I have. I didn't know quite what to make of it when I first heard it. The instrumentals were, for the most part, top-notch. Spencer seemed to switch between poppy, melodic vocals and death growls, which isn't really my thing. Best songs were probably Have a Blast and Make Total Destroy, with special mention to Erised for having a Petrucci guest solo.

By the way, have you seen this last.fm journal? So glad someone put the effort into deciphering the narration.

Re: Metal Thread VII: The Mosh Pit Don't Start 'Til We Walk In
Touching briefly on Agalloch, they're coming over to SF with a band called Taurus (Some Brazilian thrash band, which is a weird line up) in August.
Should be fun times.

Re: Metal Thread VII: The Mosh Pit Don't Start 'Til We Walk In
So Luca Turilli's new band brought out its first album. And it's somehow also called Rhapsody? These guys are in serious need of some new band names.
Also new Vintersorg album is out. And I just found out that Vintersorg was the vocalist for Otyg. My mind has been retroactively blown.

Ascending to infinity?
The band was called Turilli's Rhapsody, 'cause Turilli thinks to "Ascending..." as the 11° disc of Rhapsody, the ideal successor of "From chaos to eternity", so it's always Rhapsody again and again.
(IMO it's a lame excuse. :smalltongue:)

It isn't exactly like the band sounds different from RoF. I think the vocalist is harder to understand though.

Anyone else here who has listened to the new Gojira album?
I got mine today, and man, was it worth the wait or what? This might even top From Mars To Sirius as my favourite Gojira album. The title track, The Axe, Planned Obsolescence, Born In Winter... It's just filled with great songs. I love the album.
(I also love the T-shirt that was included in the bundle with the album, lol)

Re: Metal Thread VII: The Mosh Pit Don't Start 'Til We Walk In
that album was AWESOOOOME
almost as good as the new periphery!

Two Hunters is awesome. I think actually that Black Cascade is better, so check that out too, maybe.

i don't really like nile... even if their lyrics are cool they are a bit too "generic DM' for me and asides from old school death metal i don't particularly like normal death metal

Re: Metal Thread VII: The Mosh Pit Don't Start 'Til We Walk In
Alright, since things seem to be going slow, I'll tell you guys about a new (well, old) speed/thrash band I recently discovered.
Paradox. They have an awesome sound, kind of like early Blind Guardian, although recently they've been changing their sound, adding some progressive elements. Still, I like their thrash oriented stuff best, but that may just be personal preference.
Had anyone heard of these guys before? I only know because Ultraboris mentioned them in another review, and autothrall gave all their albums pretty good ratings, but they seem to be fairly unkown.

Listening to your first link, my thought was: "mmm... another band that does not have the reputation it deserves".

I'm not even a fan of early Blind Guardian, actually.

I know Mistur. They're pretty good. But then, folk/Viking is kind of my thing. And anyway, anything with Strom on guitars would be good.

Speaking of Ensiferum, their new album is due to be released next month. Should be pretty good.

Re: Metal Thread VII: The Mosh Pit Don't Start 'Til We Walk In
Definite death metal material with that. It's pretty hardline.
Just got into Janaza. Pretty heady stuff, especially if you look into the behind the scenes.

Can I help you? They're amazing. :smallwink:
That said, how can I reciprocate the courtesy?
Elvenefris is 2000, so I'll pick something similary old. Here you are, with some melodic black metal: Thy Serpent
