A. It was part of a Family Guy cutaway joke
B. Takes advantage of the relativity of the word "primitave"
C. Purple monkey dishwasher.
D. Was a Time Lord

Reviewing the article on Science Fantasy again, and I think that it fits the bill perfectly.

Yes, alright. So? A person from the future might watch, say, Star Trek, and say "Wow, that technology is really primitive!". That doesn't make Star Trek any less Sci-Fi for it's time. In other words, what qualifies as science fiction and what qualifies as fantasy may change as time goes on. Who knows?
And yes, science fantasy sounds about what you might call Plot 3.

The funny thing is - It could actually be. If you take into account that it may or may not be taking place in primitive earth (I may be wrong, but I believe he got at that in his notes somewhere) then it is entirely possible to consider it Science Fantasy.
And I'm not sure whether I'm joking or not.
The ring gives people nanomachines that drive them crazy?

Re: Avatar Battle Royale-Discussion Thread XXI: We're a Big, Happy, Dysfunctional Fam
I've pegged the subgenre that the plots seem to be heading in.
Spoiler
Show
"Science Fantasy otherworlds
Some science fantasies use fantasy worlds with the thinnest veneer of science fictional trappings, only distinguishable with difficulty from standard fantasy. An early example of this type is Eric Rücker Eddison's The Worm Ouroboros, nominally set on the planet Mercury, but a Mercury that is indistinguishable in any way from a fantasy Earth. This work may be considered a borderline case.
In Andre Norton's Witch World series, the fantasy world is excused as a parallel universe. There are a few science fictional elements in the earlier stories of this series, which are absent from the later novels.
Terry Brooks' Shannara books represent the fantasy world as the far future of a lost technological civilization."

The Hobbits are Newbies and the Shire is the Tutorial area. That's why everyone is surprised when they knock some self-procalimed 'Uber-leet" badass on his ass.
It's just RP heavy. :smalltongue:

I'd say it's pretty impolite to call a woman a whore as well. You chauvinist pig.

Not from me... for blobvious reasons.
But if Sinister would do a comic of the link in the previous post with X2 taking the role of Andy Shaw (and Brain as the other guy?) that'd be swell.

My sucky FI character thing:
Ah well, maybe I'll have a stroke of inspiration or something before FI starts to improve it.

Sure, I'll see what I can do.
You do mean a non-canon comic, right? Unless I'm missing something and Xartvye suddenly became a reporter.
