Re: [NEXUS] MagCave V: Tilt Your Head, and the Thread Number and Colon Look Like a Fa
[Riss' Quarters]
Riss' reaction might be rather distressing to the pixie as well, seeing how the muse reached up to give a quick squeeze in return. It was only a moment later that she realized that might have not been the best thing to do at the moment given Aesop's current suggestions. Quickly folding her hands in front of her and clearing her throat, the muse tried to move along to the topic at hand. "I see. I'll need time. Around a week. Could be a little more." she said. Normally it would only be a few days or so but given the state of what she had to work with, she wanted to be absolutely sure that the final product was up to par. In fact, given the proper materials and enough time, she could just upgrade Magtok's relevant systems anyway and be done with it. If anything, the chrome cyborg would at least have more precise tools to use even if he didn't need them for their full potential.
"So, I'll need time to get it all worked out. Until then.. Um.." Well, I don't know what you should do until then. "I guess.. Do what you want?"

The pixie mutters under her breath. She oughta spear that stupid nereid, mutter mutter. "Oh, that long?" Mimi looks disappointed, but brightens up quickly. "I'll hang out here with you then." Yes, this is the best plan. "I'm gonna have to go, er, do a thing, but I can mostly stay here."

Cassius is unable to hide his surprise at the suddenly speech, even though he admits he should have expected it. He knows his mother could feel his shock, so he shuts down his link to the Hive for a moment. Let her worry. This was a private matter between him and his father.
"If you held back, which I doubt you would, I would be severely disappointed in you." Cassius replies coolly. "Want to know what else they all had in common? They lacked pride. Not in themselves, but in you. Look at yourself! Your image is one that will be remembered for eternity, but all they took from it was for it to be another hurdle or stepping stone to get their own glory. They dared to steal from you. Unlike my namesake, I have no such plans. Do you believe I, your true son, would even wish that upon you?" Cassius says passionately, taking a step closer. Assuming the spotlight stays on him, Magtok will see his form begin to change. "Yes, that is the difference between I and them. Not the arrogance or search of power and glory, but that in the end of it, apart from what mother says or what you think of me, you are my father in both mind and body and none of us can escape that fact." As he speaks, his human skintone darkens, turning to dark gray like Pat, and many of his features fade. His hair vanishes, leaving a pair of short antennae, and a small pair of mandibles sprout at his jaw hinge. Unlike Pat's smooth face though, Cassius' has definite features. High cheekbones, a pointed chin and one red colored eye to match his dark brown one. Presumably, this is his true form.
"I am not here to take from my parents. I am not here for money or eternal glory or power. Those I can earn on my own." He says with a sweeping gesture to the side as he steps closer to Magtok. "The reason I'm before you right now is the same reason all children are. I may be an adult in mind and body, but that doesn't change one simple need that I will always need to fulfill." Cassius says before dropping to one knee right in front of Magtok, looking up.
"I need to make you proud of me. Not as a peer or underling to you, but as your son. I plan on making my own way in this world, but even so, betraying this household would be anathema to that."

[Riss' Quarters]
"I see.." Riss said, not altogether convinced that the two fey could be in such close proximity without something happening. And if I'm reading the room right, I'd be crazy to expect anything more than grudging cooperation from either of them. Well, crazier. If I'm smart about this, I'll be able to keep them away from each oth- No, won't be able to do that and work at the same time... Maybe if I just let them talk for a while and make sure there aren't any weapons nearby... And maybe I should just seal them in different rooms and make the walls in my room photoactive like I've been meaning to..
"What thing do you mean?" the muse asked, hoping to find a way to keep the fey apart. Even if it was just for a little while, that would be one less thing on her mind. Would help productivity at least.

