That's for object placement on the layer. Multple layers are different.
Apparently it helps when you're working off a reference, as you can trace it without moving the reference around. Also, some people make a layer for background, a layer for all the objects, and a layer for lightning effects.
I personally stick to one layer. >>

Re: ABR Discussion Thread XXXI - The Gift of Fish
i use a layer for background, one for foreground, one for people, one for another foreground, and one for text/speech balloons.
-
Re: ABR Discussion Thread XXXI - The Gift of Fish
I'm with Shades of Gray on this one. One layer for the win. No mucking around.
-
Re: ABR Discussion Thread XXXI - The Gift of Fish
Having multiple layers helps me delineate the amount of work to be done on a comic. I usually have Background, Layer 1, Frames, Dialogue as my layers. The recent map I made of Arcania has by far the most layers, almost a layer for each element type (Including rivers, different kinds of cities, and such).

Re: ABR Discussion Thread XXXI - The Gift of Fish
...I work on one layer.

Re: ABR Discussion Thread XXXI - The Gift of Fish
I use multiple layers. Makes things much easier, mostly because background/speech balloons don't get in the way of posing characters and such.
Generally I have 4 layers: Background, Characters (this includes objects as well, I just call it Characters anyway), Panels (frames), and Text.
-
Re: ABR Discussion Thread XXXI - The Gift of Fish
I never really bothered with several layers, just adds more work in my opinion.
I just group the background items together when I'm finished with it, same effect.
-
Re: ABR Discussion Thread XXXI - The Gift of Fish
Multiple layers are where it's at. I usually have one layer for the panels/background, and then one to two more for the background details such as grass, shrubs and other general background stuff. Then there's a layer for speech bubbles and another layer for text.
Then there are the characters, which tend to use roughly 15-25 layers each. I keep every part of a characters body on a separate layer.
-Hat
-Hair
-Head det
-Head
-clothes
-arm2
-body
-arm1
-boots
-legs
and so on.
My first few FFF:R comics had over 150 layers each. :smalltongue:
-
Re: ABR Discussion Thread XXXI - The Gift of Fish
I usually just have one established layer. Yeah it's not as neat as it could be, but I'm lazy.

Re: ABR Discussion Thread XXXI - The Gift of Fish
Right, given that Lying isn't in best sorts my options I believe narrow down to:- Play as Lying until his mentality overtakes him
- Recover the Silan unit from somewhere on the ocean floor
- Bring back a very old leader from the dead
- Convince a dead shaman to intervene where the living are having trouble
After #1, there's a follow-up that would also involve reviving someone dead for centuries, albeit a different someone to #3.
-
Re: ABR Discussion Thread XXXI - The Gift of Fish
I ususally use 3 layers. They are titled: "Background", "Characters", and "Dialog". However, if the need arises, I add in one or two more under "Effects" or "More Effects".

Hey guys, guess what time it is? That's right...it's shameless self-promotion time!
Xartyve2 and I are doing a collaborative webcomic (yes, another one). It's called Full Circle. Check it out.

Hopefully it's going to last longer than the other collaborative webcomic with the same concept and characters. :smalltongue:

I see ABR's finest and full circle. The two have different concepts (albeit barely) =/

They are both "Brain and Xartyve2 visit alternate universes", are they not? :smallconfused:

Full Circle involves no alternate universes. Merely different planets.
And there are many more differences from ABR's Finest that will become apparent later on.

Make your other live for a while, theeen start a new one!

One is. The other looks like they stay in one universe and go looking for a treasure.
Sig for shameless advertisement.

Different planets in Avbaroy's universe or another? 'cos there's something of an established populace to that galaxy to my knowledge.
Any votes on which route I should take for my FI involvement?

It's your character, do what you want.

ABR'S Finest didn't last long enough for us to notice differences between it and this "Full Circle."

Full circle takes place above water.

Different universe.

It's different, trust me. For one thing we ditched the rotating comics thing, and there are no canon ties to TJH.
