Heroes of the Storm II: Thread. Augmented. Logical Decision
WHAT IS HEROES OF THE STORM
Heroes of the Storm is Blizzard's entry into the MOBA genre. Cutting things such as items, individual XP, and last hitting with the talent system and team-wide XP, Heroes of the Storm is a very different take on the formula established by DOTA 2. Website is here

Hell yeah, new thread. I'm Manni, #2140, EU server

Re: Heroes of the Storm II: Yes, the game actually released!
I'm just going to drop in that I translated all the Heroes of the Storm characters to magic cards, in case anyone is interested: http://imgur.com/a/D2xIU

Re: Heroes of the Storm II: Yes, the game actually released!
Wow, those are seriously cool!
Some are necessarily a bit too wordy, and i think you should remove the sacrifice cost from all the Battlegrounds (they look way too weak now), but everything else is sick :)
Also, i'll try my best to not complain about the title again, but we totally had some titles floating ("I AM NOT FINISHED!" "I'm ready! I'M NOT READY!") :P
-
Re: Heroes of the Storm II: Yes, the game actually released!
I didn't see a consensus, anyone want to take a quick poll today? I'll change the thread title in 12 hours or so
Option 1: Who Shall curry my flavor?
Option 2: NO! I AM NOT FINISHED!
Option 3: Thread. Augmented. Logical Decision
Option 4: You are very good at murder
Option 5: "I'm Ready!" "I'm not ready!"
Option 6: "What's the point of this?" "...you're thinking WAY too hard about it."
And regarding the battlegrounds sacrificing themselves, lands that are spells are generally pretty good, it's rare for a land to generate something as large as a 5/5
-
Re: Heroes of the Storm II: Yes, the game actually released!
I am extremely torn, but i'll go with OPTION 3
-
Re: Heroes of the Storm II: Yes, the game actually released!
But when does the closed beta start? :smallwink:
Vote for #3 as well.
-
Re: Heroes of the Storm II: Thread. Augmented. Logical Decision
Conversation superfluous. Option 3, superior.

Re: Heroes of the Storm II: Thread. Augmented. Logical Decision
Now, for the "why the hell is this talent picked" section, can we talk a little about Gargantuan?
It's apparently the most picked ult and has a higher Winrate , but seriously, why??
I understand it's an extra body, I get that you can cast it whenever you want... but dammit!
Its damage is pitiful, he is hard to control (you can't have him cover your retreat, since he only attacks when you're attacking as well) and enemies simply ignore him.
He's a bag of nothing that has no effect on fights and that opponents can safely ignore.
Meanwhile, Ravenous Spirit (while easily cancellable, and kinda conditional in its use) is strong and useful, and generally grabs one or two kills (or just deals a ton of area damage, as usual for Nazeebo )
I get Water Elemental. He does hit hard, is targetable, and most importantly he slows you considerably.
I really don't get Gargantuan.
Oh, and once he killed me because a KT Chain Bombed him while we were escaping, and he loyally ran back to me like an explosive puppy dog

After playing a bunch of Naz recently, some of it is that Ravenous Spirit is simply not an option when there's a Tyrande in every game. Beyond that, Gargantuan hits surprisingly hard actually when he decides to just wail on someone. It's more of a 0 damage ult vs. an ult that sometimes cleans house and sometimes does nothing except get in the way.

