Does it keep building up, or does it stay ankle deep?
It continues to flow.
I walk out into the hallway, to the edge of the water, to see how far its advanced.
Does it eventually flood the hallway and let me swim up past the wall I failed to climb?
As you walk forward, the water is well into the hall. As you keep walking the water continues to rise. You are about hallway into the hall. The current becomes stronger, and while only knee deep it pushes you forward. With both feet on the ground you are stable, but as you pick a foot up to move forward you have to take care to not be knocked down.
(Roll an athletics or acrobatics check for me)
[roll0] for Athletics.
Edit: Okay, things are starting to look up.
(Unfortunately with your water breathing, also the least helpful time to Nat 20.)
You are able to walk down the hall easily keeping your balance. You don't even get maybe 3/4 the way down the hall before the water is above your head. Luckily for you (and your roll), your heritage allows you to be unphased as you begin swimming. The water sweeps you towards the far end of the hall, from where you came, but instead of fighting the current you use it to navigate your way to the end safely. You tread water as it continues to rise quickly. A few more seconds you wager, and it should rise to be within reaching distance of the ledge you failed to climb to before.
(I was late this time. Sorry.)
I swim up to the surface and wait until I can reach the ledge. Then, I pull myself up.
Luckily the water does get within a few feet of the edge. Just as you grab on, the sound stops. Just as quickly as the water filled, it begins to drain. You scramble up onto the ledge before the current is able to sweep you away. You find yourself prone in a 15'x15' room. On the other side, opposite of you, is another opening. Looking behind you the water has a faint blue glow.
I stand up and look around.
It is a 15'x15' room with about 10' ceilings. It is rough hewn stone, like the hallway before it.
Is there any visible way forward?
There are two doorways, the one you came through and one opposite it.
I stop for a moment to look around the room before I exit.
It is still a 15'x15' room with 10' ceilings with just the two archways. It seems like a natural cave as all the stone is rough and porous, but the archways are too intentional to be completely natural.
Deon shrugs and keeps walking.
Are you walking through the door opposite of where you came in?
Yeah. I want to keep going forward.
As you progress forward, something catches your eye. Luckily you noticed that this doorway leads to a hallway like the one before, including the same 30' drop.
(athletics check to climb down, acrobatics if you'd like to jump and try and roll, or you can just take fall damage and hope for the best)
[roll0] for Athletics, since just taking the damage might kill me and my Acrobatics modifier leaves a lot to be desired.
Edit: Things really are turning around.
You safely climb down to the floor below. As you look around, you notice you are in another long hallway. This hall is about 20' across, and there appears to be another doorway above you. It is offset from the one you came through which is why you missed it before in the darkness. This hallway extends parallel to the hallway from before.
So what you're saying is that the other doorway would lead back up to the platform I just climbed down from?
And what appears to be at the end of the hallway?
There is a doorway from which you just climbed down that leads to platform 1 (for ease of discussion). As you turn around to face away from it, you see up and to your left a doorway that was hidden from view due to light and location that leads to an unknown area. As you face up and look at doorway 2, to your right, at your level, is a long hallway. The hallway you are in seems to be identical to the one you just left.
As you peer down the hallway, it disappears into darkness outside of your view much like the last one. You carefully wander down the hall close to 150' before you finally see the outline of a far wall. You can see a closed door in the center of the wall. You remain about 30' from the door. As you travel you notice the hallway is rough, natural looking.
(sorry for moving you without your consent, it was the best way to give you a description. Feel free to roll any checks you would have wanted to make during your walk and I'll give out any relevant information.)
(Completely forgot it was my turn. Sorry! And its not a problem that you moved me. You're right: it made sense.)
Since I've already moved down the hallway I suppose I'll finish walking down the hallway and see if I can find anyplace on the closed door to look through. For that matter, can I hear anything through it?
You listen and can't hear anything through the door. There is a handle to open the door, it opens inwards. The hinges are on the left side as you face the door. There is no lock.
I guess I draw my belaying pin, just in case, and open the door.
Before you is another 15'x15' room. The walls and ceiling are the same cavernous features, except the far wall. It again is smooth. On it are 12 runes arranged in a 3x4 grid.
(Investigation check if you'd like).
[roll0] for Investigation. Unless I roll well I'm probably going to have to trial-and-error this room.
Edit: Although...
As you look at the runes longer, you notice that the runes you pressed previously aren't etched as deep. You gently trace your fingers over one of them like before, and wait for the expected glow but nothing happens. You move to another rune, one with deeper etchings and trace your fingers over it. It glows as you expected the last one to. As you look, the location of the runes seem to be in the same places they were before, with the exception of all the previously used runes seeming to be inactive.
I press the three runes in the lower right corner: Aquarius, Libra, and Capricorn. Anything happen?
The three runes glow briefly before fading. You can hear a faint groaning sound as they do.