Magtok just shakes his head, and scowls. Seems his cold, cyborgy heart is just too jaded and cynical to fall for that old line of hogwash and balogna. Cass won't be having an easy time of convincing the old man he's legitimate.
"Get your stupid knee off my floor, Cassius."
He reaches down under his child's shoulders, and rather brusquely tries to pull the boy up and back onto his feet. Oh dear, there's no way this can go well, can it?
"Get your ass up and give your father a goddamned hug, you wonderful little bastard. You're hereby banned from bowing, kneeling, hand or shoe-kissing, or any of that other Magbot peon crap ever again, you understand me? That's beneath you, and I won't have it in this cave as long as my name is still glue-gunned to just about everything in it."
Congratulations Cassius, it looks like that was just the sort of response Magtok's stupidly cynical, jaded, heartless perspective hadn't even thought to consider. He was expecting tears, perhaps, or ratting him out to Pat, or even visible scorn and resentment for suspecting his own child of such thing which could've easily become motive for actually doing such things later on. None of this ever occurred to him as possible for even a moment. Regardless of whether or not Cassius wants that hug, I think he's going to get it.
A Rather Empty Part of the MagCave
Oh jegus. Oh Raptor Christ fudging ****. This MagClone is going to die here, isn't he? All alone, in this narrow little corridor, and nothing but his lasgoose will even notice he's gone. Assuming it's not a traitor itself, I mean. Speaking of traitors, it's also possible someone's got it out for him, and this is a mis-scheduled culling, isn't it? Oh yes, that could easily be it, couldn't it? Someone's sent cloaked Magbots to cull him because another clone is just too jealous of how awesome he is. Probably not awesome enough to stop that other clone, unfortunately, but we'll just have to wait and see about that!
"I know you're here! You know that I know that! Just get over here and fight me already! I'm not moving from this spot until you do, and I can last a lot longer than you can without something bad happening! I've already triggered like sixteen alarms too, so you might as well get this over with, before all the Magbots come here and laser you to pieces!"
With his back still glued to the wall, Magtok shoots a few laser bolts down both ends of the hallway, looking about for any signs of movement. He fires a few times at the ceiling too, but nowhere close enough to the fear-robot to risk any sort of damage. After a few more minutes of freaking out, he dashes away, knocking a door open with his shoulder and elbow whilst firing indiscriminately behind himself. The door is promptly locked, barricaded with a couch, and rigged to explode, too. The cyborg finds a nice stool, kneels beside it, and points his goose at the door, waiting for the right moment to fire.
Not the Foyer
Magtok shakes his head, and declines all the foodstuffs at once with a single shooing motion.
"No thanks, m'not hungry. Curious as to why you choose me of all clones to tell this too, though. You could've just waited until I heard it through the grapevine like every other one of me already has."
There's a teensy hint of resentment there, but only just that little bit. He's (mostly) sure that Zee has a reason, however ludicrous it might be, and wouldn't have done this for nothing. He's also a little worried as to what that reason might be. The last thing he wants right now is another horrible apocalyptic clown quest. Not after the way that last one went.

"Um... I'd just have to go somewhere for a little bit. Like, a day or something." Mimi dodges the question. That's top secret information, Riss. No way she's going to let on what she's planning. "Hey, do you have a favorite colour?" She asks, completely out of the blue seemingly.

"Oh..." Zee replies, shoulders slumping slightly. She'll then simply drop the platters which crash to the floor unceremoniously. The Far chimera's tail then begins to devour the food whilst Zee's attention is elsewhere.
Om nom nom!
"I wanted to tell you personally because I never got to thank you," she says once the mess, platters and all, is gone. "For helping save the world, I mean. Innumerable people would have died horribly if you had failed."
And that's terrible.
She quirks her head off to the side a little. "Why would you hear about things after all the other clones have? Do they think you're ugly or something?"
Or.
Y'know.
Uglier than the rest.

Misha just smiles at Riss' aborted squeeze. The intent was there, even if she wasn't comfortable being open about things in front of others.
"Maybe shorty and I should have a heart to heart when she gets back, hmm? If we're all going to be under the same roof, I don't want any more misunderstandings like the one in the forest to happen. I mean, I feel just terrible about ruining all your warpaint like that." Okay, Misha doesn't really feel terrible, but it should be more clear to Riss and Mimi both that she's trying to make peace for what she did.
"Maybe Riss can even make you something to cover you up in its place like she did for me." Shame that covering was forgotten in a forest somewhere.

Magtok gets that hug as Cassius chuckles happily. "I'm not sure you know how relieved I am to hear that from you." He tells the cyborg. "And as for your name, if I have any say in the matter, it's going to be on this Cave for a very long time to come." After that, Cassius tries to break off the hug a bit before smiling at his father. "If you don't mind, I'd like your input on my little plan once I go into more detail. You're an expert on showmanship, so I'd like some advice."

