Re: Radikalskippy's Random Banter #85 of lost ideas and where to find them...
I linked to this in a separate post a few weeks ago, but since Pirates of Penzance got mentioned, I had to link to the "Baby got back" version again. Enjoy

Re: Radikalskippy's Random Banter #85 of lost ideas and where to find them...
Latest news on the topic slightly above here. (Darn sleeping, made me miss it, how do you mortals cope?)
William Penn, the founder and mayor of Philadelphia, had two aunts - Hattie and Sophia, who were skilled in the baking arts. One day, "Big Bill" was petitioned by the citizens of his town because the three bakeries in the town had, during the Revolution, raised the price of pies to the point that only the rich could afford them.
Not wanting to challenge the bakeries directly, he turned to his aunts and asked their advice. But when they had heard the story, the two old ladies were so incensed over the situation that they offered to bake 100 pies themselves, and sell them for 2 cents lower that any of the bakeries were charging.
It was a roaring success. Their pies sold out quickly, and very soon they had managed to bring down the price of all kinds of pastry in Philadelphia.
In fact, even to this very day, their achievements are remembered as the remarkable Pie rates of Penn's aunts.

My sainted grandmother always called that kind of story a "Shaggy Dog Story."
I gather there was one about a shaggy dog.

The amazing bit is that every time I see one of those, I think "Someone actually has to come up with those." Now I know. It's Death. Death himself, driving us to his cold, bony, elbowey embrace all that much quicker, through the art of the awful pun. I hear Pun Satan (of Pun Hell) has him under his payroll.

Hurrah for Pirates of Penzanse! (or however you spell it :smalltongue:) I've seen it with the guy from Hey Dad playing the pirate king. With spiffing purple pants. Of course, noone slightly younger than me or from another country will have any idea what Hey Dad was...

...I am tempting to quote that actually for my signature, did say I was going to revamp it sometime, hmm, maybe narrating my inner thoughts isn't the best idea, but gee War was looking-[/Mind of Death]
Maybe if someone else said it I could just quote them.:smalltongue:
And shhh D'anna Biers, I don't tell people what you do for the extra cash.:smallwink:

Also Serp, did you see the pirates of Penzance that had the pirate guy dressed and acting like Captain Jack Sparrow? Was on Aussie telly a while ago, it was actually quiet impressive and well done.

I remember that. I thought it was a little sad, actually... I liked the purple pants :smallfrown:

I think I've even seen a recording of that production. I think Wikipedia uses a picture from it on their article on Pirates of Penzance.

You can quote me now. ^^

Re: Radikalskippy's Random Banter #85 of lost ideas and where to find them...
I wish you guys could see this.
Mom brought home a bag of dog food, for the whippet we'll be picking up soon. It must smell really good, because my cats ha spent the last half hour trying to open it. Only I'm afraid they'll start biting it open, thus swallowing the small, sharp bits of plastic which reak havoc on their soft little organs, so I moved it away. They looks so dissapointed...

Whippet? *Googles* Ohhhh...
I find it more humorous that you watched your cats try to get in a bag for 30 minutes.:smalltongue:

Might not have a job if you tried that one. Probably better off to keep it vodka free so you can afford that vodka later.

Ahhhh moon! So much like you and the great barrier of love! I scratch and scratch, hoping to have my eternal insides mulched by your great presence, when you take away my hope and leave me forlorn and alone on...um...the kitchen floor? Crap! My metaphore a-splode!

On the other hand, she may grant you the whole "insides being mulched" bit.

If I can't wax poetic, well then, I'd say I'd rather die except you guys would take me seriously.
Ok, If I can't wax BAD poetic, then I'd rather ingest endless amounts of cake.
It's lose lose for y'all!
EDIT: ^ I'll SO take that.

Talking about me while I'm offline? Tsk tsk tsk.
D'anna, I'm sorry, but it'll just never work out between us.

I didn't really need to. Shasta was acting like there was catnip in it... o.o

Re: Radikalskippy's Random Banter #85 of lost ideas and where to find them...
Yeah, you keep on saying that. You should realise that I'll never let a mere thing like "impossibility" or "raging disgust" come between you and my endless whining. Have fun!

How about a national border?

I could indeed give you a national border, but it would be between The Land o' Luvvin' (Pop, you and me, baby) and the Land Of Stuff (Pop, everyone else.)
Geeze, you walked right into that one. This is fun, but trust me, I don't ACTUALLY need your love. I'd much prefer your mind numbing hate. It's easier for me to keep straight, and it's more consistent anyway.

Re: Radikalskippy's Random Banter #85 of lost ideas and where to find them...
Au contraire. You walked into mine. :smalltongue:
