Suddenly the invisible enemy slashes at the 20 foot tall goliath. Avakuss instinctively strikes back then grabs so there was no escape for the puny man. "Not getting away!"

Foul and horrifying, the creature that you can now see constantly melts and re-forms, seeming to draw each shape from nightmares and dark tales. It maddeningly shifts through dozens of forms, including a dark blob full of eyes and tentacles. On top of the creature sits a humanoid skull.
The monster shoots a black ray at Adamant.

Grimacing as the black ray slams into him, and saps his strength, Adamant leaps into the air in response, coming down right next to the creature, his sword glowing with divine fury as he roars and lashes at the beast aiming to smash the skull on top.

Avakuss shakes his head, notices he is grappling Dannos and has Adamant swinging wildly at empty air nearby but within his own reach. "Come on, we're out of here. If you want to keep fighting me, come with me."
The giant goliath calls upon the powers of his mind. The three allies (in normal times) disappear in a flash, reappearing out in the tunnel around the corner out of sight of any cave dwellers. "Time to get out of here, go!"

Adamant focuses for a moment, and tries to soften a portion of the tunnel's ceiling further towards the creature, around 45 feet out, trying to cause a collapse, before he steps through the portal.

As Avakuss warns Rule of Three that the party is coming in hot, Adamant concentrates on magic, causing the top of a portion of the tunnel between the gate and the cave to peel off and fall. The collapse blocks the lower part of the tunnel, impeding but not necessarily preventing any pursuit by the monster. However, it's a double-edged sword, because the wind blows many chunks of rock and clay towards the party. No doubt the wind will eventually clear the blockage entirely.

As Joel uses his arcane might to end the madness that has descended upon him, Dannos realizes Avakuss still has a hold of him and stops struggling as Adamant drags Joel through the portal. "Let us never come back if we can avoid it, eh?" as he looks at the wounds on the overly large Goliath and realize he caused most of them.

Avakuss feel the end of Dannos' resistance, his healing, and the half giant's sensible words. The goliath keeps his grip and uses it to carry Dannos through the gate then releases him. Avakuss turns to face the gate. "Close the damned gate! Toss the key to the far side of the room, something!"

My light load currently is 1600lbs so carrying him isn't an issue. If I remember right the gate is only 10' wide which is an issue so I have to squeeze through. Hopefully there is space on the other side of the gate.

The party makes it through the gate and once Adamant moves away a bit, the gate closes.
Just at that moment, Joel forms a glaive of eldritch force and swings it at Adamant!

Adamant, with Avakuss' help, is able to pin the warlock and prevent the confused man from causing any damage. Between the two of them, they keep the warlock occupied for about a full minute and a half, untill finally, the madness passes.
Joel says "What? Uh ... sorry about that!"
Rule of Three sheaths his weapons and says "Alright then. Did you get it?"

With Joel apparently back to his senses, Avakuss reverts back to his normal but still towering size. He unslings the backpack he picked up in the cavern and holds it out for Rule of Three, waiting for him to take it.

As Adamant and Avakuss tackle Joel and hold him down, Dannos spins back to the portal as Three dismisses it. He waits patiently while the effect subsides and Joel becomes himself.
When Avakuss throws the pack to Three, Dannos keeps himself steady, cautions of any duplicity.
