And it's not like ABR follows the D&D rules. Do you roll to hit when you picture your character attacking someone ? No.
It is based in dnd and honestly you can not tell me what to do.

People fall down if you shoot them somewhere important or a few dozen seconds after you fire at them.

I have some in my old Illustrator files... But look so bad, just let me upgrade them.

You know that the d20 Modern rules are pretty much cross compatible with D&D, right?
And your gun stats are seriously overpowered. While in the real world a single bullet will be enough to kill someone, in RPGs it usually is not, and ABR would be no exception to this. I would propose that the UNA would use something a bit more like this:
{table=head]Name|Damage|Critical|Damage Type|Range[br]Increment|Rate[br]of Fire|Magazine|Size|Restriction
UNA Standard Issue Rifle|2d10|20|Ballistic|80ft|S|5 box|Large|Res (+2)
[/table]
This is roughly the same the d20 stats for a modern day hunting rifle.

I don't remember, what did we agree on to happen to Feldgrau?

Well, there was this from a while ago.

- If Felgrau attempts does not remain peaceful (which is, if you are not a member of the UNA, not doing anything other than economical/entertainment activities), then for the greater good (and peace), invasion !
Invasion means: neutralise the military and change the government to something more UNA friendly, the citizens be damned.
...
And this is what you'd imagined it to be soon after the Madmask quote.

Modern day Israel. They are a fairly new nation (at the time of the Skornbail incident it is only around ten years old). They were treated poorly in the past and during times of war, used as slaves or worse. They have a fairly small country, with powerful allies (Schizotec). And they are constantly under attack by a group of nations who have it in for them (Moon Elf empire)
If you think that comparison is too political, then I'll delete it.
And it wasn't really responded to after that so....

Heh, FI is beginning to sound a lot like Code Geass.
-
Re: Avatar Battle Royale Discussion Thread XXIV: What is this "Haste" you speak of?
Only with less Rocketemperor and a lot more landfish.

It's decent. But only the first season.
Just ignore the filler.

But... there are brown robes... in real life...
I think his brown outfit looks cool...

This is one of the rare occaisions on which I agree with Q. :smalltongue:
No, but seriously he's right.
Ohh right. I'm not here now, am I? Damn my laziness and inconsistency.

I agree. Guns are incredibly deadly. However, think. Guns are actually fairly cheap. So, it's not that silly to imagine a 1st level kobold warrior wielding one. He then takes out a bunch of epic level adventurers thanks to a lucky Initiative roll.
D&D can't handle the truth.

Gun are very in real life, but ABR has always leaned towards the fantasy/game side of things. Can you find a game that has the protagonist die from a single bullet?
-
Re: Avatar Battle Royale Discussion Thread XXIV: What is this "Haste" you speak of?
Yes, because its totally realistic for bullets to kill epic level characters that can survive falls of 100,000 feet or being dipped in lava for hours.
-
Re: Avatar Battle Royale Discussion Thread XXIV: What is this "Haste" you speak of?
That proves nothing. Get enough level 1 kobold sorcerers with magic missile and you can take down epics.
-
Re: Avatar Battle Royale Discussion Thread XXIV: What is this "Haste" you speak of?
Only if they can get past the spell resistance.:smalltongue:

Re: Avatar Battle Royale Discussion Thread XXIV: What is this "Haste" you speak of?
Wow, I am starting to feel guilty just because I brought this topic up :smalltongue:
Look, I know people want the guns to be realistic and all, but I don't want my char, for example, be mortally wounded if he is suprised by some punk with .32 revolver. And he uses swords, still, mostly in favour of firearms because:
1. It's cool
2. He has way more experience with them.
3. Everyone knows that swords can deflect bullets :smalltongue:
So I am fine with guns being able to cause grievous bodily harm in sufficient situations, but I am also going to dance right around any gun-users and deflect bullets, bending the laws of physics and propability when it LOOKS COOL. This is ABR for crying out loud! Just because guns can cause serious damage, it doesn't mean they are unbeatable in fight. Toothpick can cause grievous bodily harm if thrown with sufficient force into right spot after all :smalltongue:. Also, I myself stand in favour of "coolness" instead of "reality to the limit".

Re: Avatar Battle Royale Discussion Thread XXIV: What is this "Haste" you speak of?
I'm siding with Mad Mask a bit on the gun thing, I understand that in DnD the PC's are heroes and thus they can survive flaming catapult shots (heroes as in Greek heroes such as Heracles and Achilles who could do that) but it becomes ridiculous when everybody just do so especially when we agreed on a darker and edgier plot, it doesn't seem like everybody can die and a dark and dangerous future when a rifle shot barely scratch you :smallannoyed:
I think protection from arrows should help against it but not just make you basically invulnerable against all bullets. Of course you don't need to die from a bullet (it could miss vital spots) but you shouldn't be able to just walk away after a head shot unless you are undead or something.
EDIT:
Grim: I don't have any problems with avoiding the bullets just that people wan't to be able to survive them like they were nothing, a bullet from a rifle might kill you if it hit a vital spot (so just putting your arm in the way can save you) but it's hard to hit with them and a lot of characters have superhuman speed or something like that.

Re: Avatar Battle Royale Discussion Thread XXIV: What is this "Haste" you speak of?
WH40k is a grimdark setting where flesh-melting lazguns are nicknamed "flashlights" because of their uselessness against the real major players.
Besides, I thought we were going for Empire Strike Back level of darkness.