Re: Heroes of the Storm II: Thread. Augmented. Logical Decision
Another nice thing about Gargantuan is that it persists after death and also does good damage to structures. Which is doubly good because they can't move out of your stomp like heroes can. :smallbiggrin:
I do wish you could target it like Annie's bear from LoL, but maybe there's hidden strengths to it that I'm not aware of.
In other news, I tried out a knockback-W build on Sgt. Hammer last night, just for fun. And I realized how neat her kit is. I had a good time solo-laning against a Sylvanas (we kept mostly even), I was able to use my mines to sniff out an oncoming gank, and I felt rather proud of myself for NOPEing out of Dodge when Stitches hooked me into a Kerrigan. And then there were the peels. I had some really fun peels, even if I'm still getting the hang of doing it (I knocked an enemy out of Butcher's ult once, oops), and there was a great moment where I boxed their Stitches in on an alcove near one of the Infernal Shrines, ripe for a double-team.
~~~
Totally different tangent: new rotation! I'm most excited to get back to Kharazim; I feel like I've learned a bunch since he was last on rotation, and wouldn't be totally terrible at him. And it'd be fun to play with Stitches more.
I'll just be happy to kill free Lunaras :P
(I forgot about Lunara, and it looks like that site neglected to add her for the moment.)
I'm actually interested to try out Lunara in my typical "rank to 5 for gold" run. An assassin with mobility and a ward is pretty neat.
I am having a severe case of all the good Lunaras being on the enemy team and all the bad ones on mine.
Re: Heroes of the Storm II: Thread. Augmented. Logical Decision
Leveled Lunara to 5, interesting kit, super-squishy. I did have some fun with the Wisp, and I could probably do a lot of damage if I was not really tired. So maybe I'll try her later when I'm better rested. I kinda kept accidentally dying.
Also got back onto Kharazim, I might just buy him, and will definitely buy him if he drops to 7k. Way more fun than I remembered. I also had loads of fun with a Radiant Dash build because they had double stealthie on their team. Oops, I accidentally unstealthed you with my dash OH NO. :smallbiggrin:
-
Re: Heroes of the Storm II: Thread. Augmented. Logical Decision
How exactly do you unstealth somebody with a dash?
Also yeah Kharazim is boss. It's basically the only support i own and can play decently (I loathe supports, really can't stand the playstyle. But hey, this one heals by punching people. i can get behind that)
And to clarify : I really play every game as an assassin.
When I tried Morales I was running around trying to get snipes with the grenade :D
Needless to say, I was not the best Morales ever.
He has a talent (at lvl 4 iirc?) that adds a Farsight reveal to his dash.
Yep! You basically get a shorter-duration Clairvoyance at the location of the dash. Which, when you combine it with the extra dash charge/cooldown reduction, is really awesome. You can just zip around the fight, and stealthies have nowhere to hide.
I also grabbed Clairvoyance on top of that. Stealthies could never hide during teamfights.
Re: Heroes of the Storm II: Thread. Augmented. Logical Decision
I really dig these small tweaks, can't really find any fault with them. I like that we're going to see a little more of those in the future!
But what I'm really stoked about is the Cleanse buff/rework. It's simple, elegant, a nice power boost, and a good way to give a counter to stuns. Brilliant!
-
Re: Heroes of the Storm II: Thread. Augmented. Logical Decision
Interesting. Tyrande get's smacked around with the Nerf-bat, which is hardly surprising. The rest are pretty minor tweaks, let's see how they affect the game.
-
Re: Heroes of the Storm II: Thread. Augmented. Logical Decision
Lunara feels so much better now, it's night and day comparing her to pre-patch.
-
Re: Heroes of the Storm II: Thread. Augmented. Logical Decision
Yes to everything!
Well, aside from the Raynor hp nerf.
I agree that he needed a nerf, but couldn't they hit his base attack instead? Serves the same purpose, but keeps the hero Easy for newcomers
-
Re: Heroes of the Storm II: Thread. Augmented. Logical Decision
They announced the upcoming heroes, Diablo III wizard and Diablo II Necromancer. gamespot.com/articles/heroes-of-the-storm-gets-diablos-necromancer-and-w/1100-6433968/?ftag=GSS-05-10aaa0b
I've never played Diablo II but the necromancer is a way cool class concept, he is a melee specialist, while the wizard is a higher skilled based ranged assassin.
I thought that was a pretty interesting nerf, but I liked it because it keeps Raynor in the Assassin camp. "Deals lots of damage pretty safely" to "Deals lots of damage but is definitely squishy" is a shift that I feel is good for an assassin. I think he'll be a little harder to play now, but not impossible for newcomers. We'll see...
I'll have to play with the Brightwing changes. I've always been very hesitant to Q because of that mana cost. I think that plus the damage boost will make a big difference to her kit, although she doesn't feel like a primary support to me.
I am not too interested in the Wizard, but the Necromancer immediately catched my attention (Necromancy being my favorite type of magic, obviously), especially since he will use pets. I simply love pet-using chars!
And the fact he will be specialist is an even greater boon. We have a dire need for unusual specialist-types to make the heropool more varied, imo.
Re: Heroes of the Storm II: Thread. Augmented. Logical Decision
The wizard will probably be another Jaina/KT with a small twist.
The necromancer. ...
Bone lance Q,
Poison nova W,
Some kind of curse E,
trait "stuff you kill turns into skeletons",
ults Golem and Bone spirit (the seeking one)?
Or they could go for an active skeleton skill, and maybe corpse explosion? Or the golem could be his trait? He could start with the basic one, and the ults transform it into the other versions? (Clay-blood-iron)
Blizzardwatch has their ability sets.
Necromancer is as follows:
Q - Spectral Sycthe: A reverse skillshot. You place it at a point and then it travels towards you.
W - Cursed Strikes: Activate to make AAs do AOE damage and lower the attack speed of targets by 50% (Screw you Illidan).
E - Bone Prison: Targeted root. Warns the target that it is coming and then roots after two seconds.
R1 - Poison Nova: Point Blank AOE.
R2 - Skeletal Mages: Wall of skeletons. Does damage and slows (does not block the way).
His trait raises dead minions as skeletons. Up to four.
He also automatically gets an extra ability on the 1 key, Bone Armor, which gives him a 25% HP shield.
Here, have a link.
I think there would need to be some sort of cap on "units you kill turn into skeletons" - really it would sort of be like the Butcher's meat only you'd get minions instead of buffs. Maybe you start with the Golem as part of the Trait, since that's what happened anyways- summon golem, kill minions and raise them, go wreck face.
Golem Ult would probably be too close to Nazeebo, I'd expect something like Bone Prison as hard targeted CC. Revive would be cool- ally that dies within your range gets reset to full resources and health and buffed for 10s before dying again (this counts towards the ally's death timer as well like other on-death effects).
Corpse explosion needs to be in there somewhere, maybe as a talent that auto-detonates every other minion corpse unless you're full on skeletons.
Bone shield- defensive talent?
If he's really a Melee specialist, idk if he'll get the offensive Bone spells.
This could be tricky- to do the Necro right they need to get the classic feel without stepping on Nazeebo and Zagara's toes.
Edit: Well I got some of it right... ish.