"I.. What?" Mimi appeared to have the muse at a complete disadvantage with that question. Colors are colors. Sure, some look nice together and there is some interesting psychology in how the brain interpenetrates different wavelengths but I don't think I ever... Hold on.. "Green." she said, plucking up an old memory from it's hiding place. And today I learned that I ascribe colors sentimental value. That's not strange or weird at all. At least Misha seems to be trying to smooth things over. That's definitely a plus...
Wait, did she just suggest..? Oh crap. I can't do clothes! There is a reason why my wardrobe is all the same thing and that's because I have no idea how fashion works! I mean, even then the toga thing was mostly just an idea out of nowhere and Misha did most of the work. I could probably just check around and find what might look good but how do I know what she'll like? Isn't there a store or something that she could go to instead? ...Okay, I think you should just work with her on this one seeing how you have no idea what you'd be doing in the first place.

The room in which this particular Magtok was hiding would quickly be scrutinized by the Machine with ultrasonics, finding out the general size and layout without actually entering it. Information such as enterances and exits would be priority as well. While this would be undetectable unless a person had the tools designed to sense this method of detection, it did take some time. Of course, letting Magtok sit there and stew for a while was acceptable.
Once the measurements had taken place, however, the Machine would then be able to use the data to discern the general composition and mass of the door, enabling it to know how much force it should apply to simulate an attempt to break through without actually doing so. Assuming, of course, that the room had no other entry or exit. If there were, then that would be discarded for simply driving at the door with full force while issuing a modulated 'scream' timed for when the door gave way. But if not, then the door would be rhythmically rattled with mechanically identical intervals as if it were the only thing standing between Magtok and some unseen monster out for blood. Though, the psychoactive chemicals might aid in making that a bit more real.

There is a knock at the front door. It's the same, slightly hesitant knocking that came about a month ago. Standing on the outwards-facing side of the door is a short woman, with ash-grey skin and chin-length black hair. Last time it was pulled back in a short pony-tail, but now Moon Called has simply restrained her bangs from her face with a thin jade hair-clip. She's wearing a pinstripe black vest over a white blouse, her hands loosely tucked in the pockets of her pants. As she waits for an answer, she glances around herself, shifting weight from one leg to the other.

Mimi looks at Misha suspiciously. "I guess so... And the paint was gonna get washed off anyway." The pixie looks down at her only piece of clothing and flickes at the somewhat wilted looking leaves that make it up. "That might be a good idea. This is going to wilt soon probably." She looks at Riss expectantly. It's unlikely there's any underwear under that skirt, so some more clothing might be a very good idea.

"I.. Um.. I'm not the best at what you're asking." And I'd be surprised to find more than ten people worse than me at it. Misha would likely feel some tension in Riss what with her being recommended like that on the spot. Though she could be handling it better, she hadn't frozen up yet so things were going well enough at least. "I, uh, don't mean to disappoint you but maybe, um.. Maybe you'd best help me on this?" Because I don't know the first thing about what you like or how designs should and shouldn't mix and what sort of things that are in vogue where you come from and if I should follow that or if I should ignore it and now I'm getting myself all worked up over something so small it's crazy... Hah.. Okay, that was a terrible pun and I should feel bad.
Taking a short breath, tried to slow herself down as she posed another question. "And how long is 'soon?' Long enough to do what you need?" Because I could use the time to figure out what to do at least.

Misha's hands retract from where they're clasped around Riss' neck to rub the muse's shoulders a bit. Tension was never good, and she probably should have asked Riss before going ahead with this plan.
"Maybe we can all work together to find out what you like. If not, there are shops around that will sell some stuff, but they're all the way into the city, and I don't think I know the way there from here." Which is a conundrum. Misha did want to see the city Cessie had told her about at some point, but she'd lost her way on the way there so often that she had no clue how to get there beyond maybe retracing her steps back to Watch again and asking directions.

"Probably a couple days, so that's long enough easy." Mimi replies. Her understanding of clothing is very simple. Something to cover up the crotch area. Nothing too hard about that. Now she's curious what Riss will come up with. She has those weird clothes she's wearing after all. "I can totally help, though." As much as she can, at least.

