY. It shows that Outrage Chief is now Stoner Chief 2.0.

And even then, only when he was carrying his hukthak. Or hukthok.

To start with its not even sure he know that Dominic lied to him, as he doesnt have the same potion of information availeble to him that we do, and at the same time i can imagine that he is just happy getting his son back, getting angry with some random Callanian guy can wait for another day.

We can safely say that Dominic probably is now absent, on the grounds that everyone else has to explain everything to each other.
Dominic is the proto-talking head, and wouldn't voluntarily miss out on a collection of arbitrary decrees as dull as this.

Re: Dominic Deegan: Oracle for Hire, MK XXI - Death is not Maltak
...how stoned is the other Chief in the last Panel? Seriously.

Re: Dominic Deegan: Oracle for Hire, MK XXI - Death is not Maltak
Khaine, have you ever seen someone stoned? Because Stoner Chiefs face here is as close to acurately depicting actual expressions as DD is going to get.
-
Re: Dominic Deegan: Oracle for Hire, MK XXI - Death is not Maltak
Well, I am happy that Outrage Chief got a Happy Ending - but I kind of wish he was some way responsible for it.
I mean, did he do anything that meaningfully impacted the course of events in Maltak? The best I can think of is when he killed Jacob in a fit of rage - but that's more of a case of the plot advancing in spite of his actions.
Personally, I think all the Orcs should have just gotten high and let Dominic do whatever the hell he was going to do. Then the Arc would have been smaller, and without the killing :smalltongue:
