Re: FdL's Fuzzbox-Fueled Random Banter #88
So, the job hunt is afoot. So far I've tracked three down. One will get back to me, one pretty much hired me, but since I can't do something for training, I can't work there, and the third is coming up. I have a good feeling that I'll get my pick of jobs.

@Atreyu: Yeah, actually I think football (yes, football, not American football) players are pretty rough and have an amazing endurance. Just because they're not continuosly pushing each other doesn't mean they're not rough.
Besides that, this topic of who is rougher is getting a little dumb actually :s
@Logic: Well, yeah, it bothers me too to see any sport player with hair that is too long or dreadlocks or weird things in their head. First because it's impractical, but mainly because I think someone who plays a sport professionally shouldn't concentrate so much on his looks. Everybody just wants to be cool-looking in this world, everything else seems to be secondary :S
So yeah, they deserve having their hair pulled. :smallamused:

Re: FdL's Fuzzbox-Fueled Random Banter #88
If you can't tell which sport has tougher players, you've probably never seen much of either.
But Calvinball still wins. I've seen far too many young lives cut tragically short by this awful 'game;' the rules are harsh enough (not that I or anyone else can remember them), but the inclusion of live, vicious tigers is just too much.
Anyone wanna play?

My sister just had a car accident...
Now comes the wait until I find out whether she is okay or not.

Man, that sucks. Hope she's alright.

Agreed, FdL, that's why we've agreed on Calvinball as the winner.
Hey! Lord Herman is in the "Wicket Sticket" zone, that means he has to be next to a wicket at all times until he smacks someone with the Calvinball!

Re: FdL's Fuzzbox-Fueled Random Banter #88
My sister's fine, just a little spooked.

Re: FdL's Fuzzbox-Fueled Random Banter #88
I realised something at work today. I don't know any of my colleague's names. I've been working there a year and a half. I have also realised most of them are idiots.
-
Re: FdL's Fuzzbox-Fueled Random Banter #88
What do you do? If you don't know any of their names, you must be fairly distanced from them.
-
Re: FdL's Fuzzbox-Fueled Random Banter #88
I work in the local library. I talk to them and such and get on with them but I don't know their names. They wear name tags as well. Oh well. I'll sneakily look when I'm back at work.

That's good to hear. The day I flipped my car at 80mph was not exactly a stellar day. Which is to say, I know how she's feeling. A little attention from a loved one can go a long way toward relaxing frazzled nerves.

You came out of it alive. I'd call that a result mate.
Glad ShadowSis is ok Shadow of the Sun.

Eh? How do you manage that? I think that degree of social isolation in the workplace is an achievement in itself. :smallconfused:

Perhaps it's normal for librarians. Y'never know.
MS: Do you live in an action movie, or was that a one-off?

Yes, that is on the top of a very short list of things that were good about that day.

I wouldn't say I live in an action movie, since I have yet to attempt to save the world with the help of a wise-cracking sidekick and an ultra-sexy, scantily-clad woman, but I have had my scrapes with fate.
Tell ya what; I could do without the sidekick, but get me the woman and I'll make a go of the "living an action movie" bit.

Aw, you made me wiki it (didn't get reference). I never read much of C&H. Probably should because strips is a genre I like.
@SotS: :( I'm glad she's ok.
Regarding co-worker's names, I find it a little odd. Especially after 3 years. I don't know what the job consists of, but if you've even talked to them I think you should have caught a couple names by now. Not even from listening to them talk and call each other? :P
When I began working at my current job I was really shy. I sat on my pc all the time I spent there, only to go to the bathroom. Then slowly I started bonding with different people. The coffee time helped. We'd get together and make coffee and have it, take turns to wash the cups daily and stuff like that ^^
Hmmm...When I first started there was this gorgeous (I mean swimsuit-issue-proportioned gorgeous) girl who worked there and usually came round midday. She didn't do much work, but still she took the time to be curious about me. She was nice (later I found out she was kinda slutty too). She often made my then young hormones boil.
Ah, memories. Where would we be without them...

Somewhat happier, though quite a bit dumber.:smallwink:

^Apparently, where I am now. How the hell did I get here? :smallconfused:

You know what's funny and compleatly off topic? The three-post rule now reminds me of the Game. :smallamused:
-
Re: FdL's Fuzzbox-Fueled Random Banter #88
Most people here don't play THE GAME. Now change the topic. *searches for topic*
*finds topic*
So, what do you think about chocolate bars? I quite like them but Cadbury's gone overboard with their choccie bar range. There's about nine different types of Milk Chocolate with ... Examples are Biscuit Centre, Turkish Delight, and a lot more. Anyone else annoyed by this?
-
Re: FdL's Fuzzbox-Fueled Random Banter #88
When it comes to chocolate for me I prefer the really dark 70-85% stuff. Which most other people seem to hate. Meh, more for me that way. My reason for eating it is it's healthier (it's what I tell myself at least)
-
Re: FdL's Fuzzbox-Fueled Random Banter #88
I can't stand dark chocolate. Evil stuff.
-
Re: FdL's Fuzzbox-Fueled Random Banter #88
Yeah, lots of choice does get annoying after a while. I want to be told exactly what to do, dammit!
Seriously though, I hate dark chocolate. Way too strong for me.

Re: FdL's Fuzzbox-Fueled Random Banter #88
Ooh, so I moved into the dorms. I live in a suite style are with three other people. We all have a bed area, a living room, kitchen, bathrooms, and a washer. But for some reason my room is twice as big as the others and has an extra little living area
Apparently I am living in the only dorm on campus where drinking is allowed... I haven't met my roommates yet, but there is a big beer pong poster spread over the living area. :smalleek: The university tries to put similar people together, but I got into these (read: the nice upperclassman) dorms when I complained about my initial accommodations.(they wanted me to live in the freshmen dorms:smallmad:) They are all communications majors, and I am a biochemistry/molecular and cell biology double major, so I'm hoping they don't do TOO much partying. :smalltongue:
I spent $700 on books today, that was fun. Apparently every department decided they needed a new edition of their book so no used ones >_< Seriously, I could probably use a calc book from 100 years ago and it wouldn't be any different... (I can understand the other science books)
Well, until I get my laptop (which better be soon >_>) I probably wont be on that much. Too bad there is nothing to do until Monday.

Re: FdL's Fuzzbox-Fueled Random Banter #88
That's a lot of money for books. I've only got to give a £25 deposit for college and I get all the books I need for my courses. And for three of them it's a lot of books.
-
Re: FdL's Fuzzbox-Fueled Random Banter #88
That is a lot for books. I'm glad I work in a library. No fines for me, or rental fees, or any cost at all, it's all good. It's only local government, if they've got enough cash to pay me, they can do without my fines. Which is good, as I once owed around £20 pounds.
-
Re: FdL's Fuzzbox-Fueled Random Banter #88
I've never had a library fine. Or, you know, got a Library card. I will soon though. I never got around to it.
-
Re: FdL's Fuzzbox-Fueled Random Banter #88
I got a fine for a book that I've had in my room since year 7 (about... ooh... 6 years). I just haven't payed it.

I have no sympathy.