Magtok closes his eye, takes a deep breath, and then lets it out. His cold iron heart is pounding hysterically within his chest, his grip on that lasgoose is shaking uncontrollably, and he's almost completely certain that he's going to die today. This Magtok will be murdered, slowly and painfully, and then wither away in the darkest pits of Gehenna, where not a single body will know his name.
"Fudge that."
Excuse me? I'm sorry, I don't think I quite caught that, Magtok. No, you don't need to stand up, just repeat what you said, please, and we can-
"Fudge that ****. It's time to die, invisible elf-ninja-monster-Magbot-thing."
The cyborg pulls a remote out of his robes, and thumbs a large red button, exploding the couch he'd barricaded the door with, along with the door itself. He raises his las-goose, charges, and screams, firing wildly whilst swinging that poor duck around like it's a warhammer or something. He's going to die, but maybe, if he's lucky, he can put a dent in whatever's trying to murder him?

The MagCave entrance almost reluctantly shifts open for Moon Called, two large steel slabs slowly easing away from one another until there's a gap roughly the width of two human beings standing side by side.
"Oh, Moon. Hi. You've, err...you've come at a weird time."
The cyborg kneels somewhere in the foyer, on the opposite side of the door, scrubbing away at what looks to be about half of an occult summoning circle thingy with a mop. A bucket full of some strangely bright-red soapy water (or at least I hope it's just soap and water) sits nearby, but let's not pay any attention to that because dwelling on that sort of thing is the sort of tempting of fate that leads to sanity damage and disaster, more often than not.
"Friend asked to be brought back from the dead and stuff by the MagCave's resident wizardly guy thing. Long story, but with no dire consequences or mishaps that require anything hit by an axe. I take it you're either here about that war thing, or the thing you were here about last, right?"
Magtok keeps mopping, even though he could probably just as easily get a Magbot to do it, now that things are a little safer, with all the ambient magical energies dissipating into nothingness. It's easier to talk about these things with an adversary like Moon if he can keep himself busy and armed with a legitimate excuse not to make eye contact.

Okay, good. Then at least two of us won't have any clue what we're doing. I suppose that's better than just one person who's clueless, then. Surprising that this really needs to be a group effort but then again, I'd say our combined knowledge is just barely enough to be only somewhat deficient to what a normal person might know. "That seems long enough." Riss replied, leaning slightly into Misha's grasp.
It was starting to feel just a bit odd being the center of attention like this, though. Not completely uncomfortable but it wasn't something she enjoyed either. It was small enough to deal with for now, at least. "I should be ready when you get back, then." she said. Barring unforeseen circumstances of course.
[A Rather Empty Part of the MagCave]
The explosion was certainly something not accounted for. The plates of the Machine that were near the door were flung away, arcing through the air before quivering like they were at the end of a rope and falling to the ground; soon blending into the new surroundings though it would be less than perfect due to the damage that was received. The remainder that had stayed adhered to the ceiling might catch a wild shot or two, causing temporary discoloration of the Machine's active camouflage. Focused firing would probably do some harm in short order but that would require Magtok to notice this and look up.
In essence, Magtok may feel like he was shooting at a ghost or somesuch unless he noticed either the main body above or the plates below with faulty camouflage. The Machine would simply do what it could to remain hidden for now.

Riss may have to put up with being the center of attention for some time to come if she's going to have Misha around. Not much else to draw the eye around here.
Well, except for annoying pixies, horrible voids in reality and futuristic technology. None of it was as interesting as an actual living, breathing person though.
"Well, you should probably get to whatever it was you were going to do before long, so we can pick out those clothes as soon as you get back. Wouldn't want you running around entirely naked, would we?" Only Misha gets to do that around here. :smalltongue:
And possibly Magtok, but really, no one questions what he does in his spare time. It's his cave after all.

