Re: Dominic Deegan: Oracle for Hire, Mk. XXXIII: DeeganBallZ
Aaaaand, the big scary claw hand thing turns into a Predator. Now if only we could get Arnold here to save us. Also, I called it, some sort of attempt to communicate. I bet he will spend the next arc getting his hearing back and trying to figure out what the heck the guardian was trying to say. (Most likely would be some form of " GET OUT!) but since this is deegan land it was, "Help me obi wan kenobi! You're our only hope!"

This looks unbelievably stupid.
Also, I'm getting Oracle Hunter vibes here. Maybe He-Dom will finally make a comeback?

Did... Did he get eaten or did the lobster yell at the damn kid to get off his lawn and Dominic did so? :smallconfused:

I've only watched the first 4 episodes of Ponydom, but I obviously need to watch more. Apparently Doctor Whooves makes an appearance.

Re: Dominic Deegan: Oracle for Hire, Mk. XXXIII: DeeganBallZ
I'm beginning to feel like I'm missing something by not watching My Little Pony.
That's...that was unexpected...
And unfortunately it looks like Dominic has contracted Espers Ear. It's what happens when Seers come into contact with beings millenniums beyond their comprehension. He'll be fine in a week, but he'll have to hear the creepy post-coital talk between Luna and Serk.
I bet it boosts his regular and third eyesight to unheard of levels, though.

You are. The episodes are all on Youtube, do yourself a favour and check out the first few episodes - at worst you've wasted 40 minutes, and at best you'll rediscover your childhood innocence.
And really, we've all wasted more time talking about Dominic Deegan.
EDIT: Oh yeah, bet for the day, a picture of Rainbow Dash and Rarity says that Dominic gets showered with sympathy and affection and nothing bad happens until he's recovered.

I love how he can still hear her questionmark perfectly.

Re: Dominic Deegan: Oracle for Hire, Mk. XXXIII: DeeganBallZ
I personally speculate that creatures from the Plane of Destruction are like Angry Marines. They communicate entirely in eldritch swear words so loathsome they make the ghosts of the hearer's ancestors catch fire in shame.
Being ghosts, this just annoys them a bit, but what are you going to do.

Ooh, intrigue me this does... I'm gonna wait until my boyfriend leaves before I marathon this. Thirty seconds were enough for his reaction to make me fear for my relationship :smallwink:

Heheheheh... I estimate he has about 72 hours left before complete bronification.
... Oh, right. DD. Amusing how Snuggly gets annihilated while Dominus is let off with a stern talking to. This new temporary deafness thing will probably be used for a few atrocious puns, a quick shot of DRAMA! and then discarded. Really don't care at this point.

ALL HAIL THE PONYMIND
EVERYPONY WILL EMBRACE OUR PERFECT COLLECTIVE
Man I want this to be all "Dominic, we can't get married if you're deaf! We'll have to see an alterist!"
No wait then it's a month of Dominic being a smug jerk and/or a stupid baby and Luna being great, I take it all back.
Well except for the part about how Luna is great.

Re: Dominic Deegan: Oracle for Hire, Mk. XXXIII: DeeganBallZ
Actually, chances are he'll end up just as addicted as the rest of us.
Friends I've infected with the MLPmania: 2 and counting.

Well, obviously he can sill discern basic sounds and facial expression, so he recognizes the basic (very basic) intent behind Luna's speech act - probably sufficient when dealing with her, maybe not so much in other cases.
Obviously, the explanation for this is that the mighty roar of the space lobster blasted his weakened, amputated projection as seen in yesterday's comic back into his body, meaning it - since in the Deeganverse, the physical and spiritual world sort of overlap - basically lobotomized Dominic by yelling at him.
Now, what parts of Dominic's brain are destroyed after this? Simple, just compare his mangled projection to the regions of the human brain. (Obviously, Dominion Apes are not human, but I assume some basic resemblance.)
Both legs are damaged and partly simply cut off. This is simple - his cerebellum is pretty much gone entirely, so say goodbye to motor control, and he's obviously missing a solid chunk of his temporal lobe, which is why he can no longer process language. There's probably a good amount of other things affected, but these would be the main parts, I think.
Of course, he is also missing half of his left arm, probably meaning some outer frontal regions of his left hemisphere are fairly squished after this little excursion. Now, I admit I may be going out on a limb here, but I'm going to say this may have damaged his frontal cortex and thus again impacted his ability to process language, as well as his capability to plan ahead and weigh the consequences of his actions.
Basically, his days as a puppet master are behind him, comic's over.

Re: Dominic Deegan: Oracle for Hire, Mk. XXXIII: DeeganBallZ
I admit it: today's strip was great. The first panel conveys the scale of the guardian very well, somehow, and I'm all in favor of gargantuan beasts chillin' out. The second panel shows the scale of the noise well, too, possibly because of the slight blur effect right of the mouth (!!) and the appropriate lack of a sound effect. Panels three through five feature Dominic getting hurt.
It's great.

Now I just need to figure out why my Bezier Curve tool's acting screwy and I can throw myself into full on emasculated nerdery.

Re: Dominic Deegan: Oracle for Hire, Mk. XXXIII: DeeganBallZ
This strip is SO pointless that I couldn't care less if it was completely blank.
-
Re: Dominic Deegan: Oracle for Hire, Mk. XXXIII: DeeganBallZ
You know what would make this strip awesome? If the hearing loss was actually permanent. There should be consequences for dealing with eldritch forces from beyond and destruction elementals after all. Dominic would be forced to either read lips or use his Second Sight to process conversations in place of normal hearing. Or maybe a magical hearing aid.
Best of all, every strip from Dominic's POV would effectively shut Luna up.
-
Re: Dominic Deegan: Oracle for Hire, Mk. XXXIII: DeeganBallZ
But a deaf Dominic would mean going back to the creeeepy alterists... I'm not sure how I feel about that.

Guys! Guys! Holy ****, guys!
Do any of you play Blood Bowl?
Because I was just traversing this one forum when, suddenly, I was like "Yes! Yes! Holy ****, yes!".
Why that? Because Neomics is releasing some new miniatures at...some undefined point in time (probably in the future).
Biker dwarves!
Coming soon (hopefully) to every Blood Bowl pitch near me: the Old Tuck Ballbusters. :smallcool:

Re: Dominic Deegan: Oracle for Hire, Mk. XXXIII: DeeganBallZ
Prediction: Deaf Dominic = Excuse for box-text panels and textless splash panels for the rest of the week.
...mostly I predicted that so that we'd have a week of disability "humor" similar to when Dominic went blind instead. Yes, that's the lesser of the available evils.
