Fallen London 3 - "The God-Eaters"
All shall be well.
Your "Fallen London" quality has increased to 3 - "The God-Eaters"
In the darkness of Fallen London, the goats are über, the colonists are rather mostly dead, and your next-door neighbor might be a devil. Otherwise, it's a rather cheery place, the oppressive darkness of the cavernous underworld notwithstanding. We still have stars, of a sort, and bats aren't a bad alternative to cheery birds. And who can forget Mrs. Plenty's trademarked Rubbery Lumps?
Just don't go peeking down any wells.

So, what am I supposed to do with the Heavy Iron Box? Is it just an opportunity card that I haven't found? Do I have to be a PoSI?

The first few parts of the story appear in the Flit. However, they also require a certain level of shadowy - if you are beyond that, there should be an option in Mahogany Hall to pursue the "quest". Later you also need to have Tales of Mahogany Hall 12+.

You need 15 What the Thunder said and 19 Stormy-Eyed (which IMHO basically requires you spend time at Mutton Island grinding - getting there just using would take ages...)

Re: Fallen London 3 - "The God-Eaters"
Ah. I don't have access to Mahogany Hall yet. That would explain it. Thanks.

PvP has a weird place in this game, and I don't think Failbetter's really worked out what to do with it. Abominable Salts are really just a griefing method.

Re: Fallen London 3 - "The God-Eaters"
Yeah, other than upconverting their uses can be counted on the fingers of a single hand - and of those most require very specific circumstances to appear (two allow you to increase your connections via the Endowment of a University Fellowship, one helps in hunting a Worryingly Large Rat, one lets you confound Dr. Orthos when engaged in a Rivalry of Antiquities and the last one is for griefers).

Bwhaha! decided to give this game a try, and it kinda had me caught already at the character generation.. :P

My dear sir, there are individuals roaming the streets of Fallen London at this very moment with the faces of squid! Squid! Do you ask them their gender? And yet you waste our time asking me trifling and impertinent questions about mine? It is my own business, sir, and I bid you good day

Re: Fallen London 3 - "The God-Eaters"
That's an early gem of the writing, indeed.

Re: Fallen London 3 - "The God-Eaters"
I was sucked in by the Neath at that point too.

Re: Fallen London 3 - "The God-Eaters"
After a few days of ring fights and fending off assassins, I've acquired a circle of loyal associates of the more shady persuasion. I'm sure I'll be the envy of all my friends. Now to spend some time robbing Feducci blind...

Re: Fallen London 3 - "The God-Eaters"
Reminds me though.. are there any parts of my random junk i should not sell because it might be important later..?

I don't remember getting a Magnificent Diamond...
You're not going to get another one of those for awhile.
-
Re: Fallen London 3 - "The God-Eaters"
Kinda wish I'd held on to mine, yeah, though you probably won't find a use for it for a while.

Re: Fallen London 3 - "The God-Eaters"
My rule is "If you don't know how to get another, don't sell it."

Your Mysterious Backer gives you one to sell and buy gear with.
-
Re: Fallen London 3 - "The God-Eaters"
Keep it - you'll need to grind a bit more at start, but once such a diamond is needed, you'll be happy you kept it (all other sources of those diamonds have a random element to them).
Also, what is your username in FL?

I'm Salbazier, a sagacious and ferocious gentleman as well a man with an ambition, namely that of capturing the legendary Vake. Currently trying to procure some Black Wings Absinthe in order to be able to continue my pursuit.

And im Khaine! a masked person of unknown identity, of the type who were mad enough to get itself locked up in one of Londons worst prisons just to get a single steop closer to finding the murderer of its lover.

Re: Fallen London 3 - "The God-Eaters"

Re: Fallen London 3 - "The God-Eaters"
Is there an easy way to increase Nightmares quickly? I need it to regain my Closest To: Bohemians, but putting on and taking off a Sporing Bonnet doesn't seem to be working.

That requires nightmares? :smallconfused: Anyway, petting a Starvelling cat gives 1cp/action, buying expidition supplies with Appaling Secrets gives as much, the same for dealing with the Empress' dog in the Court, and seeking curios in the Forgotten quarter usually does the job and gets you some stuff.

Re: Fallen London 3 - "The God-Eaters"
What sort of madman actually seeks out more nightmares..?
-
Re: Fallen London 3 - "The God-Eaters"
It's for science. At least in my case. There's several things that can only be achieved while having nightmares. Or, well. While in the place where you go when your nightmares get too strong.