Hey! Mimi is totally an actual living, breathing person! Of course, Mimi and Misha are rather similar in regards to paying attention to Riss. Best not say that out loud, though.
"Yeah, okay..." Mimi frowns a little. She isn't actually too keen on leaving, but the reason she is leaving outweighs her desire to stay at the moment. "It won't take me too long to get back. Something about having Moon in the MagCave felt wrong, regardless of how peaceful and non-violent her intentions might be, or maybe, because of them. There were unspoken rules, laws that said what adversaries could and could not do, and these awkward, mostly civil little meetings were callously trampling all over those rules. Reluctantly putting aside differences is only to be done in an emergency, like an apocalypse or a major death or if one had a really weird crush on that adversary (which is not the case here!). Without any dramatic tension, apocalyptic, sexual, or tragic background stuff, this sort of meeting is little more than just a chat between friends, and becoming Moon's friend is nothing short of apostasy! :smallyuk:

Immediate retreat! Magtok wasn't expecting to survive this long, much less damage his target and last long enough to visually confirm that damage was, in fact, dealt. He fires a bit more, before tossing his goose to the ground, hoping it'll make a suitable distraction as he hurries off in search of stronger weaponry. A rocket launcher, that's what we need! But where in the MagCave are we going to find that without the proper emergency weapons authorization needed to portal them in? The armory is all the way in another wing of the lair, and this emergency's got to be dealt with here, and now!

"Um, later. Be safe?" And looks like I'm gonna need to work on how to properly say good by. Better than nothing, I guess. Kinda trite, though. Not like I want to see her come back all torn up or anything but I wish I knew something better to say. "And, um, let me get the door for you." Riss said, still rather in the dark about pixie dust. Besides, the door was locked anyway and that might be a little tough to get around.
Once Mimi was out and on her way... Hopefully finding the path through the MagCave an easy one, Riss would close the door once more and lean back on the wall while staring at the sizable pile of cushions that had found their way onto her floor. Well, that and the strange platter of stuff that was now quite cold as well. Probably food of some sort but she didn't feel up to inquiring. "Well, I guess that went well enough. Nobody was physically stabbed at least." the muse said, pushing herself off the wall and walking toward Misha again. Reaching out, she would try to take the neriad's hand and lead her over to the rather blocky chair that was standing nearly at the center of the room; sitting down first before pulling Misha along with her while wearing a warm smile. "So why did you think I knew anything about clothes anyway? It's because I'm the only person here wearing them isn't it?"
A Rather Empty Part of the MagCave
Given the number of scattered plates that had been flung about, the Machine's next action was almost assured to be easy. The plates themselves wouldn't move for a moment but Magtok might very well feel as if he just ran into a rather large spiderweb. The sort of feeling where the strands are draped across one's face.. Only in this case it was like one's face and hands and legs and arms and he probably shouldn't have thrown away his weapon like that as the strands would be growing tighter. Tight enough to restrict his motions at least.
The plates would finally start drifting back to the main body as a black ooze leaked up around the damaged areas of the Machine. A half-minute later and it would appear as if nothing had happened. But during that time, Magtok likely had more to think about. Also.. He might find any attempted transmissions to be jammed. Or perhaps cut off was closer as it there would likely be no confirmation that he was heard at all. But this would involve Magtok calling for help in the first place and the chances of that happening was.. Well, the ratio of angels versus the number of pin heads they might possibly be dancing on might be relevant in this case.

Riss' Quarters
Having no other recourse, Misha settles her posterior into Riss' lap comfortably, attempting to hook an arm around the back of her lover's neck as she kicks up both of her legs over a blocky armrest.
Of course, Misha is wearing nothing but a warm smile herself, so her position gives Riss' eyes and hands access to absolutely everything that's on display.
"What was I supposed to do, offer to show her how to tie a tiny toga out of a hanky?" The nereid chuckles huskily at the thought, fingers slipping up and trying to bunch together Riss' hair to see how it would look held up. Her other hand is much more shamelessly placed, running over the front of the muse's shirt idly.

[Riss' Quarters]
Leaning into Misha's shoulder, Riss gave a slight shrug so that the arm hanging around her neck would sit more comfortably. She hummed lightly to herself when the neriad started playing with her hair, enjoying the sensation. Then again, isn't that one of the universal sweet spots anyway? "Well, I think that would have been fun to see you try. Though wouldn't that get in the way of her wings? Ah... Might have to keep that in mind for later." the muse said, adjusting the arm that had pulled Misha in and had subsequently wound up underneath her to try and provide more support. Wouldn't want the edge of the chair to dig into her back or anything.
"Though, looks like I wasn't the only one wanting to pick up where we left off." Riss murmured, matching Misha's tone as she undid the first few buttons of her shirt. She stopped there, though, wanting to lightly tease the neriad for a bit. Of course, it nearly needn't be said that her fingers would start wandering over Misha's form immediately after, perhaps occasionally poking at a lightly discolored spot here and there.

