"I've never been much for books, but I can definitely help you. Not like I'm super-busy." Adir says, giving a smile and brushing Sakura's hand with his. "Whaddya wanna read anyway?"

"Yeah, sure. That would be great. You can pick where." Genevieve looks around at nothing in particular. "I wouldn't even know where to start." The mall is a confusing place for someone who hasn't been in the Nexus overly long and who came from a world without malls.
[MagMart]
Sakura's lips spread in a smile at his touch. "Nothing specific. It's just that things to read are everywhere. Books, stuff in stores, signs. I couldn't even fill in the membership form way back when I first came to Watchtower." The dryad's smile grows into a grin. "Besides, why would I give up the chance to have you as a teacher?"
Waldorf only catches Sakura's attention enough to earn himself a glance. She's rather focused on Adir for the moment, as is typical. Although, the card provides another excellent example of something she can't read.

Don't worry!
Amil came from a world without Nexuses or malls either. But she's been here for a while now and she's had plenty of time to adapt. Anywho!
"The people who work here are... kind of strange. I don't know if they're wearing masks or what but... well... You'll see."
Through the impossibly arched entry and into the restaurant!
It's an interesting crowd in here. Mostly normal folks but a few... unique... people as well. Those behind the counter are all wearing identical tattered yellow robes and pallid masks. And serving foods!
Amil gets in line behind what can only be described as a flesh ooze. It smells kind of weird. And it has oily black hair in strange places.

Boris gives a smile and a nod. "Farewell, then, Kara." And with that, he leaves.

The flesh ooze gets an apprehensive look from Genevieve. hat's a little... off, even for her. Well, to be perfectly honest it's all weird. Even the stuff that's not actually all that weird.
Well, time to eye the menu then. Some... odd stuff on there. "I've never even heard of most of this stuff." The witch says uncertainly. "Maybe the Deep One Fillet?" She knows what fish is at least.
-
Re: [Nexus] Mallside I: You Do Not Know the Power of the Mallside
[Carcosa Burger]
The ooze in front of Amil and Gene sloughs up to the counter and burbles menacingly, splutting a piles of coins onto the counter. The coins are collected and the counter disinfected.
Shortly there after a tray of food is dumped on top of the ooze and simply sinks into its bulks.
With another burble it slimes its way out of the store.
...
One of the 'floor slippery' warning signs is put up as an employee cleans the mess.
Amil steps forward!
"Hello. I'd like a Shoggoth Burger with cheese and bamhacon. My friend wants a Deep One Fillet. Oh! And two small fountain drinks."
What's the point of ordering large fountain drinks when refills are free? That's just silly.
A few minutes later Amil and Gene will be given their food!
Yay!

"I'll, uh, do my best then." Adir says, trying to take her hand fully. He gives a start at Waldorf's sudden appearance, turning to watch the man walk away. He begins, "Hey, what... hm." The stag reaches down and picks up the cards, using his fabulous Common-literacy powers to determine what they say.

Genevieve takes her food and gives her thanks to the person behind the counter. Presumably they head over to a table to sit down.
The witch unwraps her food and holds it up to her nose. "This smells sort of funny. I've never had food like it before. It doesn't even look like fish."
[MagMart]
Sakura gives his hand a squeeze before turning her attention to the newly acquired card. "What's that say?" She asks curiously.

Whoops! Better collect those crystal cucumbers while you still can, Maggy! They're almost certainly worth way more than some pickled vegetables and jam! Lucky you, these smelly geezers have no idea how much things are worth, right?
"Fudge, sorry. I'll get you all those things right away!"
Maggy reaches into his robe for a walkie-talkie, and immediately alerts stock clerks M through U that these especially esteemed customers would like to exchange rather expensive-looking shinies for some lame ol' pickle jars. Not precisely in those words, of course, for fear that the cultists might overhear, but his tone makes it quite evident that he's more than willing to take advantage of some old, dying men to make a quick buck.
"Will that be all, sirs?"

The high priest looks up, and his face is a grisly sight, all of his skin is puckered and wrinkled with bulbous growths peppering his cheeks.
"Please, be so kind as to pass on our message, we are not long for this world. Know that this group of men, all aged 27-35, have lived as the briney ones decreed, and been granted long and fruitful lives for it."
He bows once more, touching his head to the floor. With a rasping, wheezy rattle he says, "I am content.

"Well, for one, it didn't originate from a place in which ghosts were actually thought of as real, and for the other... well, Pac Man isn't something you're meant to think much about." Grace explains. "It's more just for entertainment, nothing serious. Give it a go, you'll see."
[Food Court]
"Well, that's part of the reason I do it; so you don't have to." He smiles and gathers up his helmet. "Well, it was nice talking with you, Aleph. I've got a few errands, though. I hope I'll see you around."

"Very well, then." Takara inserts a token and then starts playing the game. It doesn't take long for her to lose, though. "Hm. This is harder than it first appears." Takara looks to Grace. "Are there any games you like here?"

"It was nice to meet you." Aleph replies quietly, waving goodbye as the man walks off.
[Neon Coliseum]
"Well, I think I prefer the more modern games, as they tend to look nicer and be a bit more forgiving, though they're a bit more complicated to learn how to control." Grace says. "But honestly I deal a lot more with the business side of the arcade, so I don't know as much as I could." Typical Grace.

"It's breaded fish," Amil explains as she takes a bite out of her burger. Now that she's actually eating things it becomes very obvious that her mouth isn't the right shape for a human.
Om nom nom!
"They take the fish, dip it in batter, and then fry it. It looks like fish on the inside, believe me."
Or at least as much like a fish as a hunk of fish meat normally would.
Silly fish meat!
"So anywho, I'm going to be heading over to one of the places here that sells phones. Then put in an application for doing the networking and tech support here in Mallside. I'm pretty sure I can ace it."

The Neon Knight gives her a wave and sets off.
[Neon Coliseum]
"I guess I'll just walk around a bit and try them all out." Takara glances in the direction of a few light gun games. "What are those firewand games like?"
-
Re: [Nexus] Mallside I: You Do Not Know the Power of the Mallside
[Neon Coliseum]
"Firewand...?" The term confuses Grace until she follows Takara's attention to the arcade shooters, at which point she manages to figure it out pretty quick. That kind of extrapolation is what you learn when you're in her business, after all. "Oh, those? They seem to be pretty popular. It's a basic action game, based on combat with firearms. Enemies or targets pop up on screen and you have to shoot them before they shoot you. Every so often you change locations. I think you reload by pointing the gun- the firewand- away from the screen."
Grace glances at Takara. "To be honest, Takara, of the places I might have expected to meet you, I wouldn't have picked this one." It's not a question, but it's obvious Grace has a question in mind... but she really doesn't feel comfortable voicing it directly.