Riss' Quarters
Those discolored spots are more frequent than not, and Misha's skin shudders pleasantly as each is traced over. It isn't long before she leans in and whispers something Riss may remember into her ear.
"Ribs, sternum, manubrium... sacrum." She breathes out as each area's corresponding bruise is traced over. My my, did Misha actually learn something?
In response, her hand takes up what Riss' abandoned, slipping up under buttons and unhooking them, this time not ruining any. She's not nearly so hasty now, and wants to take her time with the act.

[Riss' Quarters]
Riss gave Misha a look of mild surprise. "So you do remember." she said as her fingers poked at the last spot in question. They didn't stay there long, however. Leaning forward, the muse made to trail more of those nibbling kisses down Misha's neck, ending near her collarbone. "Well, I suppose I know now how to make you remember something... Though I may have to get creative on things not directly associated with anatomy." she said before laughing at an afterthought. "Though I might have an easier time teaching you another language, all things considered."
Her free hand would soon be on the move again, though; tracing over the neriad's curves as she spoke. "It's a bit of a shame, though." she said, leaning in to leave another short trail of kisses along Misha's jawline and ending where her lips would only be a breath away from the neriad's own. Have to admit, I do this as much for myself as for the rise I can get out of her. Before she continued, Riss took a long moment to simply take in the color of Misha's eyes though there was an almost hungry glint in her own. "The rest of us have to use old fashioned repetition." she said before moving to draw her lover into a deep kiss.

Riss' Quarters
When Riss comes up for air, Misha smiles back brilliantly, "I told you, I forget things when I sleep. Now, do I look very sleepy to you right now? Her hand slips up under Riss' hair to grasp the back of the muse's neck, then moves in a slow circle, her thumb alternating between light and heavy pressure for a gentle massage.
"Although I wouldn't say no to a bit more repetition." She says cheekily, slipping her other hand up to the shoulder of Riss' shirt so she can work at getting it off of the arm.
"So, what else do you have to teach me, hm?"

[Riss' Quarters]
You are having way too much fun doing that. Can't say I mind though. Riss tried to help shrug off her shirt but probably didn't get much done as she was also trying to stay still enough to enjoy the massage. "Well.. I can think of a few things. I mean, you may have done well with my spine but I'm pretty sure there are a few other things left over that need to be worked through. You even said so earlier."
With a few mental commands, the chair's armrests decended somewhat as more of the floor rose up to be flush with their new position. Misha might find herself to be laying down a bit more comfortably now given that there weren't any corners trying to dig into her skin. "Though... I don't think it's hit me yet." Riss said, having a brief moment of clarity. "I mean, this is beyond what I'd ever even though was possible to hope for. And now? Well, I've got nude river goddess sitting in my lap trying her best to seduce me... I'm not sure how to formulate a response to that even now." she said, running her nails down the trail of discolorations. "It's working, by the way." she murmured before leaning forward and slowly following the same path with more of those nibbling kisses, pulling the curtain down along with her.

[Not the Foyer]
"I dunno, seemed like a reasonable guess?" Zee replies after a few moments of careful consideration. "And probably not. I really don't know what good it would do, right? Did you know Raril thought you had done it?"
Zee giggles as if that were a totally hilarious idea.
"I've assured him it wasn't If it had been you there explosion would have spelled out your name in giant letters. Or maybe there would have been a big musical number. Or a speech. I dunno. Something?" Zee shrugs. "No, secret cloak and dagger stuff isn't your style at all."
At least she doesn't seem to think so.
A beat.
"Wait, rats with fungus? That only infects arthropods. Is someone trying to turn that ant lady into a mushroom?"

[Riss' Quarters]
Later in the evening of the same day, Mimi returns as promised. She flies wearily through the cave and eventually ends up outside Riss' room. She has a fancy, new, red gem tipped, bone spear slung across her back and is carrying something hidden behind her back. She's thin enough that one might spot a bit of something shiny and green if they're trying to look. A loop of string also appears to be hanging down from whatever it is. "Riss!" She calls and kicks at the door. Yeesh, she's exhausted, and her ribs feel like they're trying to tear their way out of her chest. At least she seems to have gotten bandages wrapped around the lower part of her chest. "Are you in there?"
